Would really recommend the breaky wrap ! I could have eaten five more of those. 🥰 disclaimer: only had one. Good coffee as well.

Found this gem in Darlinghurst when looking for somewhere to have lunch with two girlfriends. From the minute we entered this Cafe we were greeted so cheerfully & warm. Service, food & prices excellent. Biggest surprise was our waiter learning it was my Birthday. Firstly...he sang Happy Birthday to me. Once we had finished our delicious meals a I was beyond surprised to receive a magnificent a small cake with a Sparkling Candle & another Happy Birthday song from the staff & customers. I will be back, not only for the food but for the incredible hospitality.More

Pretty good but portions smaller and staff rushed. May be a victim of its own success. Used to enjoy going but now avoid weekends there. Too crowded.

Another Sunday, another breakfast cock-up. We dined at Rusty Rabbit Darlinghurst and sat outside. The surrounding footpath isn't level so the incline on our table and chairs made my bad back even worse. Please fix, guys. Waiter One listed coffee size choices: Small, Large, Jumbo....Did they offer Medium? Medium is Large, I was told, so Large is what I ordered. I got Small. Someone else's Small. Not long after, Waiter Two appeared and apologised; my Medium eventually arrived. Verdict: after all that, the coffees were good. Waiter Three took our meal order. How did I want my eggs? "Poached." She left. Waiter Two returned. How I did I want my eggs? "Poached," I repeated, "Waiter Three already asked". Partner had ordered a Falafel Stack: * grated cucumber * hummus * mint * pickled eggplant * pomegranate * sweet potato * tahini * turnip His comments: undersized falafel, bright green inside, overfried outside. Hommus, absent. Way too much sweet (??) tahini sauce. Two matchsticks of turnip. Verdict: for $19, a stingy and poor attempt at flavours of the Middle East. I ordered a vegetarian Feeling Rusty?, replacing bacon with avocado: * avocado * baked beans * eggs your way * haloumi * hashbrown * sourdough toast * spinach I requested the toast on a side plate along with a smidge of Vegemite. My comments: Toast and Vegemite arrived on a side plate as ordered, thank you. Beans served in a small paper cup in the centre of the plate (weird). No spoon supplied to eat them. All other items placed neatly around the cup, except for my two poached eggs, missing in action. The swapped avocado was present but so was the bacon. Waiter Two returned, puzzled; was I sure my eggs were missing? "Do you see two eggs on the plate?" I asked? Back to the kitchen he went, returning with two offers: resupply the meal correctly or deduct the cost of two eggs from the bill. I chose the latter. "May I please have a spoon to eat the beans?" Waiter Two brought one smaller than the teaspoon I used to stir my coffee. "May I have a tablespoon, please." Problem solved. Along with all the mishaps, the breakfast presentation was amateurish at best. I have some beautiful and stunning photos of breakfasts past enjoyed at Rusty Rabbit, so I really don't understand what's happening there, especially since customers were lining up to dine by the time we left. Whoever's serving up the food needs a getaway in Melbourne to reacquaint and reset. A big saving grace for this discouraging experience is that on presentation of the bill, Waiter Two comped my breakfast, saving us $22. We appreciated his kindness. Right now we're financially strapped and can only afford to dine out once a week. I'd prefer that experience to be better than something we can create ourselves at home.More

Situated in Darlinghurst this little cafe has a great menu that will suit most appetites. There is an all day breakfast menu for those who get up late which is varied. I chose the sweet potato & corn fritter which was yummy and filling. The...staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend booking in advance, I did come on a Monday and it filled out over the course of the time. It’s not cheap but the food is fresh and of the best quality hence the price.More

We had breakfast here this week. It was super busy, so a good idea to book ahead if you want to go. The coffee was quite bitter for me and the food average. We were served by various members of staff who were a little...abrupt in their service. Overall, an overrated cafe. You can definitely find better elsewhere, so avoid the hype.More

A quaint, rustic cafe located on a street corner in Darlinghurst. The Rusty Rabbit is perfect for afternoon brunch or a cup of coffee in the relaxing and warm family atmosphere. Although the interior isn't much from the outside, the food presentation and taste itself...speaks otherwise. 🍽 DISHES SAMPLED ⭕️ GINGER NINJA | The presentation of this dish was amazing despite it essentially being salmon on toast. I could really taste the ginger seasoning, however the dish in some sections went overboard on the honey sesame. This unfortunately overpowered the taste of salmon, avocado and feta and upset the balance of flavour. ⭕️ CHEESECAKE PANCAKE | This dessert is a must try if you ever stop by The Rusty Rabbit. The pancake texture was so incredibly fluffy and the presentation was immaculate just as advertised. It literally felt like I was tasting a cheesecake in the form of a pancake (a perfect match for the name!) and the serving was surprisingly generous and filling. The maple syrup, blueberries and strawberries really complimented the pancake batter and I really couldn't fault the dish overall. Instagram: @sydneyfoodreviewerMore
