We had a less than satisfactory meal here this week. The previous review sums it up well. It wasn't that busy but service was slow and patchy. You order by ticking off items on a sheet. The 2 Sushi portion were substandard. The rest of the orders took ages while the next table of girls accompanied by and 1 staff... More

I visited Daruma for the second time on 02 NOV 2016 as part of a group of 8 people. The occasion was a friend's birthday and the venue was suggested because we had all visited there earlier in the year for another birthday, which we all enjoyed, with tasty, competently prepared food and efficient service. However, this time round it... More

This restaurant has great food for great prices. The menu is a tick box sheet which the waiting staff collect, I had a few smaller dishes and one larger which was a sizeable meal but the bill wasn't big. Everything was bursting with flavour and well cooked. House Sake is good value too. Definitely recommend.

I visited with a colleague for lunch. The restaurant was fairly busy. We ordered kaarange chicken, salmon bento box and sushi plate plus green tea. We had to try several times to get the attention of the server to ask for mayonnaise and we didn't get any top up on our tea so 1 cup ended up costing $3. The... More

This restaurant used to be much better in terms of quality and variety. In particular, the sashimi has really gone down in terms of those. The used to have a few different types of fish, but now they just have salmon, and that wasn't at all fresh when I went there for lunch recently. The Miso soup was cold; I... More

Made a phone booking for 16.30. Checked they were open. Got there, showed us to our table then informed us that the kitchen only opens at 17.30. Asked for an explanation but staff just walked away. Asked for manager - just blank looks. No point having a reputation for good food if you take bookings when not serving it. Fortunately,... More

Came here to pick up some take away for the family. Staff were great. Plenty of food options to order, incredibly tasty and satisfied the whole family. I loved all the beer they had available in little kegs. This place seems very authentic and was really busy with a lovely atmosphere. I would think this would be a great place... More

This was my first visit to Daruma and I will certainly be going back for more. The food was fresh and tasty, and the service was excellent. A particular stand out dish was the mixed sashimi. It was exceptionally rest and tender, and probably some of the best I've had in Sydney. All in all it was a great experience.

We loved our meal, the busy atmosphere and the price! We were very lucky to get a table - you need to arrive early or book! Even though they were busy the service was great and the food came out quickly. Everything was delicious - our favourite was the deep fried eggplant! The menu has something for everyone - if... In the last year we have probably been here 10-12 times with a bunch of different friends and every single time our guests are just as blown away by the whole experience as we are! Atmosphere is lively and fun, staff are helpful with the very authentic menu, food is always next level tasty and portions are huge for the... More
