Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I'm guessing that this store is the original Bourke St Bakery and it was a cut above the other branches that I've been to. The croissant was much better - only somewhat flaky and buttery but good for the price - and the coffee was heavy and syrupy but still creamy. Still serving the mid market rather than being a fancy bakery but doing it very well.

ordered one to take home, and it was still crispy with strong butter smell even after an hour travel. Most croissant cant survive the wait.
there was a short queue in front of the shop.be patient, the queue moved on efficiently.

Tried their famous pork sausage and fennel sausage roll... and been back for more ever since! Love their beef and chicken pies too. Inside is big chunky meats with nice sauce, outside is crispy pastries. On top of that, they have a variety of sweet tarts, croissants, and cakes (Love their almond croissants!) and nice coffees. It’s a complete cafe experience in a cute setting.

Tried a selection of baked goods. Most were ok. The almond croissant however was obviously prepared a few days (or longer) before as the flakiness and expected texture of the croissant layering was lost to a stale slightly damp consistency. There was that slight taste of the inside of a fridge as if the pastry had been sitting inside one for a while.
The danish was much better with a flaky consistency and a lovely buttery taste to the pastry.
You can get exceptional baked goods in Sydney. Standards are very high and essentially old product can’t really be sold I would say.
Thanks

Excellent quiche, egg flavour was soft on the inside with a hard but not flaky crust. Perfect quiche. The croissants were amazing and the coffees went well with them all. Pastries to die for.

Outstanding bakery and sandwich shop. We stopped here on our way from the CBD to a picnic lunch in centennial park. The line was out the door when we arrived but the folks behind the counter were hustling orders. I ordered a chicken sandwich and my wife a salad. When we sat down to eat them after our walk, we found both to be outstanding. There is a reason the line was long. Worth the wait. Maybe 20 minutes. I did order a pain au chocolate because it looked so authentic. I have not found any place that can make them like they do in Paris and this was no exception. Not a reason to miss this place. We highly recommend it!

When you see a line out the door, you know something good is happening! It's was a two pronged mission - get some breakfast and capture some good pastry for after dinner. Fortunately the gentlemen behind the counter pointed out the hot quiche in the oven, not visible in the case. Most excellent ham & cheese quiche! The cakes and tortes we brought home barely made it to dinner.

After knowing about this place for years and years and trying out all the different brach outlets around Sydney, finally had a chance to come to where it all began. Cute little corner store with delectable looking pastries in the store. We came late afternoon when most things were sold but still managed to enjoy a cuppa and a pastry sitting outside and enjoying watching the world go by. Glad to be here once.

Just back from the waterfront this little bakery was jumping at 8 am on Sunday morning. Lovely coffee (plus they know what “extra hot” means... well done). Nice selection of tasty breakfast treats. I recommend the ham and cheese croissant. Definitely worth checking out this place.

I have been going to the OG Bourke Street Bakery for more than 15 years, I used to live across the street at one point (now a Light Rail track and park).
For me BSB’s Pane Au Chocolat is the best ever, always fresh with crunchy exterior pastry often warm and on the inside with dark chocolate. I prefer these over Lune and most others I have tried as I do not favour sweeter pastry.
Also, their skim (and likely non-skim) Mocchas are great as they use dark chocolate nibs instead of sweet sickly syrup a lot of others use.
The “vibe” in a lot of their boulangeries has gone a little down hill the last few years, the staff just seem a little less motivated and charismatic compared to the good old days.
As long as the coffee and the Pane Au’s stay on point though, they have a customer for life in me!

Handy location in front of the Newtown station bus stop (stand c), the coffee was sublime!
I was tempted by one of the sweet treats in the window, a lemon curd trust, and it did not disappoint.
Has a few tables, but isn’t a full blown cafe and doesn’t pretend to be.
Would highly recommend.

Found this place watching YouTube travel videos. Locals love it so we had to try it.
It's walking distance from most hotels. But we decided to take the Ferry from Circular Quay and got off at Barangaroo Wharf. It's across the street from the Wharf.
Line to order is in the street side entrance. They are super efficient. So if you see a line, no worries.
Got the Fennel and Sausage Roll. Added some tomato sauce. It delicious.
Ordered a large Latte also. Yummy. Perfect breakfast.
Baristas are really efficient. It's impressive watching them work as a team in there.

Great for the area to have this iconic cafe and bakery. It is a well known entity but this outlet is lacking a little something.
