Finally the CBD gets a French restaurant worthy of the name. Not only have Johan and Vincent created the perfect atmosphere for a night in France, they have also transported a wildly successful menu trialled for years in their Pymble establishment. This means that the service is exceptional and everything on the menu has been perfected. These guys not only survived the pandemic but opened a new restaurant! Do you need anymore evidence of the quality of their work? You have to come hungry and start with the exceptional sourdough bread and butter (served on cute little Gien plates) and commit to the escargot (perfect balance of herbs, garlic and foamy butter) or steak tartare. The steak mains are melt in your mouth medium-rare and the secret sauce brings them to another level. You should also try the wines as they have some amazing French varietals from Burgundy and the Loire Valley. If you can manage it dessert is a must. The warm chocolate poured from the silver pot is decadent in so many ways. Look out for their special occasion menus- excellent value. We were a few days too early for Valentines but the advertised set courses were highly tempting. Book a table. Once people know this place is here, it’s going to be tough to get through the crowds!

Situated near Circular Quay, Bouillon l'Entrecote is now my new favourite French restaurant. From the minute you walk in, the staff make you feel welcome. The menu has so many tempting items, we ordered seared scallops with a foie gras mousse on a pastry with onion jam, this was amazing, twice baked Roquefort soufflé which is a must, warm crab meat and the oysters. For mains we tried the chargrilled sirloin and frites , if you like your steak this was served perfectly and full of flavour, the grilled duck breast which was my favourite and as it was a Friday we were able to try the lamb. All were very generous in size. We definitely didn’t need to order the extra fries for the table. Dessert was profiteroles and vodka with sorbet which was very cleansing. Everything was yummy and I will definitely be back as there is so much more on the menu to try.

For our 50th Anniversary lunch what could be better than a French bistro experience in Sydney? We have both travelled to France frequently over the years and this restaurant made us feel that we had reurned to one of our favourite countries. The food and service were exemplary, and staff very friendly. We started our meal with coquilles St Jacques and tartare, which was expertly mixed at the table. Mains of sirloin and confit de canard were just perfect. A shared plate of crepes was a great finish to the meal, accompanied by a complimentary bombe with a sparkler in it for our anniversary. Wines were very enjoyable and reasonably priced.

I am very disappointed to need to write a negative review of Bistro Bouillon l’Entrecote. After reading a glowing review of the restaurant and their steak frites I was looking forward to dinner before my show at the Opera House. Unfortunately, it was not a good meal, the glass of wine and table water were the best parts of my dinner. I ordered their speciality — steak frites, Rangers Valley sirloin with secret sauce ($42) — at a pub I have had better Tuesday night steak special pub. The chargrilled sirloin is presented on platter resting on a green sauce. The meat should be kept warm at the table thanks to a candle under its platter, the candle under my platter died before I was served but it was not re-lit when the platter arrived The steak lacked flavour, a dry finish, the secret sauce added little to the steak and certainly could not hide the quality of the steak. The SMH described the fries as — “beautifully bronzed, hand-cut fries”, my fries were overcooked, only just warm and many tiny and short, really unacceptable. The steak and frites are served with a French dressing, it was a good, interesting slightly sweet dressing but unfortunately the kitchen flooded the salad so much the iceberg lettuce was swimming in dressing. When asked by the Maitre d’ I gave him my honest opinion, his approach was exemplary and could not be faulted. Perhaps they had an off night — these things happen. My last gripe is with all of us customers. Why do we continue to demand sirloin, rump, filet to the exclusion of cuts such as flat iron, hangar steak and others give chefs more room.

We booked at table 3 months prior to my Mother's Birthday (while we were in the restaurant having lunch) for Saturday 9 July 2022 for party of 6. We requested a specific table (the round one). We arrived and there was another party at the table we requested. We dat down and ordered drinks. Half the drinks arrived and we had to wait another 20 minutes for the other drinks to arrive so we couldn't toast my Mother. We ordered numerous bottles of wine, of which 3 were out of stock. The entree my Mother ordered Le Foie Gras arrived with one small slither and was so small it only took 3 mouthfuls to finish. The rest of the meal was the usual and good. Restaurant knew it was my Mother's Birthday and nothing came out from the kitchen despite being Birthday acknowledgements at other tables. Our experience this time was not the best and as the lunch was quite costly I believe the experience could have been better. We have been here numerous times and the service has always been good. It is a shame that a few little things can grind down an experience. Many thanks Christopher

a very good food served from the chef to you. we tried snails, crab tartare with sauce, and lobster with risoto. they are amazing!!!! and there is beef steak with some pesto gravy, it is good but not the greatest. their wine is a must to try! you need to ask the waiter /waitress for recommend wine with your food that you order in that time. was about to order their wellknown desert of pie, but we both are full and ordered chocolate dessert to be shared.

This is primarily a stake & frites place. It is small and reservations are a must. The staff has French accents which gives it a sense of authenticity. The food was very good. I had the duck margrit, my wife had the French onion soup, and we split a plate of escargots. All were very well-prepared and very tasty. We were shocked by the wine charge because two "large" glasses = $AU80 but that was not clear when my wife ordered her wine. I had a martini that was very small. Service was not especially attentive and kind slow. All in all, a nice meal.

Honestly, I was so excited to try this place but unfortunately I was disappointed. The wait staff was great but the food was not worth it at all. Coming from a Michelin Guide restaurant, I understand French cooking and last nights creme brûlée was inedible, it literally tasted like chicken. I don’t know if it was a couple weeks old or if it was in the fridge next to savory dishes. We also got the tomahawk steak, which was cold and super fatty. We spent $1,200 between six people and let me tell you it wasn’t worth it at all. I would give it a one star rating but they did comp the creme brûlée and the ambiance was nice.

This is a great little French restaurant near Circular Quay. Terrific vibe, buzzy atmosphere and wonderful food and service. When we arrived we ordered cocktails - the smoked cocktails are amazing - with a fresh warm baguette. For mains we both had the sirloin which was served perfectly seared and sliced, accompanied by a simple green salad with walnuts, and a bowl of crispy fries. The quality of the beef was extraordinarily good. The wine list is extensive, with plenty of options by the glass, carafe or bottle. Highly recommended.

Fantastic! This restaurant is exactly what Sydney needed. We started with a very warm and professional welcome downstairs from Diego. It was followed by the beautiful setting upstairs, the delicious food and fine selection of wines and Champagne by the glass. We absolutely love it here and it will become a regular dinning spot for us. Bonus points for a great looking, well stocked bar downstairs with some small plates available. We selected seared scallops and Foie gras mousse,Tartare au Couteau,Le crabe Façon thermidor and a Foie gras.

The servers and hostess were initially very snooty and unfriendly but upon speaking French with them they appeared to warm up. That is until after 1 hour and 10 minutes of dining, and I’m seeking to order dessert and a cognac, I was told that they needed the table and I could enjoy my cognac at the bar but needed to vacate the table. I was amazed that after only 1 hour they would say that so I paid and left. I had previously been a fan since the food is quite good but after such an inexcusable behavior (I could understand if it were 2+ hours) I won’t be back and plan to share with ALL my friends. Quelle dommage.

We took mum here for her 65th birthday dinner and everyone had a great time. The place is elegant but not pretentious. It's classy but relaxed. The music choices were spot on and we immediately fell in love with this place soon as we sat down. The food was exceptional. Couple dishes left strong impression on me: La Saint jacques as the entrée. The scallops were so fresh and perfectly cooked. The onion jam and that puff pastry on the bottom is to die for. And the dessert. The Tarte tatin omg! The best one I had to date. The apples melt in your mouth, the pastry so light and buttery. The caramel sauce on the bottom was sticky, warm, with hint of apple. Ooh lala..

The food here is exceptional; the double baked roquefort soufflé combined beautiful flavours although we were less sure about the thermidor as the truffle tended to dominate the flavour. The brûlée and Le Chocolat deserts were wonderful. Good service and atmosphere.

The food is great and the decor is fun and playful. The environment on the casual side and a bit more laid back as I saw patrons in shorts and sneakers. The French onion soup and scallops are fantastic and so is the steak with the secret sauce. The Tarte Tartin for dessert was wonderful as well. Service was great and the waiters are pleasant. As a bonus, there’s a waiter there who is Cillian Murphy’s doppelgänger, some eye candy for you ladies.

We didn't have a reservation but they managed to accommodate us. It was packed with a fun atmosphere. The steak, frites and salad were delicious and we're still talking about the 'secret sauce'. Soooo good to have some Bordeaux red too - it had been too long. A treat as not the cheapest.
