Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Used to be good and still not bad, but the variety is not there in comparison. Still one of the better places to eat in the shopping complex. Service is good and of course the food is fresh, just need to introduce a greater variety...to the menu.More

I've been here a number of times over the years and never been disappointed. On this occasion we went for lunch. The restaurant was still quite busy at 2pm which is alwaus a good sign. Despite this we were seated immediately. Staff were friendly and...obliging. The food was delicious and served quickly. A step up from the food court outside.More

It's probably the most inefficient workplace I've ever seen. The restaurant is full of staff members, they seem busy at doing stuff but at the same time nothing is done, customers are left ignored, tables not cleaned. And they all seem to be looking down...all the time. This does not only happen in Broadway store but in Rhodes too. I wonder why?More

The portion sizes are so small. Particulalry $4.80 plates. The prices keep rising and the serving sizes get smaller. Although when they had the $3 special I went everyday.

We had dinner here before going to see a movie, we were shown to our seats at the sushi train and that was it, no one approached us after that. The food was good but the serving sizes were small, we weren't asked if we...wanted a drink, when we finally got the attention of one of the 3 girls giggling and laughing amongst themselves they asked a male waiter to help us. It's disappointing when you go to a restaurant in Australia and the staff don't understand what you are asking for because they don't speak English.More

After some confusion over my order the waitress was not impressed that I dare ask for what i actually ordered over what they gave me. I mean off course I would love to wait even longer and have the risk of my food getting spat...on. Finally my food came. It was an average bowl of rice, spring rolls, sashimi and eel - noodles were missing (I'm sure because of the complaint) 2 days later I'm still sick from stomach pains and fever/body aches. I'm sure its from eating here. The food had a off smell to it but I just let it slip. It's not as good as it used to be and service was terrible. Well the male waiters were nice just the female waitress who seemed very irritated by us. Disappointed!!More

The sushi on the conveyor is plentiful, but compared with "Sushi Train", the variety is below average. To be fair, they serve hot grill meals, which "Sushi Train" does not. So Sushi is only part of Tömödachi's menu; sushi is not their forté. Would return,...but only if I'm in the area again, or to try their grills. Very eye-catching interior design.More

It was so exciting when Tomodachi first opened here at Broadway, well over 10 years ago. I was a VERY regular diner, and got to know the owners quite well. But over the years, it's dropped off pretty badly. The main disappointment now is the...serving size of many of the dishes. Compared to other sushi restaurants, the plate costs and size of servings are pretty poor. Tiny pieces of sushi, such as a basic rice with thin slices of salmon will set you back over $4 for 2 pieces. And I feel for the staff. Many of them are worked to the bone, as they're normally quite understaffed. They're mainly Korean students - most with obviously no previous restaurant experience. And there seems to be no Maitre'd or anyone actually in CHARGE, so it's quite painful to watch the messy service. At one stage, there was a queue of at least 10 people waiting to be seated, and close to 20 spare seats at the "train" seating area - but no one free to get these people organised. Kind of sad... :-( They really need someone to monitor everything, ensure proper service standards, and also to revise the serving sizes. There's actually nothing wrong with the food as such - quite delicious. But pretty ordinary, and overpriced for what you get.More

I love this place. The service is always friendly. If you love sushi trains then you'll love this place. Freshly made and a good variety means that you'll always have something good to eat. I prefer to sit down in the restaurant itself and try...the a la carte menu as it's a little more relaxed (and not so up high). You can't go wrong with many of the meals but my favourite is still the Bento Box. You choose a main (I rate the Teriyaki Chicken or Salmon) and you get a salad, some fruit, some deep fried rolls, dumplings, small sushi and some sashimi ... along with a bowl of Miso. Such great value and the perfect solution to the "I don't know what to eat" dilemma. Add a Japanese beer and you've got a great start to your night at the movies. The Cinema is around the corner on the same floor ... and with a belly full of Japanese goodness ... you're less likely to weaken on the snack food. (tho the Salted Caramel Choc Top Ice cream was really 'to die for' )More

This place used to be great & cheap. It is now the opposite, the selection is not huge anymore, the flavours are bland and it is overpriced. very small sushi pieces and when you look at the plate price, it's expensive. so twice i've been...in the last 5 weeks and each time had only 3 - 4 plates max and it was about $16, was never offered tea or drinks. the softshell crab that was inside a roll was firstly, very minimal, but what crab that was inside was obviously yesterdays as it was cold and hard and chewy. needless to say, i won't be backMore

Have been going to Tomodachi for years and have always had good service and good food. The teriyaki barramundi is really yummy, and not something you find at all Japanese. Staff are always friendly and will make a sincere effort to accommodate you and look...after you. They used to do a movie ticket lunch deal that was really good value. Thanks for many years of good service.More
