A delightful Japanese restaurant, the service was great and food all came quickly. A lot of mayo was involved (which the menu did warn of - you can request none!) so worth bearing in mind.

Very small "cafe size/style" restaurant, with a long high chair shared seating table & few single tables, put so close together that you can touch each other. Very similar to those found in Japan The staff were very nice. We ordered the half-half menu -...half ramen & half rice bowl. Food is quite nice. Ordered individual type if you want full size portions.More
We went in right before closing and they treat as very well. There people there were nice and the food was delicious. Highly recommend.
We ordered takeaway a few times from Kura since we are staying nearby. The portions were huge and food was alright. The first few times were better. The last order came with Karaage that was alightly burnt. Price is reasonable. You get some discount if...you pay with cash.More
This used to be my go to Japanese in the city. Food is poor quality and they won’t adjust menu items. They wouldn’t even make my son a simple katsu roll. Don’t waste your time or money…
Great little place outside Paddy’s markets. We had a portion of the prawn gyoza, bao buns, okinomyaki and takoyaki. It was delicious food with fast and friendly service. Would definitely recommend.
My hubby never go to this small dining restaurant at the corner haymarket near across market city. This Japanese restaurant provide wide of japanese classic from sushi, sashimi, bento and udon with affordable price. My hubby ask me what is the best to oder in...this place. I told him normally, i love their namban and i have been there for long time so I was not sure that they will be same taste after 8 years later. He decided to order his bento : Bento chicken namban with choice either agedashi tofu or salmon sashimi with Miso soup plus takoyaki and gyoza. My hubby loved sauce of chicken namban and they have fresh sashimi however, the portion is small for him so,He mentioned to staff that He thinks the bento will be small and not enoygh for him so staff giving another choice about half noodle and half donburi. I told to staff then i will ordered vegetable udon. The udon is combined tofu and fried tofu plus seaweed. The portion is good enough but i feel the soup a bit sweet so i put chilli flake on top of my noodle and taste better than before. The other half my hubby chose donburi chicken karaage with ontama and mayonaise.he mixed ontama with rice and eat with karaage. He said the taste is not bad but if they can make more crispy will be better. Overall, the place is too small and waiting period is not too long. However, sitting place is not comfortable for both of us. Food was not bad but does not mean really great based on price can say affrodable price.More
It’s only a small shop but it it’s worth the wait to get in. No overly priced (certainly for Sydney) but it’s quality food every time. Quiz and easy. Just like you would have in Japan. I will certainly return here.
Had a light dinner last night. Interesting menu, ordered three entrees and two mains. Entrees were lovely, wasn’t too impressed with their main Fishcake though. Price was reasonable. Restaurant unfortunately looked “tired” Staff were great, but don’t speak good English
Came because of the excellent reviews but found it only good. Their dragon roll was a disappointment...it was filled mostly with rice some avocado and cream cheese and topped with unagi which came out with a soggy roll that was too chewy to eat and...not very flavorful. The mackerel was superb and salmon sashimi was delicious. The unagi don was good but not really hot and without much sauce.More
I have been to Kura a number of times now and have loved every meal I have tried. The Chicken Karage Ramen was awesome!
I went here alone, staff was very friendly, and sushi was good, especially for this price! I would definately return and especially liked the spicy tuna sushi rolls.
We booked a table for 12 for dinner on a Monday night. The location is good with plenty of parkings nearby and the restaurant is standing out at the corner, can’t miss. There were 3 tablets on the table for us to order so it...was easy for everyone to choose and order. The menu is extensive with so many options. We ordered our own dish with some soft drink, no alcohol. I ordered a bento box with half size ramen, salmon sashimi, chicken rice, salad and some lotus root chips. So much food for less than $20. Great value for money. Ramen, udon, rice and other dishes are a lot cheaper. All dishes was delicious. We will come back definitely.More
always no 1 gyu don and bento so far in sydney. small shop in corner of thomas and ultimo st, opposite Paddy’s Market. quick and good service, there are option to have 2 small dishes for the price of regular size and try different varieties...of food. ramen bit too sweet for me but texture is perfect. very recommended.More
Absolutely fabulous experience. Bookings essential on weekends. Very popular and for good reasons. First-time here and handed two large 'Tablets' for the table. What on earth have we got ourselves in for? Turns out that this is how you order your drinks and food. Very...effective (has lots of good pictures), efficient and fast way to order everything. As well as easy to use (even for us oldies). We opted for a couple of wines, beers and sakes. The food was genuine, authentic delicious and generous in portions. The service was very fast, so place your orders slowly. Pace yourself. Staff are friendly but don't hang around for chats. Probably because they are busy giving fast service! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next opportunity to go there again. 5 Star all round. May seem expensive but worth it!More
