This is a hidden gem you almost walk past, its beautiful inside. The only frustrating thing is that your view of Circ Quay is obstructed.
You cannot fault the food, its perfect every time we go. One of the more expensive indians in Sydney but you get what you pay for. I understand this is probably due to the area. You can get other amazing Indians for almost $10 less per dish

Delicious food and wonderful service. We had the preshow deal, $38 for an entree, main, coffee or dessert and glass of wine/beer. Catch is you only have the table from 5.30-7pm, but this was perfect as we were going to a show. Would definitely eat here again!!

Wow...... The weeks went by until we finally enjoyed the hospitality, the food and OMG what an awesome experience.
Anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine needs to come to this family friendly restaurant

Having had a large lunch, we didn't need an overly large dinner. We ordered the Seafood Mixed Platter from the "Sharing Room" we also had an order of naan and raita. It was just the right amount of food. We then ordered dessert. We had the badami Ras Malai which is a creamy milk dessert cakes enriched with almonds and pistachios; and the saffron rice pudding phirnee. This was so good that I even asked for the recipe but the wait staff couldn't help me. Perhaps when the manager reads this review, I will receive the recipe. Unlike other Indian rice puddings, this one seems to be pureed after the rice is fully cooked and it had less cardomon. We also had 2 mock cocktails which were refreshing.

Been a while since our last visit but The Spice Room did not fail to deliver.
Before we'd taken our jackets off, a tray of Pappadums appeared on our table with a smile as we ordered Kingfisher beers.
The menu isn't vast but enough variety to keep you interested. The breads, starters and vegetarian dish were all good but the highlights were the main dishes and in particular the Goan Fish Curry which was cooked to perfection.
The service was quick, efficient and unobtrusive. The seating is quite tight and you definitely need to book in advance.
Pricing is on the expensive side for Indian food, which you'd expect in this centrally located restaurant (with a view), but when the quality is this good its not a consideration.
N.B. Stonefish 2017 Reserve Shiraz to accompany the meal was excellent.

Wow, wow, wow the aroma of the curry and spices filled the air the moment you walked inside, the decor is awesome, service impeccable, the menu is very extensive , plenty of drinks to choose from as well. While a smaller space it doesn’t deflect from the whole atmosphere of the restaurant. Serving size was generous and the pricing quite comparable with other restaurants in the area…will definitely be on our return list

Looking for a meal before attending a production at the Opera House, we were pleased to discover this restaurant that was not one of the quayside tourist traps. While it lacked the outlook of the restaurants along the harbour edge it had a lovely vibe and an authentic atmosphere. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was flavoursome and the servings very satisfying. We loved the Spiced Coconut Seafood Treasure and really enjoyed the Butter Chicken with sides of naan and steamed rice. The restaurant filled quickly on a Friday night and patrons are advised to book. This will be our preferred pre-theatre restaurant from now on.

We had another wonderful dining exerience in this beautiful restaurant . As expected, the restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night but the highly knowledgeable staff took time to help us choose a range of gluten-free dishes to cater for the coeliac in our party. The meals were delicious and varied and very filling. We could not have had a better experience and will certainly be back.

First class food, service and value for money. The ambience was jolly, noisy, bustling and happy and the serving staff brilliant at taking orders through all the din. The location is unique right next to the ferry terminal, with trains passing practically overhead which adds an authentic Indian touch. A lovely restaurant and a fabulous meal.

We ate here for dinner and had a wonderful experience. The number of Indian people eating with us was a good indication of the food taste. They charge extra (a lot) for the naan which should have been included as the pieces were small. I still give the Spice Room a very good rating as the food taste was amazing. We had both a chicken tikka and vegetarian dish. Both were tasty and we would recommend this restaurant.

Had the seafood curry and the lamb Bhuna. Great food, good service. Very tasty dishes overall. Food came out tepid initially but they took it back and brought it back hot. I would recommend

The service was outstanding and the food was really really good !!! The staff explain all the plate and they really deserve a 6* for the service. My son as several allergy (eggs, dairy, shellfish) and they take time to find the better options menu for us. It's the better indian food I ever ate and I went to a lot of indian restaurant before.

We went to the Spice Room with high hopes based on a review which ranked this in the top ten Indian restaurants in Sydney.
Suffice to say, the appetisers were reasonable but we found the mains underwhelming. The vegetarian dishes that we ordered just didn’t hit the spot. Probably, a convenient place to hit up for a post work dinner enroute home.
However, the Tamarind Margarita was quite good!

The food wasn't inviting at all... Served in small bowls.. The quality was sub-standard.
When you go to a restaurant in CBD at Circular Quay, you have some expectations with the servings, food, quality and quantity. The restaurant FAILS in all aspects..
Would never go back again.

While we enjoyed the food in this restaurant from an extensive menu of standard Indian dishes, we did not enjoy the overall dining experience. The restaurant is small and was crowded, with tables very close together, and the place is so noisy that it is hard to make yourself heard, even on a table for two. The service was very good, but prices high for small servings. We will not return as we consider an important part of any dining experience is the ability to comfortably conduct a conversation with your dining companion.
