We had an early Saturday night dinner but the place was soon full. We sat facing the open kitchen and it was entertaining watching the food prepared. A good point was that there was little waiting time once the dish was finished. I saw our salmon dish being handed up to the bench only to have it delivered immediately to the table.
We had salmon with lemon risotto at $34.00 and the Fettuccine al ragu $26.00 as our mains. The salmon was cooked as ordered and one could taste the individual grains of rice in the risotto. The fettuccine came with a rich, tasty sauce and lamb pieces were tender. With a glass of house red and white, it was an excellent meal.
On the pizza front, these are Italian pizzas and so are less generous with the toppings than their American counterparts. They must be tasty as a number of clients shared them as their first course and some times their main with another dish.
We would certainly go back

Me and friend went to have lunch at Macchiato and was blown away with their food. Even more amazing are the staff members. Our server was Rakan and he was so polite and friendly. When I requested if it was possible to prepare our food with halal preparation, he assured me that they would do just that. So understanding and an excellent server. And their food is super delicious. Recommend them 100%!!

I love this place! Wood-fired pizzas are delicious (mine was the vegetarian Ortolana), but we shared several others also. So good, we became regulars during our short stay in Sydney and returned several times for their breakfast menu. Can highly recommend the mushrooms/ spinach toast and the breakfast panino. Also love their customer service, on only our third attendance the waiters knew our coffee order by heart.

This has been one of our favourite local restaurants for years, and in the current iso climate, we have been trying to support our local small businesses. One of the reasons we have loved Macchiato's so much was its amazing made in-house gf pizza bases. We have had them a few times since the social isolation restrictions, and I feel that many of the staff know us. I called last week to order and they called back 15 min later to tell me that they were out of gf bases. I was disappointed but moved on. I ordered again tonight and was told to call back when the chef was there. I did so, and was told they had gf bases. I ordered, picked it up and got home...this pizza looks nothing like any pizza I have ever gotten from this usually amazing restaurant. it was burnt on the crust edges and bottom and raw in the middle. When I called to ask I was offered pasta...I know things are tough right now, so happy to cut them a break on the frozen gf base, but if they had told me I wouldn't have ordered, $30 for a plate of s**t. The lack of concern by staff makes me think I may not come back even when the restrictions are lifted. So sad to lose a favourite place :(

I don’t know what the food tastes like yet as we have sat at the table still waiting for our drinks after 45 minutes wait. That after having to ask our waiter twice and going up to the bar to request. We have now sat at the table for an hour and no sign of even a garlic bread starter. They’ve just finally brought the wrong drinks! We have had to leave as the kids are starving. They don’t have enough servers whilst they still pack the restaurant out with people queuing outside

Ordered food on 17 March to be delivered to hotel. Waited almost two hours. Rang Macchiatos to advise food not delivered. Told by manager “what do you want me to do”. Well, I thought the answer was fairly obvious- deliver the food that was paid for. It appears that when ordering by a food delivery service (in this case, deliveroo) the restaurant absolves itself of any responsibility for the delivery of the food paid for. It seems that based on the reviews the food is pretty good. My advice- don’t order delivery as Macchiatos clearly doesn’t care if the food is delivered.

This place was amazing prior to Covid however now is less than it was - $30 for a plate of pasta with a couple of prawns, lots of empty vongole shells. The tiramisu and ricotta cake not fresh. Add one vegetarian pizza, two glasses of house red and a long black and you end up with a bill of $129. I think a miscalculation. I was in a state of shock. Happy to write off the event and never return. A shame for a once great venue.

The waiter missed my order so had to wait later for my food. I asked for no mushrooms and I still got them on the pulled beef pizza (hardly any beef) By then my party was half way through their meals so I didn't complain, just picked them off. I basically ate a pizza base as there was next to none tomato base making the pizza dry. The place looks nice, food mediocre. I feel like I've wasted 30 dollars on a pizza base and the wait staff just brushed off the whole incident as if it didn't happen.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. We ate there the 5 days we stayed in Sydney for breakfast and Dinner.. We were greeted every morning by Samma (sorry if spelt incorrectly), she always had a welcoming smile and cheery disposition. Good variety of vegetarian, seafood and meat dishes, and all were exceptional!! Cappuccino and apple crumble were fantastic. The staff work so well together and are extremely friendly. We would highly recommend anyone to visit. We would definitely return if ever in Sydney again (maybe another milestone birthday trip!)

We were staying in Sydney for 2 nights and were looking for a place to eat near our hotel. We were warmly welcomed, place was very busy but our waiter was pleasant, thought about bringing kids entertainment bag and juice straight away. Our pizzas came out at same time and within 10-15 minutes the most which was pretty quick. They were delicious and made perfectly.
Place is spacious and clean.

I picked up a pasta takeaway and it was delicious and they gave me a significant discount for takeaway. So that was a bonus. It was very busy at 5.30 pm on a week night and the smells were intoxicating. The Woodfire pizzas that I could see in the table looked fabulous and the range of desserts on the menu was exciting.
I will definitely return for a sit down meal next time that I am In Sydney.

During a recent trip to Sydney we tried this restaurant with friends on two occasions. We had great pizzas, which is its forte in our opinion. Pastas and other meals left a bit to be desired. My lasagne had puréed mince. On our second visit my wife had a vongole that she was unable to eat. It had prawns as well as the usual clams, very little olive oil and it was topped with Parmesan cheese, a no no with this dish. To their credit they did not charge for this dish after we raised our concern. As I said, pizzas are excellent. They should stick to them.

Half decent wood fired pizza didn’t make up for a few issues with the place:
1. Service took too long (despite for all intensive purposes being very quiet at the time) - so long my father got up to cross the restaurant and ask a bored looking waiter if we could order. The response was ‘that’s not my job, the old man over there takes the orders’ (gesturing to the other side of the restaurant) before returning to arranging glasses with a bored look. Probably the more correct response would have been to offer to help out, instead we had to the walk the restaurant to find the ‘old man’ who takes the orders. Oh yeah, the place is table service btw.
2. Drinks are overpriced. It’s the Sydney CBD so I get it, beer is always going to be expensive, but $14 -16 for a bottle of beer I can pull out of the fridge at Dan’s for $3 every day of the week is a joke. At least give it to me in a chilled glass or pour it from a tap.
The pizza is decent, but not mind blowing and isn’t enough to carry the subpar service

Always visit macchiato when visiting Sydney from central west NSW
Their wood fired pizza is to die for. We especially love the garlic cheese pizza.
Lovely service and food despite being super busy always.
Even if you haven’t booked they will
Find you a table
Thank you to the staff of macchiato

Worst food ever. Ordered the Valentine’s Day special, on the menu it said that oysters come with Tabasco sauce and lime but the restaurant didn’t even have Tabasco sauce. The pizza was soggy and I think they used pasta bought from Coles (my mum cooks better pasta). There were little stones and pieces of shell in the oysters. DONT GO!
