Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Friends suggested this Resturant for a dinner out so thought it would be good ,however food service and ambiance were exceptional!
We shared entrees of Dolmades cheese saganaki, Calamari and Spanakopita.
All excellent ;fresh and very tasty.
Main course of roast lamb with peas and potatoes just fantastic and chicken with mustard sauce and mashed potatoes both went well to share between 4 adults with a side of green beans.
Deserts also excellent . Service attentive ,food served quickly and two big chats with Peter the owner capped off a great night .

We had a wonderful meal of great, fresh, flavorful, authentic Greek food at this family owned and operated restaurant. The terrific food was matched by the flawless service of the well-trained staff and the warm welcome which we received from the owner who took time to sit and chat with us. GO AS SOON AS YOU CAN !

Have just a wonderful meal at the Medusa Greek Taverna. Have eaten at many Greek restaurants around the world and this restaurant was as good as any. All starters were delicious & the lamb shoulder & the chicken kebabs were mouth watering. Deserts were superb & very authentic. Service was of the highest quality & the host Peter was friendly & attentive without being overbearing. Our waiter Michael was of the highest quality. We certainly will return to this restaurant.

Utterly average in every way. Go somewhere else :(.
Let me preface this review with the fact that we spent a month in Greece last year.
With that said. What we would expect to be no brainer Greek food items were lackluster at best.
The fava and tzaiki - 2 staples that we’d get every place we went to in Greece - the fava appeared to be off recipe and/or was several days old. lacking depth of flavor it didn’t please. Same for the tzaiki which there was just too much vinegar or the yogurt was going bad.
My wife had the special fish dish which sounded great on the menu; it was a yellow tail sesame seed crusted with avocado tzaiki sauce. it was under seasoned and just OK. Her favorite part of the dish was the fried zucchini chips and she doesn’t even like fried food, which was a plus.
I had the veal with Philo dough and kasseri cheese dish. It was pretty good overall.
Kids shared a plate of pasta that was bland and lacking depth of flavor.
They served us a bottle Pellegrino that was flat as well. It was at this point in time where I decided that I was going to write this review.
When we go out to eat we expect to be served food items that are better or at least as good as what we could make at home. With a few exceptions, what we had tonight was not anywhere close to reflecting the reviews of this restaurant which is the most disappointing part.
With such few days on our vacation we want to take advantage of every opportunity to enjoy good food. This was average at best and overall disappointing.
If you’re looking for a better Greek cuisine we suggest the Greek restaurant at the Belvedere just one block south which we had a day or two before and was thoroughly better and less expensive.
Regarding the service, previous reviews posted that the service was rude and unattentive, we did not experience this, although we did come when the restaurant first opened the service was over all friendly, attentive, and quick.
Would not recommend.

Every dish we had was like yaya uses to make. There was a good selection, well made, generous servings, reasonable wine list including Greek and Australian offerings.
Definitely go on an empty stomach. We got a great feed with wine and beer for about $100 per head (for dinner).

Delicious Greek food in Sydney CBD.
The restaurant has been open for a few weeks now and diners should rush back as they have a great offering.
Food was excellent. We had lamb shoulder which is naturally gluten free, chicken and prawn dishes. My son loved the flat bread!
Service was fast and friendly.
We chatted to the owner on the way out and he was fantastic, sitting out the front with a heater on so diners knew they were open again. A genuinely beautifully run restaurant that deserves support from locals and any tourists starting to visit Sydney again.

8 of us dined here (prior to COVID-19) and it was such a wonderful evening. We let the restaurant host choose our dishes and it was absolutely splendid. The lamb was juicy and tender, even my parents (Australian sheep farmers no less) raved about the lamb! The humble green peas with the lamb were elevated!!. Calamari and octopus were exceptional. The wait staff looked after us all night and were far more attentive than any other restaurant I've been to in Sydney recently. I rarely give out 5 star reviews, so trust me when I tell you- THEY ARE 5 OUT OF 5!!!

I had the good fortune to enjoy a fabulous night at Medusa with 16 friends and family to celebrate a 'zero birthday' on Monday.
The night got off to a great start with Peter welcoming guests with a glass (or two) of champagne on the outdoor terrace and giving everyone the chance to mingle and catch up after almost 2 years of intermittent lockdowns.
Once seated the set menu commenced with the shared entrees and my quests were astonished by the quantity, quality and presentation. A couple of guests even said they didn't need the main course after enjoying the bounty of the shared platters. However, the individually selected main courses continued to delight.
All the while the waiters kept glasses full and delivered the mains to the correct person without the 'food auction' which is unfortunately all too common these days. Time for dessert signalled the arrival of a whole coconut ravani cake complete with sparkler and happy birthday candles which had been specially prepared by the kitchen.
Each of the guests, many of whom had not visited Medusa before, praised the food, the service and the surroundings.
Heartfelt thanks to Peter and all the team at Medusa for a first class effort.
We will be back, as will many of our guests.

Wife and I stopped here for lunch since it’s so close to our hotel. I ordered the souvlaki and she ordered the moussaka. The lamb souvlaki was very tasty but cooked well done which I hate. It was not tender and it was difficult to cut or chew. My wife’s moussaka was very good. There was a large party next to us that was very noisy and made the dining atmosphere less than ideal

This family owned restaurant is a star in Sydney restaurant scene! The food is wonderful, the service is professional and charming. The fish dishes we had were superb - a wonderful combination of the superb fish of Australia with excellent Greek preparation. Everyone in the restaurant was clearly having as much fun as we were. Topping it off the host who is the owner of this family owned restaurant is warm and welcoming and took the time to Sita minute and chat with us. He expressed the hospitality for which the Greeks are justly famed.

Bad food, worse bathroom... As a Greek I was offended by the standard of the food. The domades and the gigantes were tinned. The calamari was badly cooked and we sent it back. The tzatziki had no garlic or flavour and the portions in the mezze plate tiny. Not that it mattered because it was awful. To top it off I don’t think the bathroom had ever been cleaned. Please don’t imagine this is food that any self respecting Greek would serve!

We are actually quite bewildered by this review, the meze plate for 2 people which includes HOMEMADE tzatziki, taramosalata, 4 dolmades. 4 pcs haloumi, 4 sausages, house made lima beans and pita bread (i do not know how you can say this is tiny) for which you say were offended by the standard but i can confirm that everything was eaten by the two ladies in its entirety. Our seafood here is as fresh as can be, picked up from the Sydney seafood markets daily by myself , the freshness has never been questioned but we took the calamari off the bill anyway as you had not touched it. We clean the bathroom everyday before and after service, during service we apologise if it is not up to standard - if you tell us we would stop what we are doing and make sure everything is stocked and cleaned. We are a self respecting Greek family run business for over 10 years and are proud of the food we serve, we cannot please everyone and it seems you are one in the very few we did not.

And that's the key.... Hosts! This is not a Restaurant where you just come to eat, and get served by wait staff that are just there doing a job, albeit good. The minute you walk in, you feel not only welcomed, but somewhat spoiled! It was our first time experiencing the sensational, traditional, Greek food, but from tables around us, many people were regulars, and you can see why. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, with (I assume) the owner, wandering the room ensuring everything was perfect. And believe me it was! My extended family are scattered all around Australia, but if I can get them all together for a meal in Sydney, it is a no brainer! A long leisurely lunch at what must be the BEST Greek Restaurant in Sydney, will do the trick!

We go to this place for 1 meal everytime we come to Sydney and have been visiting for about 10 years. It's great. Best dish is slow cooked lamb shoulder and I'm told and believe recipe has not changed for 30 years, and why would you. Dips, breads, cheeses and other mains all fantastic. Have never had room for desert unfortunately.

Medusa sits on the corner of Kent and Market, and you can easily miss it or excuse it for a "whole-in-the-wall" greasy spoon establishment. It is none of that. The menu has an excellent selection of authentic Greek food and the service is superb.
