Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In contrast to recent poor reviews, we enjoyed a very lovely anniversary dinner tonight at Bar M. Well priced and generous servings, accompanied by an amazing NZ Pinot Gris. Unobtrusive and efficient service, plus the fascinating array of projections on the walls of this cool warehouse space. The ambience was relaxed, quiet and welcoming. Recommend for a special night out with a loved one. I recommend the arancini and kingfish tartare - spot on!

the Italian craft beer [Sardinian] was a treat, and also the staff and the spacious hi ceiling warehouse like venue, but my ventured spatchcock main course failed, too fatty, not crisp, and sailing into view on a sea of deep fried potato cubes, none of which I ate, my coach would shoot me, so thank the lord for the ever reliable rocket / radicchio / parmesan salad. Pastas looked good, where I should have stayed. We will return.

Had been recommended by friends and was not disappointed.. The ambience is stunningly cool with concrete floors, exposed roof beams, and iconic movie star images projected onto original brick warehouse walls. The slimline minimal black furniture, the central tables with tiers candles and the lighting all fabulous. Enjoyed very italian service, the food is sensational, as were the peach Belinis at the bar before dinner.

Understand that Restaurants have gone through an enormous hardship with the lockdown however what we experienced was unfortunately more than disappointing. Service felt unorganised, the food portions were small and badly cooked and in no relation to the price charged. Best memory would be the bread rolls. In short we (7 of us ) felt ripped off and certainly won’t go back

Very disappointing service - we had to ask for drinks twice. Mains were served with no cutlery- we had to ask a waiter for a fork. Had to ask for Parmesan. Then had to ask a waiter if we could have dessert. Food was tasteless no flavour and over priced. Don’t waste your money - your local Italian restaurant will be a much better experience.

I’m not normally the kind of person to write a review, good or bad but our experience at Bar M on Saturday night was just so bad I felt I had to try and dissuade people from spending their good money there. The service was awful, waiters leaving the table mid sentence and very clearly not really caring on wether the food is edible or not, the kitchen so unhelpful that they refused to change a main dish just a few minutes after it was ordered and long before they would have starting prepping it and cold mains when they did actually turn up... the list goes on. A very very disappointing night of which we will not be repeating.

I should’ve looked at the reviews before i booked!
I have never been to bar M and thought I’ll give it a try for my birthday. Unfortunately on the day of my booking I had gastro and so did another person (both with children also had gastro). I had spoken to Paola and she was being absolutely rude! As i was talking to her on the phone she immediately took $250 out of my account ($50 per person for cancellation) and wouldn’t even let me talk to reschedule my booking. Absolutely rude!!!!!
I even offered medical certificate and she wouldn’t even have a bar of it.
I should’ve just gone to Bar M and spread my gastro around.

Went here with a group of friends. The building is very interesting, but the food is absolutely not value for money. Nothing wrong with the food, but for the price you pay, would expect something above and beyond. And I left still hungry,
Long wait. ... not a huge problem, as I know kitchens can be busy, but would like to have been forewarned that there might be a bit of a wait.

Shame certain male members of the floor team let the whole experience down. Food on the whole was okay, but the moustached waiter who looked after our table was both argumentative and downright rude.

I really hate writing bad reviews but feel so compelled to at this time, if for nothing else than to get some value out of the money I have just wasted on this place. I’ll be as brief as possible.
Firstly our table was not ready so the Maître d’ invited us to the bar for a drink. That invitation was paid for by us of course! I asked for a mojito for me and my wife, and got a rum and sofa with mint leaves. I then asked the bartender to make us another one and told him the ingredients only to be told by the bartender that he was Brazilian and knew how to make a Mojito. Well he didn’t. What we next got was run and lemon juice with mint leaves. It was terrible.
For entree we got caprese salad and kingfish tartare. The salad was fine (it’s hard to screw up chopped tomatoes, basil leaves and mozzarella). The tartare was tasteless.
I got the rack of lamb for main. My wife got the prawn pasta. The pasta was great. My lamb was tasteless (like it was boiled) and over cooked. The sweet potato mash was cold - not warm or “was warm” but stone cold. I did not eat most of it and in fairness to the restaurant they did not charge me for it after I privately approached the Maître D.
I then order a coffee and was served with a Nespresso. For a restaurant charging about $40 for a plate of pasta and about $50 for a meat main, they should be serving real coffee or nothing at all.
Desert was average. The Creme Brûlée was okay. The chocolate pannacotta was not set properly and had a bland taste.
Service was non attentive and non responsive, partly because of their lack of understanding of English.
All that for $105 a head (with my main meal taken off the bill) with half a glass of wine.
I feel ripped off. Will not be returning. I suggest only sticking with the pasta dishes if you are game enough to go, otherwise avoid.

Great setting but horrendous service!
So many staff just wandering around but not serving or weren’t allowed to take orders - it was someone else’s job !!
Had to continually ask to order drinks, then food, then drinks
Side dishes servings were too small - 2 pieces of broccolini doesn’t feed 6 people !
