This is a fabulous restaurant tucked away in a charming hidden lane in Sydney creating a fantastic atmosphere, especially at night. Everything I tried on the menu was delicious and highly recommended. Cocktails are great.

On the Thursday evening in March when we had a booking, I was relieved that there was a spare outside table - inside was heaving, noisy and a bit warm. Really excellent delicious Chinese dishes but small servings for our group of four, plus all wine choices were pretty expensive. Our ferocious bill of $620 for four takes it down... More

China Lane offers some of the best Asian fusion foods I have tasted in a long time. It can be pricey so I limit myself when I go here. From the entrees to the desserts, you will not be disappointed in this venue. Tucked away in the ever beautiful Angel Place, grab a table outside (if weather permits) and look... More

Took my wife and daughter here to celebrate my daughter's graduation from Sydney Uni. Ordered four entree sized dishes and one main with fried rice. All dishes were excellent as were the 3 glasses of wine we chose. A little pricey coming in at $200 incl tip but well worth it for a special occasion.

Came here for a business meeting, the service was amazing we sat outside and could hear the chirping of the bird cages ( no real birds all a recording). The food was okay, more a place to be seen than amazing food.

I booked China Lane as a dinner venue for group of visiting colleagues. The banquet provided a seemingly never ending series of dishes as a backdrop for our catch up. Food here is gorgeous, flavoursome and inventive and service is excellent. We had a couple of allergies among the group and these were dealt with seamlessly. Only downside is the... More

4 of us on a busy Friday night. Wonderful and amusing waitress. Service faultless. Ambiance fantastic. Food was an absolute joy. The John Dory was faultless as was the Wagyu beef but the start of the evening was the pork belly (which had been recommended) and my husband is still talking about it.

A last minute booking for an early dinner before a concert at the Recital Hall, but management was able to squeeze us in and we sat outside in the lane under the birdcages - perfect setting on a mild night. My wife ordered a glass of prosecco from the wine list but they only had Mumm champagne - but very... More

We have been to the restaurant several times, and never been disappointed. The prawn sugar snap dumplings is particularly remarkable. We have come to expect most satisfying meal regardless of what we order. Today however, we were disappointed by the rushed service, with hurried collection of used crockery and no apologies for dropped chopsticks, and more than obvious push sales... More

A table for 5 had been booked on the busy Friday evening shift and we were shown promptly to our seats. The waiter was knowledgeable about the wines and very helpful when we asked for cocktails not on the menu. The food was excellent, particularly some dumplings and a John Dory dish. This is a buzzy restaurant which is run... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
