Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have had ice cream in many countries around the world, and I can say in all honesty that the white chocolate hazelnut ice cream sold here is the best ice cream I have ever tasted. Our server was very happy to let us try a few flavours, something that has become increasing rare in other countries. I highly recommend this ice cream shop. Enjoy!

I usually order Messina most weekends with a mix of new and old flavours. I am currently bulking so its more like 2-3 times haha. The closest store is Circular Quay and ever since moving near it I've been cheeky asking for special things in my comments on my uber eats. They always come through with the goods and often put little smiley faces on my receipts. Having such epic customer service at a local makes such a huge difference. If I could give them 6 stars I would. I highly recommend Circular Quay as the top dog store for Messina with the best staff.

Messina's not my top pick for gelato but it's good and ubiquitous and it's the only non-tourist trap ice cream around Circular Quay. They're probably the best around there anyway but they also charge the same as at their other branches. The Gelatissimo at the train station has jacked their prices up 15% while the awful Baskin Robbins and even worse independent gelato shop off towards the opera house charge about 40% more than Messina!

I love Gelato Messina. I dream about it. I base my accomodation and Domain searches on its locations. I am a fan. HOWEVER, this was an extremely dissatisfying experience as I waited at this branch for over ten minutes and there was no one in sight, despite it being allegedly open. I don’t know if the staff had just wandered off? I could have gone behind the counter and served myself I suppose? So no ice cream for me! in my once a year opportunity for Messina.
To add insult to injury, they didn’t have any pear and rhubarb, despite the fact that it is the core of my Messina obsession and allegedly one of their core flavours. Devastated.

We frequently visit Messina at The Tramsheds, Star City & Miranda and always get honest serves. Visited Circular Quay store last Friday evening and whilst gelato flavours were up to scratch, the serves were ridiculously small. We all asked for 2 scoops of gelato (as we always do) and you could honestly see a quarter of the bottom of the plastic gelato cup and the 2 scoops (one on top of each other) did not even reach the top rim of the cup. We were all served half scoops and the staff member who served us must of seen the shocked look on all our faces holding up these tiny serves & then asked if "we wanted more gelato". Why serve half portions and then be concerned that you ripped us off???? Back to the other Messina stores!

We loved this gelato spot. There are a good variety of strong flavours and they aren't too sweet. We tried the boysenberry and the pistachio/praline gelato and both were very good. We also tried the blood orange and Pandan coconut sorbet and they were good too but the gelatos were better.
They are located near Circular Quay wharf 6. The lineup looked intimidating but it moved very quickly. The venue kind of looks and sounds like a dance club.

Messina has several stores in Sydney. This time we're going to Messina near Circular Quay! Store-only. Limited time offer. I don't know, but if you ask a taste question, they will tell you and let you taste it! I only tasted one freaking out, but maybe I could have tried it a little bit before buying it! It was delicious.

This gelato shop is right buy the Circular Quay ferry stops so it has a lot of competition. The line was long but fast-moving thanks to friendly and efficient staff. Prices were reasonable. However, the big draw for Messina is their unique flavors. While they were unique the taste was honestly just meh.

So many excellent gelato places in Sydney and I think I’ve tried nearly all of them. For the first time I tried one of Gelato Messina’s selection. I was surprised that their Pistachio Praline was vanilla in colour not the usual pistachio colour.
But I went ahead and bought a scoop. No hint of pistachio, unless the sugary praline dumbs it down.
Nice but not nice enough

It was a difficult process to get the right photo because there was so many great ones! But, finally I found the perfect one to present!
It looks like there is a lot going on there, but of course the main looker here is the boysenberry cheesecake from @gelatomessina
I have had these many times before, but, this is the first time that I try and "taste" it rather than eat it.
When you first look at it, the texture is so perfect and somewhat imperfect, smooth and rough, and that it is very very sweet. I love it when they give this type of look as it allows the person eating it/reviewing it a lot to think about.
When I first bite into it, my mouth just melted, and started drooling a little bit, because, in most parts, it was quite smooth the cheesecake, and a few bits of roughness from the cream and curd on top, and it was very very sweet! The sweetness was balanced with the cheese and tiny bit of bitterness!
It really changed my thinking from the start because now I think I can eat the whole thing in one or two sittings myself! Thank you @gelatomessina

I once had the tiramisu and chocolate fondant ice cream and both were delicious. Another time I had the chocolate chip ice cream which was also super delicious. I can only recommend this ice cream parlor, even if you do have to wait.

Felt like a dessert and stumbled on this place. We had the best gelato and sorbet ever. Really hard to pick which of the many flavours to try. Favourite may be salted caramel and white chocolate but we have to go back to try the full range. Staff patient with us as we couldn't make up our minds. Yum

Did this solo after my wife tasted the samples. She did not like any of them
Flavors: Plenty to select but hard to see them all.
Taste: Having had gelato in the past numerous times, this place had my least favorite in taste. I had 2 different flavors and both were ones I would not order again. Not sure what their problems were either - but texture was strange too
Service: Rush!!!! Hurry and pay then move

My son and I came here for a treat before our walk around The Rocks.
He got a cup with peppermint choc chip and I got a waffle cone with the special of the day called The Big Mac.
My son loves his and mine was absolutely delicious.
This place was recommended and glad I listened!

Excellent ice cream with a wide choice of flavours and large portions. We all loved it. Would definitely visit again. Doesn’t open until midday and can get very busy but it’s worth the wait. Lovely staff
