We are never disappointed every time we dine at Courgette. It is everything that keeps us coming back from the service to the flavours as well as the ambience of the place. Congratulations.

I will start by saying the food, service and wine was excellent. Magnificent in fact! We went for the 5 courses at $125. Description, presentation, flavours, etc were spot on. Couldn’t really pick which course I preferred as they were all sensational! BUT……. I left...hungry. Serves are barely small entree size. 5 mouthfuls and they were gone. It cost us $350 dollars a couple and we all commented that we were not full. So definitely a restaurant to visit, definitely fine dining, but you won’t be full.More
Excellent layout, menu and wine list. Staff are focussed on making your night enjoyable and relaxed and we would recommend this dinning experience but be prepared to pay a little more.
Just go! Courgette is finally back in the Canberra dining scene and is just as wonderful as it always was. Beautiful room, excellent food, good service. A special outing or just a delightful lunch.
What an amazing fine dining restaurant. I can’t believe the quality of food and portion sizes for the price. I’ve dined throughout Europe, Asia and the US and I’m still yet to find anything better. Dougall Blackmore is definitely an outstanding chef. 10/10.
Positives: + Food tasted great (description of each course in the 5 course degustation below) + Ambience and environment was classy + The staff member who greeted our party and took us to the table was nice, personable and caring Negatives: - Portions were small...(my stomach reminded me that it was empty and to put a review in) - A different staff member asked whether we were full at the end, to which I expressed that I was still quite hungry. This is after ordering a second course of bread at the end and nothing was done beyond asking if I wanted to order anything else when the menu only included 3 or 5 course items - I have never been to a fine dining restaurant where bread costed extra on top of the $125 per person (maybe I haven't been to enough fine dining places, only up to about 20) - the restaurant used the full 120 minutes to serve 5 courses (excluding the spoonful of cauliflower soup as an opener), which meant that the average wait time between the small courses that you can finish in 3 bites was 24 minutes. This coupled with the fact that the food was good made the wait seem much longer The food *Cauliflower soup - this tasted great and full of flavour and different textures, this was served in a piccolo-sized cup *Salmon course - The salmon was cooked perfectly, lightly crisp on the outside and milliseconds into being cooked on the inside. The sauce was aromatic and flavours married well. The size of the fish however could be finished in one bite *Scallops and king prawn course - 2 scallops and 1 king prawn with cauliflower puree. Tasted fresh and seasoned well, but couldn't taste the caviar that was supposed to be in the dish *Lamb course - one lamb cutlet was cooked perfectly and the baby beetroot perfectly balances the heavier potato galette, while the mint yogurt did the same for the lamb *Beef course - my disappointment here may be due to my misunderstanding of the menu. It says "Wagyu Beef MB6+" and thats just what I got, a seemingly unnamed part of that beautiful cow that was cooked to well done. The Black truffle in the jus was also almost undetectable. Expectations aside, the dish also demonstrated great skill from the chefs, with the honey carrot puree giving a normal beef dish a sweet twist *dessert - pistachio tartelette, lemon cake and strawberry ice cream - definitely another highlight where each piece felt delicate and light to finish. the Ice cream in particular tasted like fresh strawberries and just the right level of sweetness. Verdict Though the food was delectable, my experience overall was below expectations as Courgette is supposed to be one of Canberra's finest. Unfortunately, due to a need for another meal after the visit, I cannot rate this higher than average.More
A gorgeous and elegant fine dining restaurant which could do with a few small improvements. We were a group of 20 dining in one of the lovely private rooms. Dinner was on a Thursday night, and we were celebrating a wedding (although the restaurant wasn't...informed by our hosts). Food was excellent and presented beautifully - art on a plate. The let-down was the service. For a fine dining establishment, it lacked those little subtleties like an introduction/explanation of the menus one might expect at a venue like Courgette particularly as our group had several vegetarians and pescatarians. The whole service from ordering to the last dish felt a little rushed! The drink service and number of drink menus were definitely lacking. We ordered 2 bottles of Moet GV. 2013 . The bottles arrive, popped opened in the background then glasses filled. Refills were lacking and random. I had one glass and was never offered another then I discovered my glass had been taken away. My partner had his glass refilled 3 times. Aside from the 'okay' service, dinner at Courgette was delicious.More
We chose to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Courgette Restaurant and as lovers of fine food and exceptional service we weren’t disappointed. We opted for the 5 course degustation with wine pairings and couldn’t fault a single thing. Every mouthful was delicious, the food beautifully...presented and service exceptional. It would be fair to say that we’ve found our new favourite fine dining experience in CanberraMore
We are occasional visitors to Canberra but had not been here before. Delighted to get a seating on the weekend and had a very enjoyable experience. The food was very good and the welcome and ambience is excellent. High attention to detail, and very professional...in every way. We went for the three course dinner option which was more than enough and every course was enjoyable. The restaurant was busy but service was efficient and timely. It's not a cheap night out by any means but a great choice for a special occasion. We would happily return.More
A warm welcome, pleasant surroundings, excellent food (with the exception of my very oversalted lamb main course) but let down by a very noticeable slackening of attention to service later in the evening. My desert portion also was on the insulting side of small as...was my son's fillet and the hand cut chips were 1$ each (I counted). Doubt if I'd return.More
The food is good. Family had Christmas Eve dinner which restaurant kindly agreed to shift from 8.30pm to 6pm when I called on Christmas Eve itself! The salmon ceviche sprinkled on a piece of cooked salmon as a starter was good. The fish just cooked,...not too dry but slightly crispy outside. Even better was the chicken which I had been sceptical of. It was well seasoned, not dry or overcooked and nicely crisp outside even without skin! Excellent scallops. Order that if you go. Had a lovely Canberra Chardonnay ( Lark Lake). Plating is well done. Desserts of chocolate tart and brûlée were great too. Service is good although the wait between 2nd course & mains was a little too long a wait ( like 20 minutes). Location in town is just across a big carpark so that’s convenient too! Only downside- our table in the centre had setting sun reflection off the sidewalk making it uncomfortable. Maybe a curtain or pull-down shade for a few minutes would be good.More
We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Chose the three course lunch. For a hatted restaurant the service was very underwhelming. They never even asked my husband if he wanted to order a drink and I had to flag them down to get one ....They put bread on our side plates without asking if wanted it (I cannot eat bread) and charged for it (even though mine was uneaten, they even asked if I wanted more bread even though it was obvious I hadn’t eaten what they had served). My wine order wasnt served with my main. Glassware was thick and ordinary, chairs were dirty/stained. It sounds a bit pretentious but this is a hatted restaurant and you are paying a premium for a fine dining experience. Food was fine, very small portions though so not great value for money and not the wow factor that would make you want to come back or overlook the underwhelming service levels. To put it in perspective we were coming off the back at dining at muse and Morgan’s in the hunter valley, they are streets ahead with service, ambience, wine and food. Much prefer the boathouse for service and delicious food.More
A great night last night, 10 ladies celebrating Christmas, we had the private cellar room, service was amazing, food stunning and good value for money for a 4 course dinner at $95 pp. We even had a visit from James who willingly donned the Santa...hat and sack to distribute gifts to each of us. Thanks to all, you made it so special for us all.More
Had lunch there last week and the food was good. There was not much service at all even if there weren’t many tables at all. Had a question about my bill after I paid so I emailed them to clarify what that item is. Been...a week and never got a reply. I really regret tipping them. Absolutely not worth my tips. Will not return and not recommending. For the amount of money you need to pay for a meal there, there are better options available in Canberra that has much better services.More
Great food, great service, great wine and great atmosphere and not too over priced. We will be going again next time we are back in Canberra.
