My wife and I attended on a Monday for lunch and we walked in without a booking. We were pleasantly surprised with the efficiency of just one experienced waitress who was able to look after all the guests. We checked the menu and found a...great variety of seafood dishes on offer, as well as an option of eye fillet steak for people who don't eat seafood. Staff were warm, friendly and helpful. We were supplied with freshly baked, hot bread rolls before our meal. We shared a bottle of sparking mineral water and I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc wine with my meal. My wife chose the Spanish style seafood stew consisting of tiger prawns, salmon, ling, scallops, mussels, calamari, garlic, tomato and smoked paprika. She loved the taste and enjoyed every mouthful. I ordered the special, Ocean Trout served with mashed potato, whole green beans and tomato. We both adored the meals and the freshness of the produce. For dessert, my wife ordered the delicious, Crème Brulee with seasonal fruit and a shortbread biscuit and I had the Eton Mess, consisting of Chantilly cream and an assortment of passionfruit and fresh berries. Both desserts were divine. The bill with the tip, came to $135 for lunch, but the food, service and ambiance was worth it. The food here is a revelation. I think this is our latest, favourite restaurant in Sydney and a meal here is highly recommended.More
We had takeaway from this restaurant as we were staying a few doors down in a Airbnb and it was very reasonably priced and top quality. Certainly made me put it on the list for a must do restaurant night out for the future.
Cosy and friendly place with nice atmosphere. Garth was excellent with overview of things and his wines were excellent. I will be telling friends and will be back. Between 2 local pubs so you can meet at either before dinner. Great spot!
We chose this restaurant to celebrate a few special accomplishments within our family. I booked online and received a confirmation email but when we arrived they were only expecting 2 people not the 4 I booked for. As a result we were seated upstairs and...all but forgotten about. We were offered water straight away but it was more than 30 mins before we were offered drinks and then another 15mins before we got them. The entrees were tasty and as expected and arrived soon after the wine. The mains were about another 30 mins. Turns out we were offered the previous days specials menu so one of our meals was completely wrong. My own meal (the salmon) was very underwhelming- no roast pumpkin or tomato as described on the menu. The service along the way was virtually non existent- no offers of additional drinks and we had to ask to get additional water for the table. We first dined at this restaurant 25 years ago and occasionally since then. We left feeling the food was ok, but we won’t be back.More
Six of us attended on the 17th February for a birthday celebration. From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. Rachel our waitress looked after us with professional service. When we told her that it was a birthday celebration she presented us with two plates...of dessert treats for the birthday guests. One guest could not eat any of the entrees so she organised with the chef to give him tempura vegetables. I thought that this type of service was long gone.
We thoroughly enjoyed the night. A big thanks to the staff, especially Rachel.
We will definitely be back.More
As a last minute inspiration my husband & myself decided to lob in here for an early dinner seeing were were up on Observatory Hill on Sunday afternoon last.
Whilst the report online wrongly said it was closed (! FIX THAT!) we phoned & ..BINGO!..... we secured a booking.
It is a very comfortable & Covid-spaced interior, with graciously themed oceanic colours/decor--but not corny.
The menus is well considered, modern in approach without being tricked up. Plus a good wine list.
I particularly applauded the wonderful range of imaginative starters..not least those fabulous Sydney Rock oysters & a house speciality > Momo Dumplings..THEY were quite simply> superb!
My Orange Roughy fillets fried in panko were well achieved I guess, but the batter (as good as surely was) tended to dominate the soft & delicate fish somewhat. Mnn.
Oh but great shoestring chips by the way!
My husband's Seafood Stew proved outstanding ..gorgeous broth & tender luxe seafood mix stole the show!
Alas the steamed greens disappointed being way overcooked ..but when pressed as to what we thought of our dinner when paying & about to depart, in mentioning those dud veggies, the item was immediately removed from the bill.
It was OUR responsibility to complain at the table _ but we just hadn't bothered> too lazy .
So this impressive hospitality gesture plus the outstandingly professional & pleasant, helpful service (ONLY ONE WAITPERSON on duty mind!) we'd enjoyed, made a nice experience ...memorable .More
