Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is an excellent Indian restaurant that offers a good variety of plates at reasonable prices. It is possible to order various small plates and share everything so everyone can try a tasteful meal. The service is also very kind and efficient. I loved the...experience!More

It was my favourite, went there after a long time and was taken aback. Sizes reduced, naan size almost half. Service very sweet and pleasant but unprofessional . Simple tap beer came after the mains and two reminders. The potatoes in the dosa were not...tempered just blobs of potatoes. Flavours of non veg dishes were nice. Probably wont go back in a hurry. Seeing other reviews re portion sizes most by people of Indian origin looks like it is catering more to non Indian palateMore

Malabar provides the real flavors of India, from classic south Indian vegetarian through a variety of meat dishes. The Bangalore and Keema dosai made excellent starters and were substantial enough to make a meal on if we hadn't been tempted by the mains.. The palak...paneer and railway chicken were delicious and, although labeled medium, did not blow us away with spiciness. Although some reviews have praised the decor, the venue is plain. It is clear you are there for the food. Excellent service and conveniently located five minutes from the Kings Cross train station.More

So pleased we booked as even on a Wednesday evening every table was taken by 8pm. No surprise given the quality of food and service from all the team plus very reasonably priced including the 5 dollar corkage.

This restaurant was literally minutes from the hotel where we were staying in Sydney. You know when you read a review and you wonder if it’s going to be any good, or at least as good as the reviews say? Well I’m delighted to say...that this restaurant is as GOOD if not BETTER than most of the reviews say. Word of warning though, BOOK, BOOK, BOOK your table. We arrived on a Sunday night, there was a line waiting outside the door and since they also do takeaway food the wait was long for those people. Fortunately we had a table booked. Staff were attentive, knowledgeable and courteous at all times. The food was EXCEPTIONAL I’m just going to post a few pics and the bill so you know what we had and what to expect cost wise. It was worth every penny, if you’re over this way do yourself a favour and visit MALABARMore

We were along for the ride as relatives chose Malabar for a dinner for six during the holidays. We were very impressed with the entire experience. Excellent service, great variety of menu choices, really fine food, and a relaxed atmosphere not too loud like many...restaurants nowadays. We will be back!More

What a gem in Sydney. Worth the short trip out of the CBD. Beautifully decorated Indian restaurant. White linen table cloths and napkins, wall art reflecting the Indian heritage. We were welcomed promptly and shown to our table. Water was poured, drinks order taken and...menus left with us. Order was quickly taken. Meals came out in reasonable time and each course / meal we had was of excellent quality. I would especially recommend their signature dish. The mains were flavoursome, piping hot and the garlic nan was amazing. Soft in the inside and crispy on the outside. The desert platter was amazing and the three deserts tasted even better when combined. Drinks list is decent particularly for a BYO and the prices were very reasonable. We are going back on Christmas Eve and recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Indian food.More

Atmosphere was good, service good, very welcoming, smell was good, food was very good. Overall there was a strong sense of not being ‘just another indian’ with a distinct regional twist. We had goat curry with bones in (no problem) which was great, baby eggplant...with potato was great, chana dhal with pumpkin good and goanese fish curry - not sure what kind of fish, okay but not my favourite. Not as chili hot as I expected. Serve sizes looked small on website but were generous in reality. Flaky flatbread (forget name) was great. Overall a really nice place for a curry. We had a new zealand pinot at $60 and four curries with naan, plus the flaky one and two serves rice for $240 total. I would go again.More

We had the seafood banquet for 8 people. The service was very good and all the food was fantastic. The prawn starter was very tasty and the dosa was nice and crisp. All the mains were very good. In particular the fish and chicken were...great. Definitely the best Indian meal I have had in years.More

We booked this restaurant as it is close to the Griffin theatre The food is very good The waiter was very pleasant but had a lot of trouble understanding our order and we mostly ordered the special to make it as quick as we could.... One person stated that she would have two entrees as her meal and this came before the rest of the meals. Another who did not order the special meal came 10 minutes after the rest .More
