Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Bean Tree Cafe at the Olive Pink Botanical Gardens was a lovely place to have breakfast with friends on a Saturday morning. I had the bacon and eggs on sourdough with spinach in the outside shaded area. I was able to explore a tiny section of the gardens and will go back for more exploration. The surroundings are beautiful and we had a rock wallaby guest try to join us.

WOW setting complete with friendly rock wallabies who will visit and entertain you while you enjoy the great fresh cuisine that is made with a great deal of experience and love, from their kitchen to your plate! The restaurant offers a BYO drinks option too, so you can bring your favourite wine and beer in moderation to share! The menu is not overpowering and has the right amount of variety for you to go back several times and enjoy an equally new, different dish on each occasion. The menu can be presented to your table for sharing too, if that’s your preference in experiencing this great venue’s dinner menu more widely in a single visit! Earlier in the day, the cafe is a great visit for brunch and coffee, but don’t be in a hurry as it’s great to stop and experience the botanical garden surroundings here! Please, please book ahead for dinner! And also if you are with a large group, just double check they have all your orders, as we’ve been twice with a group of 8-10 people and someone’s meal has ended up forgotten both times! Two on the first visit and four on the second visit! However, the yum is ten star. If you live locally and want to spoil yourself; it’s definitely a great venue! And if you’re visiting and want to eat well in a unique Centralian environment, you too will love the Bean Tree!

We decided to have breakfast at this cafe rather than the bland hotel restaurant and it was such a terrific decision! We both had smashed avo with extra bacon (and my friend also had a perfectly poached egg). The avo was outstanding, served with pepitas, feta and baby tomatoes and drizzled with olive oil. There was a generous serving of bacon, which wasn't full of fat and was cooked perfectly. Service was excellent too and the coffee was one of the best we'd had in Central Australia. There was both indoor and outdoor seating and the garden setting was very pleasant. This was a gem of a find and highly recommended.

Had been told to come here & it was worth it. We both had Satay chicken & an iced coffee & chocolate. Satay chicken was delicious. They had tables in the shade ( a must in Alice) We took home some baked cheesecake for after dinner & it was delicious.

We both had the vegan breakfast but our avocado was all brown in the middle. Upon back and forth negotiations with the chef we were told all the avos were like that or green. We asked for coffees as an alternative as the meal was already $26 with gf bread but we’re told coffee was more expensive than avos. He asked if we wanted more beans (that came out in a tiny compote) We asked if we could have two serves of the beans with toast instead but told no, only one. The bread came out and wasn’t gf so hubby couldn’t have it anyway! Just spent $53 on two meals and both still hungry 😞 Lovely spot but disappointed with the whole café experience.

The cafe is well located in the Olive Pink Botanic Gardens and aswell as great breakfast or lunch destination you must take a walk around the small but interesting gardens. It made me pause and be mindful of the small details and differences in desert plants. A nice walk up the hill behind the cafe is also worthwhile for the view.

We had a beautiful brekkie in the Botanic Gardens. The food was great with fresh juice. After a very enjoyable meal in the garden area we strolled up the hill to meet the locals and almost got bowled over by one bounding through very close by. All in all, a great experience.

A wonderful location for dinner outdoors with lovely scenery and even rock wallabies on the rocks. Lovely Thai food, we especially enjoyed the Thai green curry. You can eat indoors if the weather isn’t great. Bookings recommended as it was popular on a Saturday night. We enjoyed the short walk from our hotel and a look around the gardens before dinner.

I always visit Olive Pink when I'm in Alice Springs, but this was the first time I had breakfast there. It's a ten minute walk from the Desert Palms where I was staying, which has no on-site restaurant. (It's very nice rooms have full kitchens - it's self-catering.) Breakfasting among the birds (don't feed them!) at Bean Tree is delightful. Already in the high 20's at 8 am, gentle mist sprays keep you cool (but watch where you sit as you may get a little damp.) The breakfasts are very generous and the coffees excellent. There is an indoor section, but why sit inside on a Central Australian morning? Wander through the garden before heading off - the bower birds are always about, and babblers joined in the two mornings I went.

Great little venue with rustic views of the Botanical gardens and the surrounding bush land. We dined outside on a quirky collection of furniture. The service was good and the meals all very tasty. Had a visit from a residential goanna as we dined . Good shaded eating areas and the meal costs were average for a lunchtime venue.

What a hidden gem! The setting was lovely, although if you go for an early breakfast, wear something warm because it's all outdoors and quite shady. The Eggs Benny and bacon was delicious, as was the Big Breakfast. Very filling. The OJ was freshly squeezed, and the coffee hot. The service was good, and we didn't have to wait long for it to arrive. Thoroughly recommend, particularly if you're staying at Desert Palms, Double Tree or Lasseters. It's only a short walk along the Todd River.

Awesome breakfast in a very nice environment. My Bacon Eggs Benny (I love the abbreviation) was cooked to perfection. The hollandaise had the right consistency and tase. The poached perfect as well, not to runny and not too hard. The bacon, what can I say other than perfect!

We walked up the hill in the botanical gardens and then saw the café. We decided to have lunch in the garden area which was lovely. The snapper burger was delicious if a bit expensive…. $29.

Beautiful surroundings, great staff, great food. Totally recommended; if you are in Alice Springs don't miss this place (or the botanic Gardens, for that matter).
