We booked a table at 6pm for the Early bird menu, $55 for 2 courses and a glass of house wine.
Staff were efficient and friendly. I ordered tempura prawns to start which were lovely, my husband ordered kingfish, which he really enjoyed too. We both chose the Tasmanian Salmon Fillet for main, which was amazing and cooked beautifully.
Would definitely recommend and hope to return.

We were staying at an apartment rental on Kent Street and "Fish at the Rocks" was recommended to us. We were happy that we followed that recommendation. We made a reservation and were welcomed seated immediately at a nice table. We shared an order of calamari which was outstanding and far better than what is typically served at local restaurants. Our entrees of fish and chips were delicious. Service was friendly and attentive and prices were reasonable. We're not surprised that Fish at the Rocks is rated so highly.

Such fresh fish, perfectly cooked, with spectacular service. Also attentive to gf needs. Could offer gf bread though. Our entrees and mains were both perfectly cooked — my husband’s calimari battered in tapioca flour was the best I’ve ever had. I had seared scallops on tiny pillows of rice cake flavored with ginger and sweet chili sauce— extraordinary! He had spaghettini with shellfish that was perfect, and my swordfish was exceptional. We shared dessert, gf chocolate cake of course and delectable. Service: ours was just right, but the woman eating alone next to us received service over and above. She accidentally knocked over her full wine glass sending shards and wine everywhere. The two servers made sure she was ok first, then cleaned up thoroughly and replaced her glass of wine, all seamlessly. She was a terrific Canadian from Vancouver here for SydFest, lovely to talk with and grateful for the delicious fish and kind service. We left very impressed!

Made a reservation for this place due to the raving reviews. Came in attended to by the most disinterested wait staff. Meal ended being served by the same disinterested guy who printed a card surcharge onto the bill before we even chose a mode of payment. Ended up paying for the card surcharge even though I paid cash.
Had a tasting platter entree which was overpriced for the very small portion at $22 pp. The calamari was nothing special. Small breaded rings very salted with no other taste or flavour. Fishmongers Bondi has better calamari than this. Tempura prawn was also only average. Momo dumplings were moist and had some flavour, went well with the purée. Scallop with potato cake was good. I don’t recommend getting their calamari unless you like children’s food.
Shared a seafood salad main $39 which they kindly split the portions to 2 separate plates without asking. It was good. Prawn, scallop, salmon and a white fish with Thai style salad.
Maybe try their crustacean platter or mains.

We visited this restaurant 8 years ago when it was excellent. Sadly the service and food did not live up to our expectations. They advertise an early bird menu but seemed put out when we asked to see it. The ravioli starter was average at best and the Barramundi fish and chips were awful, soggy batter and the fish was soggy too. Neither of us could eat it, we were offered a dessert as compensation but declined it.
We will not be returning despite being in Sydney for a while

Super excited to have dinner after reading all the great reviews. We had been planning to have the Singapore mud crab and looked forward to it all week.
We were told it was the last mud crab and quickly ordered it before anyone else.
It was served to us watery and tasteless.
After speaking to the Manager ( who was lovely and apologetic) she confirmed the mud crabs are frozen
An average and expensive dinner.
Not good enough

We arrived at the restaurant with another couple with our bottles of wine in hand. Only to be told that they are not BYO. We explained that their website states that they are BYO. The waiter informed that the website was wrong and that we could not drink our own wine. We were quite annoyed at this, and asked whether they could make an exception as their website clearly stated that they were BYO.. Again the waiter refused and then told us that we were being rude to him. He also stated that most people that dined there were "old" and didnt care. We were then approached to order without any offer of a drink, water or otherwise. After ordering the waiter then came back and told us that although he considered us rude he would allow us to drink our own wine as a favour. At the conclusion of our meal we went to pay and that "favor" cost us $64 dollars in corkage. (only three of the four of us were drinking!) You would have to think twice about dining here again! We wont be returning thats for sure.

We arrived for a special birthday of one of our party so hopefully we would have a warm welcome on arrival but that didn't happen. After we where shown to our table our waitress plonked our menus down with a wine list then the next time she came back asked us did we want to order??? No discussion before what was on specials, no water brought to our table, not asked if we would like to order our drinks first. Surely with type of restaurant called fine dining you want to enjoy your experience not constantly being rushed to drink, eat your food and then get out. Thats how we were made to feel not good service at all. Fine dining service this was NOT. Food beautiful but thats where it ended.

This is the place for something special. Went for our COVID honeymoon dinner. Rachel and Chef were awesome and we appreciate their attentiveness and caring attitude. Entree was so yum and the crustacean platter was to die for. Dessert topped off the night. Food was pricey but worth it - alcohol always increases a price. We will be back every year for our wedding anniversary. Really made our trip special. You won’t be disappointed.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate a few special accomplishments within our family. I booked online and received a confirmation email but when we arrived they were only expecting 2 people not the 4 I booked for. As a result we were seated upstairs and all but forgotten about. We were offered water straight away but it was more than 30 mins before we were offered drinks and then another 15mins before we got them. The entrees were tasty and as expected and arrived soon after the wine. The mains were about another 30 mins. Turns out we were offered the previous days specials menu so one of our meals was completely wrong. My own meal (the salmon) was very underwhelming- no roast pumpkin or tomato as described on the menu. The service along the way was virtually non existent- no offers of additional drinks and we had to ask to get additional water for the table. We first dined at this restaurant 25 years ago and occasionally since then. We left feeling the food was ok, but we won’t be back.

My wife and I attended on a Monday for lunch and we walked in without a booking. We were pleasantly surprised with the efficiency of just one experienced waitress who was able to look after all the guests. We checked the menu and found a great variety of seafood dishes on offer, as well as an option of eye fillet steak for people who don't eat seafood. Staff were warm, friendly and helpful. We were supplied with freshly baked, hot bread rolls before our meal. We shared a bottle of sparking mineral water and I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc wine with my meal. My wife chose the Spanish style seafood stew consisting of tiger prawns, salmon, ling, scallops, mussels, calamari, garlic, tomato and smoked paprika. She loved the taste and enjoyed every mouthful. I ordered the special, Ocean Trout served with mashed potato, whole green beans and tomato. We both adored the meals and the freshness of the produce. For dessert, my wife ordered the delicious, Crème Brulee with seasonal fruit and a shortbread biscuit and I had the Eton Mess, consisting of Chantilly cream and an assortment of passionfruit and fresh berries. Both desserts were divine. The bill with the tip, came to $135 for lunch, but the food, service and ambiance was worth it. The food here is a revelation. I think this is our latest, favourite restaurant in Sydney and a meal here is highly recommended.

I have been to Fish at the Rocks before, but I always forget how good the food is until I go again. We had the dumplings, Kilpatrick oysters and seafood platter. Everything was AMAZING! The dumplings were so delicate and tender, the seafood platter was huge and the kilpatrick oysters were fresh with the perfect ration of sauce. We finished with coffee liquors and desserts, all delicious! I can not rave about this place enough. 5 stars for everything.

Finding somewhere to eat on New Year's Eve in Sydney was a challenge but Fish At The Rocks surpassed all of my expectations. We were warmly greeted with a glass of champagne and hors d'oeuvres. The menu selection was so amazing, it was difficult to choose. One of our party runs a seafood restaurant in the south of Portugal and she absolutely loved the food; it creative, beautifully presented and delicious. For entree we selected the Salt & Pepper Calamari with Thai Sauce, they were so tender and tasty, the Lobster ravioli, the grilled scallops and tempura prawns. All of the mains were amazing, I absolutely loved my Seafood salad but the other dishes were equally creative with a slight asian fusion twist. And of course the desserts didn't disappoint, they were heavenly. The location was perfect, away from the maddening crowd but just around the corner from the most spectacular views of the 2020 fireworks. What a pity we live so far away ... A huge thank you to the staff at Fish at the Rocks for making our NYE in Sydney so very special.

We booked a table for 4 of us at this fairly small restaurant and were seated immediately as we arrived. Our server was great initially in taking our drink and food order. Our water glasses also were continually refilled by whoever was walking by. The scallop appetizer ($21.90) was nicely plated with 4 scallops on the plate so each of us got to try one. The teenager in our group ordered the spaghettini ($38) with seafood which he liked and wished their was more. Everyone else shared the crustacean platter ($180) which was a huge plate of lobster, prawns, grilled shrimp and Moreton Bay Bugs along with bowl of chips (fries) and a green salad that everyone loved. After we finished our meal, no one came to clear any plates or bring the bill for over 15 minutes. I eventually walked up to the cashier and had to ask for the bill so that detracted from an otherwise great meal. Another thing to note is that the toilets are located upstairs which is reached via a winding staircase.

We had a great early dinner here with our three young children - food was great and service was thoughtful and efficient. The children’s fish and chips and calamari and chips were excellent. We really enjoyed the oysters and the fish pie was a highlight.
