Been here three or four times and have loved it every time. The fried snapper is a favourite! Sauces with the dishes I've tried always have complex flavours and make the meal. Staff are very attentive and professional. Sat at the bar and the communal tables and both are really fun ways to have your dinner. The black rice and... More

Visited for Valentine's Day and we ordered a banquet. Despite the restaurant being extremely busy the service and staff were great. I ordered the Ping Pong cocktail which was incredible-definitely worth a try. The food was excellent, especially the caremalised pork hock. We were so full by the end. Overall, the night was lovely.

The food was all excellent. The betel leaf with spanner crab was delicate but tasty. The salt & pepper silken tofu was lovely, but perhaps the accompanying sauce could have been less sweet. The whole crispy snapper was amazing, great flavours and textures. And the yellow curry with pumpkin cauliflower and corn was delicious, so rich and moreish. A Marlborough... More

I had my birthday dinner here and booked a table for 8 people and 2 more would come for drinks later on.Place was pretty busy for a Thursday night and our booking was for 7.30pm. We decided not to have the banquet because everyone had different dietary requirements but ended up more than satisfied by choosing dishes to share amongst... More

If there's only once place to go for Thai food this is definitely not the place. I've been wanting to check this place out as far back as I can remember and it was such a let down. Yes, it's warm and spacious yet still intimate however the food isn't worth the price you pay. Had the eggnet, mamassan lamb,... More

Good service, attentive staff, good food, nice atmosphere. I just loved everything so much. My friend and I were so amazed. I especially loved filled egg net. We ordered yellow curry and we told staff we like it very mild then they give us extra coconut milk. We ordered 3 dishes and one dessert to share and one drink each... More

Really enjoyed Longrain. The Staff were on to off it all, helpful, friendly and efficient. The food was fresh and tasty and was a step up in quality from the average. The whole establishment was buzzing and it was fun the eat there. Would definitely go again.

Thought expensive, this is a yummy place to visit for special occasions/celebrations. Bills can be split. Clean restaurant with helpful, friendly staff.

The food overall was very good. The issue is that the tables are too large and that they are managed as community tables negatively impacting on dinner conversations when groups are too close to each other. Also as there seems to be no noise cancelling material the place when full like when we went becomes very loud making the restaurant... More

We came as a large group for end of year Xmas celebration. As we came in in small groups it was difficult to find anyone to seat us or later take drinks orders. Finally were shown to 3 tables when we had prebooked a communal table. Reluctantly they moved us to the right table where we sat and sat and... More

Longrain Sydney is located at 85 Commonwealth St in Surry Hills.

Inspired by the communal eating philosophy of the Asian table, our menu is made up of dishes created for sharing. Longrain's menu has evolved from Martin Boetz's original Longrain vision, bringing South East Asian influences to carefully sourced ingredients with fresh, zingy flavours. His vibrant menu is carefully balanced with wines and cocktails chosen by restaurateur Sam Christie. Our long, shared tables encourage the spirit of eating together, so you can try each dish as part of a full tasting experience, just as it was intended (limited reservations available).

Book one of our individual tables for parties between 6 - 10 people; or Private Dining Room for 12-18 guests.
