We were really curious about Sake, great location and reputation. Scenery is nice albeit too noisy to be able to enjoy a conversation, the promiximity with Argyle might explain this ? All dishes are enjoyable, but nothing surprising and no waouh factor although we both took the 120$ chef menu and were expecting more. Had a good time but would... More

We tried one night to come here but the wait was too long. Glad we came back the next night. Food overall was very good. Only reason for not 5 stars is the oysters tasted too fishy and wasn't very pleasant. Spider roll, spicy tuna, salmon sashimi, prawn steamed dumplings and prawn tempura were all great. Cocktails were unusual and... More

It's time to find a new Japanese restaurant. . It feels like sake has lost focus on service and customers and is more interested in its brand. (That's why they have a brand manager). Food is excellent. Service not excellent. I tried to get attention from some one for some time last night to no avail. Food arrived after we... More

I was having dinner alone in a business trip and wanted to try the restaurant according to comments in Trip Advisor. First, the service is excellent, at least the girl who attend me, who was really kind and looking for my comfort all time. I would say that all waiters seem to be so eficient. In the kitchen, open and... More

Drink menu is thick and many Sake you can choose, meal menu is a bit limited, however, high standard quality food we tasted. Wonderful interior, it is NOT a full meal place but order small plates and share with your friends or small group. good for special occasions. Enjoyed.

I book this restaurant every year for my husband and I around Valentine's Day weekend. I so look forward to it every year, I'm never disappointed! The sushimi is to die for, melts like butter. The salmon and tuna tacos are beautiful. The cocktails are so tasty you can't stop at one. The service is always very attentive and quick.... More

Looking forward to showing off some of Sydney's dining options to a visiting friend, but this place was a little disappointing. The food was excellent, and beautifully presented: sashimi, scampi tempura, kingfish double crunch were all fantastic. The ambience is great cushion floor seating around the perimeter and tables and chairs in the centre of the restaurant and a bar... More

Dropped by for dinner. Ordered a variety of entrees and mains. Drinks menu has a large selection of beers, wine and Japanese alcoholic beverages. Overall the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was prompt and professional.

My wife and I are from the United States and we were craving Japanese. This restaurant had positive reviews and was close to our hotel in The Rocks. We were expecting good things but unfortunately we were let down. We ordered sake, salmon nigiri, sashimi tacos, king fish sushi roll, and the miso black cod and the total came out... More

The full kitchen is behind the sushi bar, which is the best seat in the house. They also have communal tables that they seat you at if you don't have a reservation, which is different for an expensive sushi restaurant. Loved watching all if the amazing prep that goes into making all of the various menu items. All of the... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
