We went on Sunday morning in a group of 10. We arrived just after 11 and were seated immediately, however there were queues for tables by the time we left at 12:30. The food came too fast at first, and then too slowly as the restaurant got busy. We were seated in a corner, and trolleys seemed to take a... More

We have frequented this restaurant for past few years and it has never disappointed us. The dim sum is superb - the best in Sydney by our reckoning - with several dishes like the pigs blood that not frequently available elsewhere. The century egg porridge, bean curd dessert and lotus paste bun are must try as are the more standard... More

Harsh words I know and in other circumstances I would never write such an aggressive review. I went for Yum Cha with my family and I have been numerous times Here.Admittedly each time it kept feeling a little worse but we put it down to them being busy. Don't be fooled , there food quality has plummeted , service ..... More

Went here with a business colleague and boasted how good it was back in the 90's... Unfortunately standards have dropped. The venue is drab and the food was mediocre. We even left a few dishes as they were inedible. Shame to see that China Town has lost all it's good yum cha restaurants. To top it off we had very... More

There are 3 people now to have fallen ill from the one table. 23/12/16. Lunch. Table of 6. 3 of us ate the pork belly with black bean which tasted quite nice. 3 did not eat any as there was not enough to go round. All other dishes were tried by all 6. I was one of the 3 that... More

My husband and a few work colleagues went here for lunch on 23 December. He did complain that night that he was very full and his stomach felt tight and said he wouldn't do yum Cha again. Late Saturday evening he started to feel unwell and then till about 3am in the morning he was in the bathroom both vomitting... More

It's Christmas and we plan to come here. Just got in after 11 and got foods quick. They are so busy asked us for 1 hour round but that's plenty of time. Great foods and service.

Marigold had been operating successfully as one of the bigger chinese restaurant for over 30 years in Chinatown while many had come and gone. There are not many that can offer both "yum char" dimsim for lunch as well as venue for banquets and functions, including birthday parties, weddings, charity functions and professional meetings. The secret of long term success... More

This place has been open for decades & it's easy to see why. Delicious, fresh yum cha, speedy efficient service. It's always bustling as a good yum cha should be. When it comes to yum cha, you'll never go wrong with Marigold.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighbourhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theatre, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
