Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This unassuming simple restaurant serves fresh local seafood cooked to perfection. Best fish n chips we tried in all of Australia and that is saying much, really crunchy and yummy! Friendly staff

This was dinner at the new location. Squid looked and tasted as though it had been re-fried. Fish soup was over cooked with the fish like rubber. Snapper wasn’t cooked properly and the fish pie tasted like it had been cooked in mushroom soup. Very...disappointed as the restaurant looks like it will deliver great fish dishes… it doesn’tMore

One of my all time favourite lunch spots. Grilled fish and salad is my go to. This establishment does a simple menu exceptionally and there’s nothing else to say except bravo.

Having dined at the previous incarnation of this once fine seafood deliverer, I We ventured out expecting the same freshness. Unfortunately, while it was palatable it was not fresh as it could have been. Service was attentive probably hiding the former. Take the chips accompanying...my snapper main. Some ((50%) of the chips were hard and I suggest double or even triple deep fried. This gave me the impression of possible economising (?). The oysters were fresh and soooo small we both received a baker’s dozen without comment. The fish was slightly overdone however deemed fresh. It was pricey given what we received.More

Being old clients of the original Mohr operation up the road & out of the old butcher's shop..this new & well ordered operation actually beats little resemblance: that said -nostalgia aside (you cannot eat nostalgia, right ?)- here is a pretty good facsimile. My slightly...undercooked (yes!..bravo!) scallops en shell, had drowned in a watery mess masquerading as a sauce (sic)--so first strike >> very poor kitchen balance here. My husband's fried calamari weren't greasy its true..but whilst, alas the squid meat wasn't moist & rich....it wasn't too dry & inedible either--thank goodness! These disappointing starters were redeemed in my case with terrific Battered Flathead..my husband was cross because his order for grilled snapper was indeed taken,...but some time later, shame-faced, the waitperson returned telling him they were out of that fish...would he please choose another? This is unprofessional when not particularly busy either, & shows a very poor relationship with front of house & the kitchen . My husband liked the monkfish substitute he made under duress well enough to happily eat it..but no paying guest should ever be made to do this . The kitchen later sent out a pair of very well executed prawn toasts by way of saying sorry..& that was a nice touch! >> oh & the toasts were moist & irresistible! But its hardly the point. We loved we could BYO & I'd return someday soon to allow them a second shot at impressing us. One to watch.More

I have just had lunch here for the first time in a while. This time it is in their new location, just down Devonshire St from the old one. This place is much nicer. Larger & more comfortable. I only had fish & chips but...it was every bit as good as I remember. The menu looks much the same as before but there are a few lunch specials. I will be back.More

The Mohr fish and chips takeaway is a gem, and moving to new premises in early 2022 nearby where we will make it a must. At the moment it is rather unprepossessing, but that hides marvellous menu. What other fish and chips shop has scallops...on the shell with herb butter sauce or lightly fried soft shelled crab with a papaya salad, or monk fish with an avocado salsa. All for much the same price as any other fish and chip shop. We are certainly looking forward to the move so there are more than 10 places on high chairs for diners.More

There is one lady that totally ruins this experience! Stephanie the owner is lovely but as the owner she is removed from the restaurant which is a shame as she is great. However with a child she leaves the front office to an incompetent staff...member. Whoever worked the floor on the 15th December is a kitchen regular and does not deserve to be mingling with clients. Rude not smiling and terribly inflexible I will not return until she is replaced away from the public eye. Dreadful experience and I’ve been to Mohr fish for years. Please displace this lady. She ruined our night and I bought a new person for the first time who was aghast by her unwelcomeness. Avoid Mohr fish until Stephanie fixes up her staff.More

Mohr is a hidden gem for seafood in Sydney. The restaurant is very close to Central station and the hub of Crown Street with a menu that is modest but exquisite. The seafood is very fresh and cooked to perfection with generous portions. You can...take away or dine in. The dining space is small and casual - there are only about 4 tables and a bar to eat at. However, dining in is very pleasant and the service is lovely. We had a perfect night at Mohr. Many thanks to the staffMore

Came here for dinner with my friends. The food here is great. Ordered salmon for myself and it’s perfectly done. The fried squid is very nice as well. Limit tables, i believe most people order takeaway here. Very friendly service as well.

Ate lunch here recently with three friends and we all very much enjoyed it. The service was good, the food fresh and tasty - I had the fish pie and thought it was excellent - and the prices very reasonable. It's not a place you...go for the decor though, and that's fine by me, it is what it is and the simple style no doubt keeps the prices down. It is very small, so if you want to ensure you get a table on the weekend at peak times you do have to book. We will be back for sure.More
