Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Here for the second time yes food is great just noticed though this is an 8 seat bar resturant first time only 5 customers tonight an extra seat squeezed in, ok not an issue except, each pairing drink is now divided by 9 not 8...or indeed 5 as in my first trip. I was at the end of the bar and each pour I was the dregs. Listen up staff you can’t do hand pours out of one bottle of wine and make them even, some of my drinks were 50 mls or less. Wise up if you jam in extra customers please do so but don’t give them my drinks.More

Fresh sashimi salmon, smoked for a couple of minutes, melts in your mouth. Watching Raita & Moma prepare it was magical theatre. Delicious soup served from a teapot

Not enough superlatives to praise Raita Noda; only a small restaurant of 8 seats and best enjoyed as a couple than as a group - difficult to talk to others as you are focussed on a master chef delivering the most amazing quality and fresh...food and at the same time discussing the food with you. Having said that, you finish up making new friends as you also tend to chat to your neighbours who are similarly passionate foodies. It's probably best that he only has 7 or 8 seats as such quality is difficult to source in Australia with our best seafood heading off overseas - fortunately, he offers the group an option of a wagyu dish that would normally only be found in the best Japanese restaurants. Wagyu and marbling that I have never enjoyed before - now I know why people rave about it so much. Every course is special but even the soft shell crab taco was like nothing I've had before. So rare to have such quality anywhere in the world prepared by such a master. In Australian terms, some say it is expensive but an Omakase experience like this in Japan or New York would be many times the cost.More

Truly amazing how Mr Raita and his son Momo can create such amazing food in such a confined space. Ten seat restaurant and hence you get a first row seat with the chefs. Patagonian toothfish was OTT so good. Highly recommended.

This is just a special, special place. It’s going to have to be the Big Night Out at $150 a head and at least $90 for the wine... but , trust me, you won’t really regret doing it and you’ll look forward to the next...time. I’d go anytime anybody asked. And there isn’t many places around here about which I’d say that. Just... epically good.More

Recent extravaganza at Raita Noda, sitting across from chef and his assistant immersing oneself in the theatre of the kitchen. Like being taken back to Tokyo where places like this abound! Three hours of being fed, with a constant explosion of flavours in the mouth.matching...wines and sakes complement the food. This is a must experience for the lover of Japanese food!More

This place is heaven. I took my boyfriend here last night as a birthday surprise. The food was exquisite. I cannot fault it. This meal changed my life! We've eaten a fair bit of sashimi around Sydney as my boyfriend loves it - before last...night I would've said I could take it or leave it, and really only ate it because I know it's good for me and I appreciate the artistry - this is no longer the case! I loved every mouthful!!! 100x better, fresher, and more melt-in-the-mouth and flavourful than any other I've tried. We chose the drinks pairing option and every drink was also delicious and perfectly paired with each dish. This was a real experience. Watching it all was so fun and the two chefs were also excellent hosts. Service was impeccable. I told them it was his birthday surprise when I made the booking 4 months ago and his dessert arrived decorated with 'Happy Birthday Steve' and a sparkler, and they remembered to present the bill to me at the end. Very impressive. I have a brain full of happy memories and a lingering feeling of deep satisfaction and sensuous joy! This is honestly a bargain considering the restaurant one seats 8 people! Which of course adds to the feeling that you're somewhere very special indeed. No photos I'm afraid - we were fully immersed in enjoying ourselves and didn't even think about it! How often can you say that.More

A very special restaurant, with the best produce, prepared in front of you by a master chef, who involves you and talks to you as he prepares and cooks. It's probably best that he only has 7 or 8 seats as such quality is difficult...to source in Australia with our best seafood heading off overseas but best experienced as a couple rather than as a group. While some people go as groups for the experience, it is quite difficult to converse as a group with the seats all on the same side of the counter, i.e no-one faces each other. For best enjoyment, just go as a couple and savour every moment, rare to have such quality anywhere in the world prepared by such a master. In Australian terms, some say it is expensive but an Omakase experience like this in Japan or New York would be many times the cost.More

The care and talent of Chef Raita Noda is mesmerising to witness. I'm humbled to be served by him and the staff. The seating is intimate along the bar of 8 people. I love every min of it. It's degustation hence if you couldn't sit...through a long seating. it's not a place for you. Otherwise, everything's EXQUISITE. Thank you.More

For those who love to eat at an exclusive place, I would definitely recommend this place!!! Raita Noda only seats 8 people are are only open at night time from 7 onwards, booking is necessary. This place only does omakase, so if you love surprises...definitely come here as you won’t know what you are getting till the night. The chef prepares all the food in front of you, then explains each dish to you. All the food here is fresh and oh so tasty.More

Last Friday night, a group of us (8 in total) booked out Raita Noda Chef's Kitchen in Surry Hills. This is a very special restaurant which is very much in the spirit of the intimate omakase restaurants in Japan, the restaurant is basically a room...divided in two by a bar, on one side the kitchen, and shelves and fridges filled with rare wines, sakes and spirits and on the other 8 comfortable bar stools for diners. In the kitchen is master chef Raita Noda & his son Momotaro Noda. After asking about allergies the chef chooses what the diners eat, which is basically made from the best ingredients of the day. This last visit was my third visit to Raita Noda Chef's Kitchen and each time I have had variations on what I ate with only some dishes making regular appearances. What flows over the course of 3.5 - 4 hours is not only delicious food and accompanying wines, sake, beers all matched to the various dishes but fabulous showmanship as every last morsel of food is prepared in front of the diners. It is quite captivating to watch a master chef at work! There is a choice of just eating the degustation, or food and your preferred beverage (one of our diners stayed with beer for example), or what I would recommend taste matched wines/sake for each of the ten courses. The latter option will set you back a total for $300 per person (inc food/drink). Only addition to this would be any of the array of after dinner spirits you may choose to have. There is an absolutely amazing range of whiskey's: vintage Japanese, to top shelf boutique Australian and rare French whiskey's. It is hard to stop at one. Last Friday just as on the previous two occasions I walked out of there on an incredible food high. This is definitely a must visit restaurant in Sydney. With only a maximum of 8 dinners a night, it is strictly by booking only and be prepared to wait for seating, or be flexible with your booking dates, especially if there are 8 of you.. Making a booking a month ahead is normal. They except credit cards, including Amex and will happily split bills and except individual credit cards from each diner if you choose to pay this way.More

Very authentic Japanese style of setup, it only has a maximum seating for 10 people facing the kitchen in a bar style set up. The creativity, cleanliness and combination of well matched flavours, colours, textures of the food presented was just a show worth watching....There was one of our friends who was vegetarian and they were only advised on the night and they made very complex and beautiful dishes impromptu for her. Highly recommend this place as an experience with all details in food preparation taken care of. The only very minor negative is that we were a party of 10 and the barstools are big and bulky and every time one person needed to get out five people had to move, however aside from this it was faultless And the price was very reasonable for having had matching wines, tea, a 10 course degustation, I would expect to pay $500 a head for something so unique but it was half that. Very impressed.More
