If you are quick enough to get a window view seat in the evening you will enjoy stunning views of the Harbour Bridge and the lights of North Sydney. Decor in Blu Bar is outdated and needs to improve for a 5-star venue. Drink selection was reasonable but not sensational.

The company hosted an evening cocktail at the bar and it was an excellent choice as it offered great views of Sydney. The canapes were good too.

The people's expectation of a bar at Shangri-La hotel will be changed after visiting this bar on 36th floor of its tower. I was staying at the hotel, and thought I would enjoy a couple of nice cocktails there. They have a sign on the ground floor to let people know the bar has dress code. It is not that... More

Lucky the view is wonderful as the service is abysmal. The staff walk past and don't even look at you even though you try to get their attention. We often stay at the Shangri La and I love the hotel and we have often had drinks at Blu Bar and the service is always very bad. We only come back... More

I recently reviewed this bar under the Shangri La Hotel site. Please refer to that review. In short, great views, poor service.

The views are great and the drinks fine like any bar. However, the service was really average. Disappointed given the high prices.

We enjoyed a drink here prior to eating at the Altitude Restaurant. We were quickly seated at a reserved table and enjoyed one of their cocktails before dinner. It wasn't too busy when we visited and being on the 36th floor it has great views over Sydney and had a good atmosphere. Complimentary nuts and crisps were not resisted but... More

I was recommended to visit this bar for a drink at sunset by lots of locals when I was in Sydney. I must say that the views all around the harbour are truly amazing. Great 230 degree vista from the 36th floor and worth the trip for that alone. However the staff were not good, the service was mixed and... More

Hopeless. This is our 3rd time to this bar and we still refer to it as the "Attitude " bar !!! Don't ask for blinds to be drawn for sun light ( how rude). Don't ask for the manager ( will never appear). Service very poor every time. We and friends have never had a pleasant experience here. Get over... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
