Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

We have often eaten here and enjoyed the food. We had good service again this time. I enjoyed my parpadelle gamberi. The children also had a good sized children's meal... one a cheese pizza and one a chicken schnitzel. I didn't think the 'meat lover's' pizza was as good as it seemed to have a small variety of cheap meat... like cabanossi on it. The tables are quite squished together with plastic tablecloths. You pay high prices because of the area... right next to a huge rock in 'The Rocks'.

This was a lovely little place to eat right at the back of our hotel. I had cabonara and my wife just had fish and chips but the two pieces of fish she had were absolutely huge. Staff were really great to us. sat outside and had a few beers. My meal I couldn't finish because there was so much. Staff went out of their way to find out the history of the building. went back for a pizza and beers and wasn't the best I have to admit but this was a restaurant not a fast food take away joint. Anyway it is in a cosy spot and we enjoyed it...Pricey but everything around the rocks is haha

Food was very poor quality. I had a spaghetti marinara. Very little fresh fish, the menu said Tuna (I mistakenly thought it would be fresh), but when I asked the wait staff I was told it was from a can. My wife had a chicken dish which was over $36, the vegetables were rock hard. The salt from the salt shaker was damp so I had to unscrew the bottom of the shaker to use the salt. Staff took my concerns well. apologised and weren't rude. They offered a discount, which I accepted. However, we left there feeling very disappointed and don't plan on returning anytime soon.

This used to be a fantastic little authentic Italian but dinner last night was really awful. 4 bad meals out of 4 selections. Way too much salt in pastas. Pizza tasted like a frozen pizza heated up. Not sure how to describe the veal. Shiny and thin?? Atmosphere was dull for a Friday night in the Rocks and now I know why. Got refunded for one of the pastas and Manager’s response was sorry the tortellini was a little salty but look around at all the people?? I suppose they rely on tourists who don’t bother writing reviews or coming back. Wouldn’t recommend.

My wife and I ate at this establishment and our experience was poor. I ordered the Seafood Risotto my wife the Lasagne. We asked for a garlic bread to be served with our mains. The garlic bread turned up almost immediately. It took a further 35 minutes for our food to arrive, just before we leftThe seafood within the risotto was fantastic however the risotto was bland and tasteless. My wife’s lasagne again very bland. At no point after our order was taken did a member of staff ask how our experience within their restaurant was. Poor from start to finish

Poorly prepared mediocre to terrible food - waitstaff were friendly but had no idea about the menu or the wine list. Ordered a agnolotti which was passable but nothing that couldn’t be created at home with a Latina pre made pasta meal and bottled sauce. My sister ordered the Saltimbocca alla Romana - what arrived were pieces of grey looking veal covered in cheese with the consistency of clag glue, wrapped in sickly looking prosciutto, which I was told was inedible. My niece had the fettuccine Verde Boscaiola which truly looked like it had been whipped up by a pub chef who hasn’t glanced at a recipe since 1978. All of this would be an understandable but disappointing meal; if it hasn’t been priced that set expectations of a well regarded restaurant when in fact the standard of food was on par with a bad economy plane meal.
The manager was obliging and offered to comp the veal dish, but this could not make up for a terrible experience in a noisy atmosphere with the charm of a food court. If you want authentic Italian food avoid this place at all costs!

We just ate at Caminetto for the second and final time.
Our first meal of two pizzas last week had been fine. We weren’t impressed with their offhand attitude to us as tourists, but tonight we were ravenous having been on an all day excursion and the restaurant was just behind our hotel, so we decided to give them another try.
The pizza was still fine but my lasagne was awful, no bechamel sauce at all, tasteless, and swimming in unseasoned, lukewarm tomato sauce. There was no chance to complain as, while the busy waitresses were doing their best, the manager and other male staff members rudely completely ignored us, while fawning all over their local customers …
If you are staying in Sydney CBD area on holiday, avoid this restaurant at all costs!

We arrived here at 6.30pm, beautiful setting in the rocks but a crazy place. Waiters don’t know what they are doing, it’s crazy busy and they all shout at each other constantly. We had a starter and main course and the plates remained on the table well after we had eaten in fact 1.hour 30 mins after they were still there, starter, main and side plates. We waited 56 minutes for our drinks despite asking several times. The food was poor - non of it was fresh. It’s in a great location but apart from that way over priced for a poor meal with shocking service and inexperienced staff.

Four of us had dinner here. Lovely location, some staff good, others not so good. The food was pretty average really - nothing to write home about. I had a pizza, it had way too much cheese to the point of being gooey and oily in the middle. Others in the group had a spaghetti dish and gnocchi, again, pretty average and not what you’d expect from an ‘authentic’ Italian.

We read a bunch of Trip Advisor positive reviews before making a reservation here .
Big mistake !
This restaurant , I can categorically say , is very poor .
It is a restaurant in the Rocks area of Sydney . That’s the only real thing on the website ..
We saw no Italian staff on site and the food was a poor imitation of what you would expect from a “ brand “ purporting to be Italian .
We were a table of 4 … 2 people got their starters . 10 mins later the second 2 diners got their entrées ..
We then had 2 main courses delivered and 10 mins later 2 more .
Absolutely terrible service
We bought two of the most expensive wines on their list ( a very poor choice available by the way ) and then never saw a server again .. so we paid our bill and went over the road for more drinks ..
At the end I told the manager we felt the food and service was terrible and he told us they were understaffed and tomorrow night when the cruise ship was in it would be worse !
Then charged us the full price !
Words fail me !
If you go here after reading this .. you now only have yourself to blame .
Would not return .

Found this little gem just out the back of our hotel (Rydges Sydney Harbor), nestled against the rack face with its cosy tables under umbrellas and soft lighting. Loved the atmosphere and location so much. To be honest, I took no notice of the pricing but the food was delicious and the service was reasonably prompt.
There were no deserts listed on the main menu, so I ordered extra garlic bread instead - but then a desert menu was brought later. If I'd been told there was a separate menu I could have had Tiramisu instead of garlic bread :) - but it was yum anyway.

My wife and I were on a 35 day vacation trip to Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia. During that time we ate at many high end restaurants and also spent 17 days on a luxury high end cruise ship. The meal we had at Caminetto was the best meal of our entire vacation. We liked it so much we came back for a second dinner two days later. Food was great and the service was very good. The location, set in the historic Rocks section of Sydney was another special feature. I especially recommend the bolognese and the veal saltimbocca.

This is the furthest thing from Italian food there is . Shameful to call it Italian. The pizza was frozen from the supermarket , the wait staff were terribly inattentive and inexperienced , the heater was on 1/4 strength because it was broken (so we and the other people around us FROZE) , entrees came out after mains. We are not unreasonable peeps - if the food was edible , we could forgive the terrible service and exorbitant prices. We were chatting to fellow diners from Canada who felt the same. This is not italian food !!!!

Well positioned in the middle of the rocks area, it had a good feel to it at first glance but the food and service let it down.
The good; the staff were prompt and attentive and we were given the choice of seats, quite pleasant.
The mediocre; the food. The six unshelled prawns were really not king prawns and they were floury no amount of cooking could disguise the reality that they were past their prime. The salad adequate but boring without any hint of dressing. The chips were OK. On to the spaghetti and meatballs. This was good but the meatballs were generic and set around the edge of the spaghetti. They are the hero of the dish and should not be left to the customer to self sauce them. They were to my mind, blended rather than minced and cooked separately from the spaghetti. Also, when do you provide a knife and fork with no spoon to eat spaghetti.
The drinks were moderately priced but the list was bereft of any Italian wines. A Bloody Mary was ordered; it would have been fine to use as a base for klipatrick oysters but was brutal with the stick of celery, strangely fresh, almost laughed at the drink. Strangely it was very reasonably priced in contrast to the food prices. Generally the pricing indicated they were proud of their food and that was the pity.

The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
