Superb location to sink up Sydney at its finest. Visited after climbing the bridge. Only planned a couple of drinks, ended up staying for several drinks and shared a meal too. Well worth visiting, but save your pocket money. A large rioja and a tiramisu...cost 43 AUSD. I can't get ripped off when holidaying from UK, but can and did visiting the opera bar, but still a great experience.More

A spot that cannot be replicated. Exceptional, uninterrupted views across the Harbour to the Rocks and the Harbour Bridge. The staff were very aloof and unhelpful from the start. The bar staff looked at us with disdain when we dared to ask for tap water....We had just finished the Sydney Marathon and it was a hot day. We also ordered food and drinks through the app barcode on the tables. The staff brought over the food and when we asked for more glasses, they told us to walk over to the bar to get them ourselves. I also note each transaction tried to add a tip before any element of customer service had been provided. To top off the customer service, as we left, we observed security staff berating a young family for daring to sit on the edge of the Opera House to look at the view. The large security guards from Opera Bar were threatening to remove the young family physically when all they wanted to do was take a couple of photos. Just because you work at a bar with exceptional views, does not mean you are unable to be professional, friendly and provide even a basic level of customer service, even to those that are just there to take photos. The prices are very high, the food and drinks are good but not worth the high prices and the staff are certainly not worth a tip given their attitude to the customers that are paying for the drinks and food. I would go again but only to take photos.More

Spontaneous lunch with my daughter. View is amazing! We ordered via the app from our table. We order simple… Pizza and Fries. Service was quick and food was amazing. We also got to enjoy a live band which was lovely. We did choose to sit...close to the water… the cheeky seagulls also liked my lunch. So be careful they actually steal food from a raised hand. All in all great experience.More

We arrived here, after walking the promenade (from the FIFA World Cup area) to the Sydney opera house as dusk was falling. It seemed like a perfect stop, with live musicians in the area. It was nice enough- with chatter all around, great views, and...okay food. The way the sun lit up the harbour was my highlight, and the opera bar provided the location to experience it.More

Beautiful location alongside the stunning Opera House, and the food was excellent! We came for lunch after our tour of the Opera House. We ordered using the QR code with our phone and the food came in good time. I had the gnocchi and it...was probably the best I’ve ever had, and a generous portion. My husband had the sashimi, also excellent. We sat down around 11:45, and there were plenty of tables. It filled up by the time we left (it was sunny, clear skies, and 70 degrees), so on a nice day, good to go a little early.More

Great place to stop get a beer and enjoy the location. Stunning views of the harbor bridge and the vibe is fun and lively. Food is mixed, sweet potato fries are solid but fish and chips are average at best. Don’t come here for food...just come for the experienceMore

Had drinks and some snacks here yesterday. Nice atmosphere, beautiful day but why the hell is there a kid being allowed to do card tricks for patrons (who are then asked to make a tip). Really sours the atmosphere to have the kid (and the...mother enabling this sat at a nearby table) doing this when people are trying to relax (yes the staff were aware of this)More

A couple nights ago, my friend and I lined up to get some drinks and when it was finally our turn, the bartender asked for our ID’s. This is not an issue at all as I had mine but my friend only had a photo...of her passport. The bartender then asks her if she has a credit card just so they can verify the details on her passport. Again, not an issue and she, without question pulled out her credit card. At this point, the bartender calls who I believe is the manager to verify the ID as I guess it wasn’t part of the bartender’s job. The manager, visibly annoyed, without saying hello or anything, comes up to us and starts saying to me “ I can’t serve you drinks if you don’t have an ID with you” and I go “ I already showed him my ID” then he goes “OH okay” then proceeds to be extremely condescending , rude , speaking slowly as if we don’t understand english to my friend by saying “ IN THIS COUNTRY, you need to have your physical ID as a photo is just not enough” at this point , my friend looks at me with an annoyed looked and the manager pauses saying “Were you listening to me?” And we go yea and he continues saying yea, IN THIS COUNTRY , you need your physical ID but since you have a credit card with you , this should be fine but next time, bring your ID as that’s not how it works around here” We walk out as it’s just not right to be disrespected like that. To be talked down to is awful. We were for one, compliant with everything they asked for. We didn’t question anything nor were we rude. If it’s really an issue just say “sorry ,we really cant serve you drinks without a physical ID” and we would just be on our way without any ill feelings. But since you asked if she could provide a credit card to verify the photo then it should have just been as simple as “all good just next time make sure to bring the physical ID” . Either way would have been fine. There was ZERO reason for them to be extremely rude to us. Now, I understand that it was an extremely busy night especially with Vivid and they have all been working long hours but NEVER project your frustrations onto your customers especially the ones not being rude in any way. Horrible horrible customer service and just tackless. P.S. We are Asian but are permanent residents of Australia so this country is just as much mine as it is yours. Regardless of where we are from , NOBODY deserves to be talked to like that in any way. Unless you’re white, avoid this place at all costs.More

My friend and I were touring Sydney when we started to get hungry right after visiting the Sydney Opera House. I recalled seeing a lot of recommendations on various blogs to visit the Opera Bar, so we decided to give it a try. When we...tried to figure out where the Opera Bar was, we relied on Google Maps, which wasn't immediately helpful. When I used it, it seemed to be pointing at street level roundabout, which clearly wasn't the restaurant. It took me a few minutes to figure out that nearby was a set of stairs that go down to sublevel where the Opera Bar was. Once downstairs, there's a lot of signage showing the menu and how to order, so we picked an outside table looking out at Sydney Harbour Bridge, and then used the QR codes to review and the menu and place our orders. I tried two items: - Kingfish tataki - Good. Fresh, well cut, and well dressed. - Arancini - OK. A bit small, and a bit tough in texture. Since food is ordered and paid via the QR code, there's isn't much human interaction, other than the servers dropping off the food. Very efficient, but also takes away from the whole dining experience. Overall, a good meal with a nice view. Probably a little ovepriced for what we got, but you pay for the view. Nothing special, but a safe choice for visitors.More

The highlight of my experience was undoubtedly the stunning backdrop of the Sydney Harbour and Vivid . Sipping a refreshing beer while gazing at the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge created a sense of awe and added a touch of magic to the...entire experience. However, it's worth noting that due to its popularity and scenic location, the Sydney Opera Bar can get quite busy, especially during VIVID. We were lucky enough to find a table which is no easy task at peak times. Service was ok , ordering via a QR code makes things a lot easier. Overall a nice evening spent with friends at a stunning location.More

It's not as easy to see the Bridge from the Meat and Cheese Room. It's better to sit facing out, on bar stools, near the Cocktail Bar. If you wish to be out of doors your view will be great, as long as you face the bridge... More
