Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Four of us dropped in for breakfast (and hot beverages). They have a pretty good breakfast menu. They offer “sweets” in addition to hot breakfast. Our server was exceptional. We were seated right away and menu’s presented to each of us. Beverages prepared and dropped...to our table in a timely manner. Hot food arrived shortly thereafter. Many folks stopping in to pick up coffee to go. We were all very impressed with our food and the service.More

Stayed close by and love the Deus brand anyway. Great atmosphere and the shop in same building. Good service and my eggs were fantastic with great pressed juice and chai. Smallish menu but good options.

Thought we'd grab breakfast before picking up bike parts I'd ordered. Cafe is a great venue but seriously under staffed. The barrista prioritised take away, so 50 minutes later and 30+ walk in take away, our coffee arrived, not particularly warm! Food was great. Then...headed in and picked up my motorbike parts. Still a very cool bike ...clothing shop.More

Good chunk of meat but pretty dry and bland and a pretty basic burger for the high price. The cheeseburger spring rolls actually did the burger effect much better.

Just visited here this morning and won't be going back for the rest of the time I'm living in Sydney. When arriving at our table we were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water, my partner ordered sparkling not realising we would be charged...for it as it was offered as if it were tap water ... Ordered our drinks, myself a flat white with almond milk and my partner a brewed chai. When it arrived my partner realised it has come with milk, which being dairy free he couldn't have, so asked if he could have one with almond milk instead. When we came to pay at the end the total was $24.91. In all fairness I didn't mind paying for the extra brewed chai that we had to order, because that's our mistake for not checking if it came with milk, but that means the sparkling water cost $6.81!! This is more than the brewed chai with almond milk which should have cost $6.80, and quite frankly is a bit cheeky that you get offered water not realising you will need to pay for it at the end!!!More

It was a cold Saturday night and we were wanting somewhere to warm us up, and what better way, than with a curry. We were racking our brains on where to go and Doytao Thai, an old favourite we hadn't visited in a while came...to mind. The recently upgraded road from Mascot through the back of Alexandria helped make up our mind, for you can travel there in no time. Anyway, it had been a long while since we had visited and we were lucky enough to secure a table on walk in. It was comforting to know Doytao take COVID protocols very seriously. All diners are made to sign in and all staff wearing PPE persol protective equipment, including face masks, gloves and face shields. The restaurant occupies a large space with an open kitchen visible as you walk in. The space could be descibed as dimly lit and could probably do with an update, a littlelack lustre. However we weren't here for the design of the restaurant space and didn't particularly care, especially when we were tucking into their delicious Penang chicken curry. Boy oh boy was this a good curry, the best we have had in a long time. The sauce fragrant with the kaffir lime leaves was noticeable. We had a serve of rice and roti, to soak up much of the sauce and a spoon helped with what was left. We also ordered the sizzling seafood dish, an assortment of prawns, fish, squid, scallops and vegetables served on a sizzling plate. An enjoyable dish, a good portion nicely prepared seafood with plenty of prawns and fish. We enjoyed our visit and will be returning again very soon for that amazingly good Panang chicken curry.More

The haloumi breakfast burger was yum, and the coffee not bad. The waiter - he just had attitude & deliberately ignored us... wouldn't bother again. Nice atmosphere though & a nice shop. I probably wouldn't have bought a t-shirt there if I knew the attitude...of the wait guy first - he should just get another job if he dislikes customers so much. The female wait person was nice & friendly though. We entered through the shop & seated ourselves - not seeing the sign to wait to be seated because we came in the other way, so this might have been why he deliberately ignored us??? Nevertheless, all customers should be treated in a friendly mannerMore

At last a significant change for the better. I have had occasion in the past to comment on the poor service and dull food here, but thankfully they seem to have got it together at last. Came for Sat breakfast to discover the hipster attitude...lads were mercifully gone and replaced by a smiling helpful manager with attentive waitresses and a really tempting menu. Service was friendly and prompt, food was interesting and tasted superb. Over all this place has become what it should be. Shame it took so long. We had the Rosti Benedict and Ranchos Heurvas - both faultless and delicious and highly recommended. Very glad I gave it one last chance - you should too. Much improved.More

For a number of years, we visited Deus cafe - on average - once a month. They were mostly enjoyable. Then, I don’t what happened. The coffee wasn’t quiet right, the menu choices were heavy (especially breakfast) and there wasn’t a large of more healthy...choices for growing kids. Anyhow, fast forward a few years and glad we returned. Visited with my six year who quite the little health freak and surprising, a number of dishes to chose from. The menu actually hasn’t changed much, but seems to now more healthy and more gourmet and we loved it. We shared the bacon and egg roll and granola and both were superb. And yes, I did mean the B&E roll. Simple in name, though not in taste and presentation. The team were very friendly and our server couldn’t do anymore for us. The coffee is still OK, not amazing, but not disappointing. LOVED the music. So apt for breakfast and even my little one enjoyed the old songs. Brilliant! Well done Deus, well done. So impressed to see a cafe retain most of its older menu and give it a new healthy and lighter twist. We will be back sooner rather than later.More

We stayed Veriu Camperdown recently and was introduced by Veriu Camperdown to have our meals there. Nice cool cafe and the food is actually nice though they are a little overpriced. I fault Veriu Camperdown not telling us there is 10% discount for us because...we are staying at Veriu Camperdown. With the discount, perhaps it won't be that pricey. Though we stayed in Veriu Camperdown 9 nights, we didn't go there second time because great cafe and restaurants are plenty in Sydney so we decided to try others. Perhaps if we know of the discount, we might have done another meal there - 6 of us! Anyway, other than prices, service and environment were good. Happy to revisit again, not as frequent as I like to with the steep price.More

This is how a Cafe should be run, other businesses take note! Staff were happy and cheerful even on a Sunday! Their table service is great and very polite and helpful with the menu. We didn't wait long at all for drinks and food to...arrive and we even had plenty of staff asking if everything is ok and if we wanted anything else. This is without a doubt the best service I have had in years! Not to mention the menu was fantastic and accommodating for all walks of life. This cafe also has a nice industrial but warm vibe with plenty of windows and wooden features. The hospitality of the staff is equally warm and rings true to the definition by taking ownership of their role. I am very impressed and would like to pay a special mention to Elle who was happy to make light conversation about the cafe and menu which made me feel very at home unlike a number at other restaurant/cafe's. Congratulations to Deus Cafe for having such a successful team. Regards, MB from Newcastle NSW.More
