It's a cool place - but its closing, and to be frank, its because its not serving the best. Service -great. Atmosphere - great. But the steak just didn't cut it. With all the great Aussie beef out there, we were served an overcooked and...tough one. Asked for it rare, but it came medium. Flavourless and dry. Sides were great, as was the prawn starter. Good luck with the new venture - and stay away from the grill!More

Five star rating for uniqueness. Don’t go here if you’re vegan, vegetarian or whatever the fancy trend is. If you like your meat then this is the place to go. Limited range but awesome quality. Great night out, good food and service👍

LP’s is set to close and become a purely wholesale. We had heard this place was good so had to make sure we visited before it’s closure.
In the backstreets of Chippendale, you will find this neighbourhood restaurant, reminiscent of a German beer hall. It...is a huge kitchen and bar encompassing the whole right hand side of the restaurant. The left side has plenty of long communal tables.
Staff know their stuff and confidently walk around in their T-shirts, with “LP’s Meats” lettered on their backs with high waisted denim to fit the inner city vibe.
LP’s Quality Meats focuses on their cold cuts, smoked meats and beef cuts. There are vegetables too, which are also very tasty.
LP's have a delicious cured ocean trout on the starters list, a generous portion and served with a with cultured cream, the flavour combinations were spot on.
The chicken is our favourite - moist meat with a nice smoked flavour, you can order a whole or half portion. The Porchetta is also very good, deboned and cooked in a roll with a thin layer of crisp skin, so very succulent. There are also some dry aged steaks cuts to choose from, we went with the dry aged sirloin, which was cooked as we ordered and served with a lemon wedge, simple and allowing you to savor the flavour of the beef. This was charged per 100g.
The sides were all very enjoyable too. The buttered carrots were quite rustic, served whole and were extremely tasty. The asparagus cooked perfectly a bit of crunch and topped with an egg yolk to make it a little more exciting. We also had the butter lettuce and fine herbs, nice and fresh, with plenty of dill which stood out in a good way. The corn on the cobb maybe a little over, also very buttery, and butter does equal flavour.
The desserts are spectacularly rustic and the experience topped off by the pudding chômeur (poor man's pudding) - a baked sponge soaked in caramelised maple syrup topped with vanilla ice cream served in a foil tin. Demolished by our dining team in no time at all.
This was one of our favourite dining experiences this year and it will be a shame when the restaurant is no more.More

Went here as a table of 4 friends. As we had 4 we were able to have the Chef's set menu. Everything on it was to die for! Whether it was the chicken, steak or just the bread rolls everything was perfection (there is a...lot more on the tasting menu). Also, to compliment the outstanding food the service was great, our waiter was attentive, funny and engaging. The wine menu is up to par so you will not be stretched to find a nice drop. Definitely a must try in Sydney.More

We booked late so we were relegated to a high table with bar stools at an early sitting of 5:30PM. I like my feet to touch the ground. All the tables & chairs were taken mostly by large groups. We had the $90 banquet menu...as we were hungry having not eaten since breakfast. The place was busy & the waiter was helpful. The food was generally pretty good, the timing of the food delivery was a bit haphazard but on the whole all satisfying with plenty of it. The premises looked like a former garage & had a concrete floor. For a country awash with good reasonably priced wine, it rankles to have to pay $75 for a bottle at the cheap end of the list. We felt like a coffee after but there is no coffee machine. It is not like you can go next door in Chippen Lane at Chippendale to have one.More

We got the $70 banquet menu, which was a good range of dishes. The sausages were excellent, as were the deserts (mango & coconut sorbet & Pouding Chomeur). We all felt the cured trout was crying out for a squeeze of lemon juice ( LP...might consider including a cheek of lemon or lime with the dish?). What proved a disappointment was the rib eye - perfectly cooked, but strangely lacking in flavour. Our waiter was also a bit on edge and quite prickly, and was giving us a bit of attitude which was not helpful. (Why is it in more $$$ restaurants, the waiters can sometimes be bad-tempered??? I don't get that...) All up, expensive ($110 pp including drinks) and not really sure it was quite up to that level. (PS - not a big fan of the uncomfortable tiny stools either. At that price I'd like a actual chair)More

Was recommended by the fully booked restaurant around the corner. Glad we found it. Best to Uber there as parking is scarce. Food had outstanding flavours & the wait staff were more than happy to help.

It’s been a few years since I was here last ... but nothing has changed! The food is superb, the service is excellent. I love to see old fashioned service in terms of waiting staff being attentive to your needs before you realise you need...them. Having them refill my wine and ensure that I and my wife have everything we require makes for a really pleasant dining experience. They are also all so knowledgeable about the food and wine. Fully professional. The food, still homemade on the premises is out of this world; the sourdough bread is fantastic, the butter, the pate, the meats, the pickles are Excellent. The meat is seasoned and cooked to perfection... And then comes the dessert... oh my god, the Pouding Chomeur is to die for!!!! Leave space or miss out on THE Sydney dining experience. Put LP’s at the top of your list.More

My wife and I arrived 10 minutes late due to our flight being put into a holding pattern north of Sydney. The wait staff were very understanding and welcoming when we arrived. The place still had the buzz that I remembered 18 months earlier. Food...was just amazing. Everything we tasted was simply delicious and were extremely jealous of people on our table who were in a group of 5. 5+ mouths mean more dishes to try! Desserts were OK. There was one that I was told was off an evaporated milk recipe? was pretty ordinary. It looked amazing and was similar to a Tira Misu, just lacking flavour. The sponge finger was wet and bland. Other than that, I would strongly recommend this place for the avid Omnivore!More

We have dined at LP Quality Meats previously and totally enjoyed the whole experience. This time however we were highly disappointed with our meals. Our steaks were very fatty and chewy and they also came out too quickly as we hadn’t even had time to...have a sip of our wine. Hopefully we just had a one off ‘ bad ‘ experience & next time it will be more enjoyable. The staff as always were extremely friendly attentive and helpful.More
