Great atmosphere ...check! Great Food ...check! Great service ...check! All in a setting that offers virtually 270 degree views of Sydney from the 36th floor ...check! This place IS pricey but the T-Bone was absolutely fabulous and the desserts divine.

I think most reviews capture the essence of this restaurant - visit for the view, not necessarily the food. It was not terrible, but nothing special either given you are paying top dollar. Bar was ok - very loud clubby music which seemed a bit out of place. Service good all around. Can be so much more...

It's seriously expensive for what you get, the menu is uninteresting and the food is just as uninteresting. The service so so and I wish that restaurants who hire international students at least train them. Wanted 20 minutes for a Margherita and in the meantime had a bottle of beer tipped over me. A very sad experience. Never again.

The only going for this venue is the view. The service is rushed, inattentive and not personal. The menu is so so and uninspiring. For the views head to the Museum of Contemporary Art rooftop bar and for dinner Bennelong or even Cafe Sydney if you're really after a view.

Please note - When starting my review, I struggled as to whether or not I should "ding" Altitude for the "lie" they told me when I checked in. I decided to share my honest opinion and disappointment with the seating arrangements and only give this a "4" or "Very Good" rating. Here's why: When I checked in, I noted that... More

My partner booked us a table for our anniversary dinner at Altitude. He informed them when he booked that it was for anniversary. They gave us the happy anniversary chocolate plate to welcome which was very nice of them. We went for the five course set menu and I have special requests which I didn't tell them in advance that... The restaurant has amazing views over Sydney Harbour and we enjoyed watching dusk turn into night, the departure of a cruise ship and the opera house decorated in light with poppies for November 11. The service was friendly but not attentive to the level it should be, the food reads better on the menu than presented on the plate, particularly... More

We came here post dinner for a cocktail. Even though the restaurant was closing in 20 minutes the staff was very welcoming and accommodating. We sipped on some amazing cocktails while enjoying the view of the opera house and the harbour bridge in one frame. Breathtaking! For such an iconic venue the service matches it perfectly. Well done! Special thanks... More

I was very disappointed absolutely terrible food. We had the degustation menu, food lacked flavour, poorly presented. the main of lamb was the worse dish, lamb rolled in a roll shape, wrapped around in bread with vegetables that tasted strange, prawn also had a strange, not fresh taste. Would not recommend. I class myself as a foodie, the worst food... More

Went to The Altitude Bar on a Saturday evening for pre-dinner drinks - very crowded and quite noisy - so we didn't stay. However. returned on Sunday evening to find a much more pleasant environment. We were able to have a table by the window overlooking the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Harbour in general. A really nice ambience about... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
