Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Awful Guinness and most I’ve paid in Sydney. 15.66 for a Guinness that wasn’t poured correctly and tasted of dishwater soap. Took it back. Won’t be returning.

Good range of beers on tap, even have two english ales on cask. Also throw some great tap takeovers from time to time. Worth checking out!

What an interesting place From outside it looks like a place that hasn't been touched for a while. Chairs and tables inside don't feel too solid either. It is a sports bar. But don't let that fool you there are surprises when you enter. There...are levels and each is different. Thai food on one level (nothing fancy but tasty) but you need to go higher till you get to the top level not huge. Sit back have a beer (a nice variety)and relax. Open till small hours.More

Downstairs is a bar / bookies; first floor is a cafe type place; second floor is a pool table and some worn out sofas; top floor is a rooftop. It's a bit of an odd place but also sorta interesting.

It certainly isnt much to look at and if you didn't know what you were looking for you may never go in. But, follow the rickety stairs to roof and you will be delighted that you did. The roof is only a pretty small area...but they always have a good selection of craft beers. If you are in the Sydney CBD and after a good craft beer you will always find some here. The Thai diner on the second floor is also good, serving simple Bangkok style street food that is delicious.More

I mostly go for the Wednesday night quiz. The quiz is excellent but the facilities are bad. Chairs that are literally falling apart, and not enough of them. Smelly toilets that need a refurb, and often not working. The rooftop bar is good. The Thai...bistro is mostly good, but stick to the Thai food.More

Wonderful rooftop bar which is in a great location - nice and close to public transport and in the heart of the city. Staff are really cool, and of a night, the rooftop is pumping. Also a great place for a relaxed summer afternoon. Drinks...are reasonably priced too, so all in all, it’s a great choice!More

The jar on the bar at this rooftop read something along the lines of "lift fund". I was happy to chuck a buck or two in there, after we climbed the four or so levels to get to the roof. Nice and sunny in the...afternoon, great atmosphere (a mixture of locals and wanderers). Some of the other levels looked liked they would "kick off" after dark too, but alas, we were moving on.More

Excellent food served in an interesting building. Service very good. Prices cheap including the sky bar. Only drawback was the loud music blaring (would have given 5 stars apart from that). Difficult access for mobility restricted.

Sweeney's is a bit of a standard bar in the city, with its very windy stairs and small rooftop area. I really love this rooftop, but the bar itself is okay. I find the decor very outdated and dusty, but at the same time it...is part of the charm of the place. Service is friendly, but the cash only restriction when buying food is a real bummer. Cocktails here are usually tasty, and often they are for $10, but it sort of depends on the day in regards to the quality. The thai food served in the bar is a bit confusing, yes, but Sweeney's is still a bit of a mid-week go to for me.More

Some people might call this place daggy or past its best years. However, I think quirky is the most appropriate descriptor. Make your way up the numerous sets of stairs and grab a table in the roof top beer garden. It’s a quiet (quirky) oasis...in the heart of the CBD. However, it’s the Thai restaurant located in the pub that is the standout. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING fresh food made for quality ingredients with large portions. My high score is only for the Thai restaurant.More

Love the rooftop bar! Great place to chill and have a few drinks, and the $10 cocktails are fantastic! Location is also great, right near Central Station, so it’s easy to get there.

Popped in for a quick beer on the way home with my wife. Bar staff were obnoxious and rude. All 3 had a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp, it was like they were doing guests a massive favour serving them. The pub, especially...the toilets were filthy. Asked if the rooftop was open, reply was no (straight back face in phone). Avoid.More

It may have been a charming old world tavern before but is now so out of place in the cbd. Depressingly run down, old dirty and shabby with a 3 level tight layout.
