Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent location, great place for brunch/lunch before our show at Theatre Royal. We were most impressed with the very fresh yum cha food. We enjoyed every rush ordered.

We had the best yum-cha here since Maxims City Hall in Hong Kong. The highlight was the old-school yum-cha metal trolleys. It’s a simple system. Trolleys piled high with steaming bamboo baskets and plates of spring rolls, noodles, pork buns, prawn toast, pork belly and...other dishes are constantly wheeled around the restaurant. You just point to whatever takes your fancy (and sometimes it’s pot-luck because it can be difficult to know for sure what each one is), then they put a red inky stamp on the card on your table and it all gets tallied up in the end. Most of the dishes were around $10/$11 each. Best of all were the steamed dim sum, with lots of different prawn and seafood variations. The novelty dishes also caught our eye - taro puff pastry swans and little, pink, Babe-like jelly pigs. We didn’t try these but they were fun to see. Even though we were out of the central area and against a wall, we were not overlooked and the trolleys came around regularly, with fresh, hot food. The restaurant is not obvious from the street. It is hidden inside the Piccadilly Tower mall on Castlereagh St. This would be a great place for a large group but you might need to book ahead. Mid-week, on a Tuesday and it was packed, with tables being re-filled as soon as they emptied. It was very popular.More

While visiting Sydney, a friend took us to the Palace for lunch. It is located upstairs in a mall (in Piccadilly Tower) on Castlereagh St. Unless you are a local or read about the restaurant on line or a book, you'd never know it existed....The restaurant was full at lunch with a mix of Chinese and Caucasian guests. As is usual in a dim sum restaurant, the staff comes around with a variety of choices. Without describing one or the other, I can honestly say this was some of the best dim sum my wife and I have had in a long time. It rivals any of the places we have visited in San Francisco or elsewhere in the U.S.More

When we arrived we were received number 53 with the current number being 29 (35 minute wait). Well it was worth the wait. We made our way in to a hive of activity - trollies of piping hot, delicious dim sim/spring rolls/prawn toast/bbq pork/steam pork...buns/noodles/calamari were all consumed with delight. Was it down with Chinese tea and made for a great meal. Closed out with egg tarts/mango salad and little piggies says we will be back.More

The yum cha is ok though it is delivered by sour-faced people. Honestly, you are better off spending a bit more and going to a more upmarket venue where your booking will be honored and you are not treated like cattle lining up for a...rushed refuel.More

Quality of food is great, but variety is lacking. The same small variety of food is offered continuously - disappointed. Where is the sticky rice, black bean pork ribs, glutinous pork balls???

Not many towns have a chinese and not as good as this. Good menu and friendly service. We did not wait for long until our food arrived and good size serves. The decor is modern chinese and relaxed atmosphere.

This was a yum cha experience. The food was loverly, but we were seated near the ramp to the outside area. The issue was that the servers bypassed this corner, having a set route. This meant that we were left out of the loop. Even...asking staff for attention did not help. My advice. Do not take tables near the ramp. Ask to sit elsewhere.More

The yum cha at this Sydney CBD restaurant is excellent and really good quality. In particular we thought that the cheong fun were outstanding with super fine smooth rice skins. The trolley wait staff were very attentive and seemed to be really focussed on selling!...This is high end yum cha and a bit on the expensive side - probably because of the central CBD location.More

Don’t bother going if you’re by yourself. You’ll be largely ignored. Managed to get one yum Cha dish in 30 minutes! The women with the trolleys focused on the large tables. I certainly won’t be going back.

Always nice to have Aussie special of San chow bow or Rainbow beef Sadly what wasn’t as nice this time was a group of Aussie business men spending up big at a table who were loud and knew how to swear louder than most men...who have hit their hand with a hammer! It’s not a buffet as such. It’s yum cha. More like the buffet comes to you with robing waiters delivering food you can choose to your table.
