Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The famous machine-made custard puff is a must-try when you’re in Chinatown. The puffs are made on the site, with oozing warm custard and soft pastry. The shop now accepts a card payments, which is a big plus.

少し値上げしてることがわかりますね😂 I first saw this store, having a long queue at night in July, which makes me curious about the product. One noon in November there’s no one waiting and I went to buy puffs. They sell freshly baked puffs. Cream inside is very soft. Even when it’s cool down, the cream was still soft. I really liked them!

Every single evening there is a long queue for these custard puffs. The queue moves pretty fast. They are fluffy but to be honest nothing special. For us they were a bit overrated. In case you want to give them a try, eat them while they are hot.

Honestly I think the custard cream puff is overrated. The queue is long…because people just like to join long queues. If you do buy the puffs, eat it while it sis still hot. The fried yam puff (Wu-Kok) in the shop is really good. That one is one should try!

My friend (not a Sydney local) saw the cream puffs on instagram and decided she had to visit. Despite being a Sydney sider never stopped by here. What a mistake! We ended up going back 3 days in a row! The cream puffs are divine, worth the visit to Haymarket alone! 10 puffs for $5! A delicious bargain

Lovely little bakery in Chinatown. The Emperor Cream Puffs are delicious. Very popular, long lines to buy them from the whole in the wall between the bakery and restaurant. Sunday morning there was a short line.

I stopped by after lunch and the lines for the Eperror Puff's were too long so we went to get some. The stall for the puffs is located between the restaurant and the bakery. After getting out puffs the line got longer. They do take cards but have a surcharge. I happened to have cash on hand. The puffs were hot, crispy and tasty. It was quite moreish and a really nice snack while walking around the area.

Line up for the puffs. If you think you’ll eat 4 or 5, buy 10. They’re cheap and delicious. Worth the line up time and just enjoy the best value sweet in Sydney.

The cream puffs are the best thing you will ever eat! Filled with the most amazing custard like filling and these are best eaten hot, but be careful as they can burn your tongue if you are too fast in eating them! Extremely great price also. “Jonique Life” Follow our journey around Australia on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube as we highlight wonderful experiences and magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.

Went on a Friday night with another couple. We had a booking and were seated in an upstairs room with not much atmosphere. Food was good and service was ok. Nothing to write home about. I think they had functions on so we weren’t really the main priority on the night. There are many places so much nicer and more interesting. We had a gift voucher to use. Otherwise we would have chosen somewhere else. The highlight of the evening was lining up for emperors puffs at the little window outside the restaurant. They are amazing!

A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world.
