We came here a couple of years ago and loved it. This time the food was average to brilliant, but inconsistent. The service was efficient but cold. It was incredibly expensive. We drank tap water and were charged $10 per bottle for filtered water, $20...in total! This really annoys us when 4 courses are $180 and small pours of wine all $20-$30. Our meal for 2 came to $700! We ordered the sides with mains. A greasy burnt butter mash was underseasoned and $15. A side salad of 10 beautiful leaves lightly dressed was also $15. The views are nice but this feels like a place on the take and past its prime. A wonderful restaurant can be expensive but still have you feeling when you’ve left like it’s been a wonderful experience. We didn’t get that this time.More

My husband and I have been to Aria two times previously, the first time 12 years ago and then 7 years ago. I still remember our experience and the food was absolutely amazing, the truffle mashed potato was so good we savored every bite. This...time around however was a totally different experience. We had booked a month earlier for our 20th Wedding anniversary and we were a bit disappointed that we weren't seated in the main section of the restaurant with views of the opera house and harbour bridge. Instead we were on the side of the building and I had an obscured view of the harbour bridge. Upon arrival the waiter seated us to our table however I found it strange in such a high quality restaurant that our napkins weren't placed on our laps as per previous occasions, however it wasnt a big problem just an observation. The waiter also seemed not very genuine and offered us champagne to celebrate our wedding. We agreed and although we knew we would be paying for the glass, we were quite shocked that the glass he gave us was $36 per glass and the champagne glass was a 1/4 filled. Furthermore we were offered sparkling or still water, now I wouldn't dare ask the waiter is the sparkling water free as I assumed it would be considering how much money we would be spending, but to charge $10 per person for lightly sparkling water was an absolute rip off. When the waiter asked us if we would like more wine and we declined as we don't drink very much, he actually seemed quite annoyed by the fact and walked away. The food that arrived was lovely, however nothing compared to our previous experiences and it was very obvious that Matt Moran was no longer in charge. We actually walked away quite disappointed as we were expecting so much as we had in the past and the whole experience was a let down. The atmosphere, service and food was not up to the standard we were expecting in such a restaurant and unfortunately will not be coming back.More

Attended Aria for a graduation celebration dinner and the menu and service could not be faulted. We chose to do the four course menu and each dish selected was incredible. My favorite dishes despite being a hard choice were the Moreton bay bug starter, the...pork jowl second course and the angus beef fillet. the standout for the night (being a dessert lover) was the Raspberry Soufflé, which was simply perfect. Would definitely recommend to anyone seeking an amazing menu accompanied with exceptional service.More

Loved the new menu. Such exquisite flavour combinations, every course a winner. Everything cooked to perfection. Many restaurants fail to deliver when they get to the dessert course, but at Aria the desserts are up to the high standards of the preceding three course. Perhaps...exceeded in this instance.More

We have been to Aria many times and loved it. Not so last night. Twenty minutes for wine to arrive, wrong water brought to the table, other people’s wine brought to our table, had to ask for bread twice and water refills. Coffee was cold...and burnt. The food was well presented but the new chef’s food is nowhere near as good as in the past. The atmosphere was hectic and chaotic. The staff said this was because they were full, Aria is generally a busy restaurant and it has always been a calm relaxed fine dining experience. What a shame it has changed.More

We booked back at Aria as soon as it reopened after the Sydney 2021 lockdown and were thrilled with the menu and wine options. Three or four course options plus a degustation. We went for the three course option (amuse bouche, palate cleanser and petit...fours added in). We are light eaters so appreciated that all the courses were small and exquisitely prepared. The bug tail starter was very special and we had the duck and lamb as main courses. Shouldn't be happier with the quality and the staff were genuinely enthusiastic to be back. Very good wine list with sensible half bottle options as well.More
