This is a great spot to view the Opera house and Harbour Bridge whilst having a very good coffee and cake and/or alcoholic beverage and/or light meal. The food is generally very good and there is a fairly good buzz. Highly recommended at least once for anyone visiting Sydney

Some museum cafes are just a necessary add-on to the main exhibits without offering much to make you want to come back. This place is the complete opposite! We were delighted with our experience at the MCA Cafe with fabulous views over Circular Quay. Although a busy public holiday, the staff had the ordering, serving & cleaning up to a... More

The cafe is on the 4th floor with commanding views of the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and Circular Quay. The menu is limited but has healthy choices and the coffee is better than good!

This museum cafe has a great vantage point for people watching. It's is an unexpected find! Great for a group as well, as there were large tables and the place was not too busy. Menu selection was fine and food was tasty. Water glasses were filthy, and when we commented we were told that there was a problem with the... More

Views are fantastic, food a little pricey but worth it - quality ingredients, innovative combinations, prompt service, yummy and relaxing. It's a little difficult to choose from the menu because it is all super appealing.

Great views from the rooftop café. Food is a little on the Nouvelle Cuisine line and some offerings are quite pricey. Location is great though and a superb view of cruise ships when they are in the harbour.

Wish I'd have known about this rooftop cafe at the MCA sooner. Beautiful views, great service, funky DJ, great location, yummy food (lots of tasty Japanese inspired dishes - I had the super Japanese Salad and it was filling) great coffee and great prices.

A casual and contemporary lunch spot with incredible views of Cirqular Quay, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and often a resident cruise ship. We could dine alfresco but choose the inside area and enjoyed the delicious salads both under $20 each. A great place to take my Qld friend who hadn't been to Sydney in years.

Choice between indoor and outdoor seating with some priceless views on the bridge and the Opera House. The Japanese bowl was excellent value for money. Decent selection of drinks.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
