Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The warning signs were all there, empty bar on a sat night. I said to the barman I like tiki drinks could he make one? he said he didn't know what that was. So we chose to look at the menu. I mentioned again to...another barman did they have any tiki drinks same response. I ordered a vls my girlfriend ordered something from their cocktail menu. It took three of them to make it reading off a recipe. Her drink ended being purple sludge. We asked for some food, so they came over with a bag of smoked almonds from coles/Woolworth and laughed at how they were homebrand and then charged us top dollar for them. Ive never seen this bar on the top cocktail lists in Sydney and I think there's a reason why. This looks like someone thought it would be cool to open a cocktail bar but then has done it the cheapest way possible, with work experience kids as bar staff.More

Came across Soul Trap as it was nearby to our dinner destination. Cosy and well socially distanced. Cocktails were quite nice - great to see a matcha based cocktail on the menu.. Great start to the evening.

I was staying near by for work & thought I’d visit a bar instead of a pub.... $15 for one small glass of wine??? Ekkkkkk no wonder it was empty. Place is nice but would never return due to price

Soultrap is a cool bar located in Surry Hills. With a widely stocked bar, they have a great range of cocktails too. If you're hungry, there's plenty of charcuterie boards to select from. We visited Soul trap on this occasion for their Whiskey event. This...kicked off their first of many whiskey events to come. We visited their Irish Whiskey Rumble hosted by Whisky Enlightenment. This was a whiskey event like no other, including an appearance by Connor McGregor, through his whiskey label Proper 12. The event was a battle to determine which whiskey would reign supreme. Certainly an enlightening experience for those new to whiskey or not; with information on each of the eight different bottles and the distilleries that produce them.More

Visited here for the first time. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the small bar feel. Nice to see another small bar in the area with an intimate vibe. Nicely decked out inside. Good drink selection. Friendly staff.

I won a voucher for Soultrap, booked a table. The Manager was friendly but it took 10 minutes to take our drink order, another 20 minutes to serve them. The drink were interesting but for a cocktail seemed to be watered down. After another 15...minutes they served the food. We had already finished our drinks. The plate contained a variety of delicious components. But it was 20 minutes too late. The waitress said that they were grossly understaffed. There was no musical entertainment. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. If the service was punctual and there was some entertainment I may have rated it better.More

Soultrap bar and grill is situated close to Central station and has a very cool vibe. They do music and comedy nights so check out their site if that's what you're interested in. We went on a weeknight after work. They take pride in their...charcuterie (selected meats and cheeses) and it's okay - not that exciting but okay. They also have a range of cocktails. I ordered a classic gin Martini with extra olives and it was very well balanced. Their website doesn't give you much indication of their menu or drinks list so best to drop in. We found them through a Groupon deal which I think was value for money. Staff are friendly.More

I booked because of the reviews, we had 13 people go, I wasn't one of them, but their feedback was disappointing. We had a 50% off food voucher which the staff didn't give them. The music was background music we thought it was live. They...said the food and drinks were expensive but average. The venue was ok. Lacking atmosphere... Maybe we've been spoilt prior to this?More

Little underground intimate bar. Went there on Wednesday evening and was quite quiet first but then there was Comedy night which we didn't know about. It became slightly noisy but that's what you can expect from such a small space. It was fun though. Their...cocktails are superb and we had also their charcuterie board which was really nice with good selection of goodies for your taste buds. Their staff is superbly friendly and attentive. Will be happy to come back.More

We stumbled into this quiet downstairs bar and were pleasantly delighted. It was very quiet but the bartender Luke was great, very knowledgeable about drinks. He made us amazing cocktails and was super friendly. Out party shared a charcuterie board, the meats on it were...delicious. Cocktails were great. Worth a trip in!More

This place was a nice and the mood lit underground place. I think it fits in well with surry hills. The cheese board was very nice with the different pastes.

A friend and I visited here last Wednesday afternoon. I had heard great things and wasn’t disappointed. Our bartender, Joshua, went out of his way to make us a customised cocktail along with 3 or 4 others from their list - which is excellent. The...bar turns into a comedy club on Wed evenings if you are are also looking for some entertainment. I can certainly recommend a visit here when in town. It’s a short walk from the CBD in Surry Hills.More

Funky and cool interior, underground bar, great location - close to Wentworth Avenue, city and bus stops to go anywhere! (We took bus 343 all the way to Crows Nest afterwards, very easy!) Food served here is not main big meals like steak, salmon, pizza...or pasta, but nibbles like cheese platter, charcuterie platter, tartines and chocolate cake for sweets. Perfect place for first date, light snacks before a big night out, catch up with friends over wines and cheeses, great music song choice, not too loud and cool vibe.More

I visited this bar on Saturday night 14.04.18 with my husband and friends and was really impressed with this hidden little underground treasure. This is a fantastic underground bar in Surry Hills for friends and couples who want to drink, share an assorted cheese and...meat platter and listen to great music. They have a DJ and on some nights play live music. The venue seats around 120 people. The staff a very friendly and offer excellent table service. We met the new owners Travis and Elliot who were extremely dedicated in providing the best service to ensure we had an enjoyable night. The bar serves a good variety of drinks and also mix great cocktails. The prices for drinks and nibbles are very reasonable. The location is close to fine restaurants and short walk from Central Station. I highly recommend this bar to all couples and friends who want to sit down and chill whilst listening to great music and sharing a few drinks. Opening hours are between 4 pm to 12 am Mon to Saturday. Travis advised us they will also open on Sundays for special occasions. Address 70–72 campbell st, basement surry hills, 2010, Sydney.More

Planned to visit next time I was in Sydney after reading about Soulbar on a list of “15 of Australia’s Secret Travel Experiences”. I was not disappointed! Small, cosy but not cramped. Friendly, well-informed staff. Delightfully different cocktails, great beers and wine, delicious food. Showcasing...great, quality produce from different regions of France (seems the owner is French and rightly proud of it). My “Soul Trap Spritz” was dry and refreshingly “herby”. Perfect aperitif or digestif. Good music too. A great venue for the start or end of your night out.More
