First dinner at Sydney, nice location at Darling harbour, the seafood is good, we ordered the Entree platt fr 2, and oysters , these were good. But the risotto is very salty, we said to the waitress, u know what is her response? Haha, she said we don’t put any salt for sure. This made us very disappointed, no one care why the risotto only eat a bite. We paid AUD 216 for this kind of service.

It was a very busy Saturday night at the restaurant with long queues for tables. We’d booked ahead and were seated just past two long tables hosting a party of 28. The food was good but the service dragged the meal down. I had the mussels but was given neither a discards dish nor a spoon. I got none of the lovely wine & cream sauce (a fork doesn’t pick up sauce) and throughout that entree I was trying to attract a waiter to request a spoon but they were so busy with the party of 28 it was a no hoper. About 1/3 of my mussels were unopened and therefore not fit to eat. I’d ordered lobster thermidor for main as an absolute treat and it was good. The waiter however forgot to ask my choice of side so I ended up with salad when I wanted chips. Even getting a waiter to bring us the bill took 30 minutes. On an expensive meal I expect much better service.

Dear Charlie, we apologise for all of the issues you experienced with us on this day. I can assure you this is not our standard service and the Team is doing its best. We are in general a really busy restaurant which fatigue might have played a role on your experience, however this is not an excuse and we have taken your comments very seriously. We do hope you give us an opportunity to turn this last experience around. Thank you for posting your feedback.

We rocked up just after 6pm and already there is a small queue in front of the restaurant on a wednesday evening. We had no reservation but were quickly seated in a couple of minutes. The restaurant is quite large and can seat lots of people. We were provided menus and table water. We started the meal sharing an entre of grilled octopus - it was cooked perfectly, not chewy and tasty. For dinner we shared kangaroo fillet cooked just how we asked for - medium. They were also happy to make some minor changes to the dish due to my friend being intolerant to gluten and dairy. Overall we enjoyed our meal here at the waterfront and will definitely return.

My husband and I have been here a few times now but this time around was by far the best. We booked for our wedding anniversary and asked for a table outside which we got. We had Marcus for our waiter who was very friendly and informative. Hubby had the oysters for entree and I had the tempura vegetables....both were fantastic! We both had the baby lobster mornay for the main which was beautiful!...and reasonably priced for not a whole fresh lobster. Fresh lobster market price is around $280 per lobster at the moment but we did not feel like we were eating frozen lobster as it was still fresh enough for us...and at $55 per lobster it was big enough for a main. We also finished off with dessert each and they included a sparkler for our anniversary which was nice of them. Both desserts were very nice. We had a lovely time and highly recommend this restaurant and we will return in the future.

Battered fish tasted burnt but semi raw inside. Asked for a bowl of chips as compensation which obliged hassle free. However chips were crispy but raw inside. So the fryer was way too hot overcooking the outside and under cooking the inside. Obviously to keep up with orders. When fish and chips hit the $18 mark you expect much better than the $7.50 fish and chips you get from the fish shop out the front of Coles. But sadly no. The funny thing was at work people were discussing how the bars in Darling Harbour just don’t care anymore. They were right. You’re meant to be showcasing Australia but you’ve gotten lazy. Fix it up, have some pride.

We were a family of 16 and were promptly seated at 8pm in a busy night. The restaurant was huge and they own 7 restaurants in the harbor . We ordered different dishes and everything was good with special mention to the fried snapper fillet which was lightly battered yet crispy outside and moist inside. All dishes came almost at the same time with a cooking period of 15-20 minutes. They have mussels done with tomato based sauce and one with white wine sauce. The later was much better. Service was friendly and efficient.

We had a 3-course seafood banquet lunch - absolutely fabulous. Fresh oysters, mussels with a chilli and tomato salsa, taramsalata, soft shell crab, calamari, fish, salad.... These people really know how to do calamari perfectly - it was tender, delicious and done just as it is in Greece (most restaurants in Australia serve up revolting greasy rubber bands or lumps). And there's no greasy, thick batter on anything here. Everything was perfect. Dessert was also delicious. The service was great, not rushed, friendly staff. You can sit inside or outside under cover with views of the water. Not cheap but for the quality and the quantity you get, the prices are reasonable and it's worth it. Congratulations to the chefs and staff. Would definitely recommend Nick's and will go back ourselves.

My annual trip to a trade show at ICC in May always involves a trip to Nicks, in 2019 we had 9 people this year was just 3 due to Melb lockdown. The oysters natural were extremely tasty and the mixed entree was visually stunning and flavoursome. We had a full lobster mornay for $58 compared to the $150 offered at a restaurant in Hobart 3 weeks ago. Was packed full of meat and yummy. Other dishes were the tassie salmon and muscles both superb. Our waitress was from Uzbekistan, can’t remember her name, she was most helpful and friendly and assisted with one guest who was gluten free and with choices of wine. Excellent night! Thank you Nicks

Terrible experience. My wife who is heavily pregnant, my 2 young kids and me are cooking right this moment from the heat inside this place. Despite informing the waiter that we are extremely hot and sweating, he refused to move us despite the other section having air con (according to him) and the the section closer to the entrance having fans. My 1 year old cried through the whole evening because of the heat and refused to eat. I did not have a thermometer on me, but it had to be at least 33 degrees where we were sitting (near the kitchen). Extremely disappointed with our service here. 3/4 of the restaurant had empty tables yet we were not moved. Instead they give us wet wipes to wipe our faces because of the heat. Food was also well below average. I strongly recommend that you avoid this place!!!

Thank you for posting your comments. As you are aware we are an open restaurant when very high temperature occurs we all can feel it. We are not hiding the fact but in the contrary advertising our beautiful and all opened venue located in the heart of Darling harbour. I believe I have explained to you that your table was located inside with air conditioning which is cooler than anywhere else but again as explained this is an opened restaurant. The alternative solution was wet towels which helps you to cool down in the event of extreme heats. At that moment I believed your wife was satisfied with the explanation and by the personal touch. Sadly I haven’t notice your 1 year old crying while I was monitoring your table through out the service to make sure you are all ok. We hope to see you again when the weather has cooled off.

Our son & his girlfriend shouted us a 3 course dinner at Nick's for Xmas ! A great thought & turned out a great night as well.Table for two looking out over Darling Harbour and the passing parade. Super attentive staff, all friendly & helpful & quick to serve. We loved the entree/starter with its different tastes & flavours and the main seafood platter was very good ! The dessert platter was also pretty special and we cleaned the plate !! Drink prices were very reasonable & the place was pretty full and for obvious reasons. Will be back for certain on another special occasion !

I have been to the cafe part of Nick's at Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Harbour on several occasions at lunchtime. It is in a very good position, overlooking the harbour and has a good and varied menu, including choices for children. The service has always been excellent and the food is served quickly, which is always an advantage when you take children there, as I did today. All the food I have eaten - BLT, omelette, vegetarian wrap and fish and chips for the grandchildren- has been extremely tasty. No complaints at all; just a warning that the seagulls can be a problem if you sit to near the front of the restaurant. Will definitely be returning in my next holiday in Sydney.

This restaurant needs a medal, the staff knew there job and service were really great, Waiter new about wines which we enjoy, and Tap Beer was really chilled and nicely presented. The choice of meals was great,I'm sure everyone would enjoy something on the meal, the platers were so well presented we never had one the next table did, and wow. We had king prawns and they were really nice. Outlook on Harbour very romantic and people walking promenade was a pleasant experience.

We had dinner at Nick's last night. We had booked a table at the front of the restaurant which was lovely with views of Darling Harbour. The night started well with drinks and we shared 2 entrees. Main course arrived and my plate was damaged in 3 different places (chipped) and there was no cutlery, the server just left the food and we had to go and chase the waitstaff for cutlery. We were not offered any salt or pepper and had to just get some of the next table. For the prices they charge this service is not acceptable. We did discuss this with the manager prior to leaving the restaurant.

We had a lovely evening at Nicks, polite staff and nice atmosphere. Trio of Dips starter was lovely, the salmon dip was amazing! All made in house (we were told) We ordered Nick’s seafood platter for 2 for Main course. Though the fish was lovely and fresh, we do feel it lacked a bit of flavour and finesse. We were slightly disappointed with the fact that the catch of the day was battered, we weren’t actually informed at all what it was. The Lobster was also served cold and had no seasoning, would have liked the option for it to be freshly grilled with garlic butter. All in all the meal was nice, but we were expecting something extra special, and we didn’t get that. We got some lovely seafood, but on a plate of battered fish and chips that looked and tasted like it could have been from any normal restaurant. Some more info from the waiter on the platter would have been appreciated and maybe we wouldn’t have chosen it.

We are glad that you loved our homemade dips. In regards to the catch of the day it is stated on the menu the option of having it grilled or fried which is also the case for the lobster having it cold or with a sauce such as garlic butter. Have been a long time patron of Nicks but this visit topped them all. From our initial greeting on arrival to the time we left the whole experience was about superior service and food quality. Throw in the concept of providing the option of a drinks package the afternoon was a huge success . Our waiter Raffael was outstanding! Nothing was too much trouble for him
