In a relatively quiet part of Canberra's CBD,this is outstanding. Especially for Valentine's Night. First off - there's carpet on the floor, so it's quiet and you can hear each other talk. The tables are suitably distant from each other, and there was very appropriate background music, played softly.
Each of the four courses was of a small size, so you didn't feel over-full at the end. The tastes were also balanced, so as to be piquant and tantalising. Very good choices of wines by the glass,  The 4 courses were $88 (without wine), representing excellent value for everything entailed.

I'm glad I came to courgette for my birthday!
The atmosphere is very elegant and high class.
The stuff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Not to importunate but attentive. And you get greeted by the chef-owner himself, who also takes your order.
Then the food! I had the 7 course set menu with matching wines: A very well though through experience! The quality and preparation is top notch, and each wine is a good match for it's course. I loved every dish!
(Also, each of the two menus is available for a solo order, no need to be two)
All of this combined with the little details (breadbuns with smoked butter, palette cleanser, petit fours, the stuff helping you in the jackets when you leave, ...) and the good value for your money will make return for sure!
Can't wait for my next visit!

The food was absolutely impeccable.
The only negative and it seems to be a running theme with reading some comments below, is that the food comes out way too quick. I ended up having to deliberately put my knife and fork down half way through each meal just so I could slow them down. If I’m paying $350+ for two people, I want to savour my meal. This sadly meant the second half of my meal each time was cold.
The staff were constantly coming past like seagulls which made me extremely uncomfortable. A couple of hiccups which was my plate got taken half way through a course and my partner had to yell out and say I’m not done. Our wine glasses were taken away towards the end and we had to remind the staff member we still had wine in the bottle which we wish to finish (understandably when you’re paying $70+ for a bottle).
The food was 10/10, staff definitely made it a more disappointing experience. I get that they are time pressured, however, it’s not the restaurant nor the type of meal where they should be coming around bringing plate after plate out as soon as you’re finished. I felt rushed and didn’t enjoy my night due to this.

What a shame. We love fine dining and were really looking forward to great food and an experience. The food was good to very good. But the service and experience was well below par - and certainly not of the standard of a five-star restaurant.
We had four to five different people serve us (get that this is the approach of some restaurants).
It was so dark at our table that I had to use my phone light to see the menu.
We'd ordered the set menu, but the waiter really dropped the ball by not explaining what was being put to us. And they forgot to bring our drinks at one point.
I gave this feedback directly to the maitre d who was aghast (but heard him later paying out on staff ... "explain the food, explain the food!".
Would not recommend, especially after dropping a big bag of money on this (non) experience.

The decor and ambience is excellent. The food is very good although not dazzling. The service is attentive, although of the type where multiple staff serve a single table, which means no one has responsibility for ensuring that the wine you want for a particular course arrives on time. The rate at which the plates appear is also disconcertingly rapid.....a seven course degustation meal should be a stroll not a sprint. The main problem, however, is that the list of wines by the glass is limited to four white and four red, and not a single one is French or Italian. For many people fine dining includes a fine glass of "classic" wine (not a malbec from Chile). Most restaurants of this level in Sydney or Melbourne would use the Corovin system to dispense expensive and possibly rarely ordered wines by the glass, but not here. Courgette works well in Canberra but would need to improve its wine offerings to be competitive in a major city.

Food was delicious as it should have been for the price. Service adequate but relied on menu for full description of meals rather than server. $8 for a latte expensive especially when a cappuccino was delivered instead. I also wonder why more restaurants don’t have complimentary filtered/ sparkling water considering the cost of food.

I chose Courgette as the venue for my spouse’s birthday dinner. I had been many years ago and once again I was not disappointed with this visit. A Covid safe venue, all customers were lining up at least 1.5 metres apart and we were met with a smile and professional service. With our jackets politely taken for us, we were escorted to our seat and offered professional service for the rest of our visit. Our glasses were kept topped up without interruption to our conversation, the courses were timed perfectly to allow an enjoyable meal. The meals were mouth watering. The restaurant offers a sophisticated atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy conversation without having to raise your voice to be heard across a table. We will be back again.

I realise there are COVID restrictions in Canberra but expecting people to rush through a seven course degustation in two hours is unreasonable. If you cannot give people time to relax cut the number of courses and the price. The restaurant appears to be under new management, I haven’t been for a year and did not enjoy it as much this time.

Our family of four had a celebration dinner at Courgette the other night, and the food was to die for.
We chose the Degustation option. One of us had the vegetarian version, and loved it as much as the rest of us. Personally, I was not enamoured of the Angus beef course, but the other two loved it.
To amuse ourselves, we were taking points off for service hiccups, ie making us wait a few minutes when we arrived, clipping the cutlery with the meal plate, etc, but all was forgotten when the food arrived.
A memorable meal, for all the right reasons.

We visited Canberra for my husband's birthday and I booked here after researching and reading the reviews. I would like to think that something was wrong the night we visited, but there were so many failings that it's hard to believe this was a rare event. The venue is beautiful and appealing; the reception wasn't what I would expect but that's a personal matter.
Looking through the wine list it was very limited with some repetition (why include two Canberra Rieslings unless they're distinct), I mentioned to the waitress I was looking for an albariño which they didn't have so trying to find something similar. She just said "No we don't have it, I'll come back", without offering suggestions or getting the sommelier.
We went with the 5 (instead of 7) menu and so relieved we did, as there were only 2 dishes out of the 10 that were even close to what you would expect at a restaurant of this level. First were duck confit and a smoked salmon (both underseasoned and lacking flavour). The swordfish which we heard was a favourite had either been left under the heat lamp too long or been microwaved, with the sauce having that coagulated shine and split. The waygu was overcooked, dry.
The service was atrocious: the explanation of the dishes was done in a monotone exhausted way. I know it's hard to remember all that's being presented, but you shouldn't leave the dinner with the feeling you are suicidal. If it's that hard limit the explanation and present it simply- maybe they knew what was being served wasn't good? We shared all meals, and as we were swapping a particularly bad one the person I assumed to be the maitre'd (was wearing a grey shirt) said as he was passing our table "was going to ask if everything was OK but it must be if you are swapping plates". I was going to provide feedback despite the perceived lack of interest in it when I observe something at another table which told me it wasn't worth it.
Who I assumed to be the sommelier (white shirt and had spoken to another table presenting a wine bottle) brought to a table near us two tumblers with clear liquid. The more mature gentleman said "we didn't order Cointreau" to which the sommelier replied, "oh no, it's not Cointreau, it's triple sec" (Cointreau is a brand of triple sec, and anyone working in hospitality, let alone a sommelier should know that, so it piqued my interest). Gentleman then said "we ordered grand marnier" to which the sommelier replied "triple sec is the same thing". Well the gentleman stood his ground and was then offered XO cognac on the house, but the interaction confirmed my feeling that this restaurant was selling mutton dressed as lamb. Save your money and go to places were you'll be treated with respect and served what you ask/ paying for, not some cheap imitation which they'll try to convince you is the same. Awful food, awful service, incredibly disappointing experience.

We were really looking forward to Courgette and expecting an exquisite meal. Instead, some of the dishes in the degustation menu were bland, the meat wasn't well prepared, and the portions were too small for the price. The service was friendly enough but a bit chaotic - it took a long time to bring things we asked for and we had a number of different people attending us. For a so-called fine dining restaurant the wine list was limited and uninteresting. Would not recommend.

Another wonderful meal at courgette. We had the four course selection which was great and suitable for everyone including the vegetarian. The first drinks order was slow but once drinks arrived everything happened. Seemed to be endless small bread rolls to start; a delicious pineapple sorbet was served after mains and petite fours accompanied coffee. So a four course meal became much more. Even my 90 year old mother managed all courses! Courgette is our favourite restaurant for special occasions. We’ll be back.

An overall disappointing experience
Service was rushed and there were multiple issues with staff giving the wrong wine pairings and trying to play it off as the correct wine (its obvious that they've made a mistake when they give you the same wine with 2 courses in a row).
Food was very aesthetically pleasing but disappointing in flavour.
Canberra has so much more to offer that Courgette simply doesn't stand up

Lovely evening at Courgette. We had the 7 course degustation with paired wines. Each course was sized well, so we didn’t feel uncomfortable at end of evening. Clearly a lot of thought and artistry went into each course, there were a couple of standouts and a couple that need a tweak. Standouts were the salmon and beef dishes which were really well put together with complimentary flavors. Wines were an excellent match. Service started off well and declined over the courses - we also felt rushed (plates were whisked away before we had finished chewing!) and the next course was on the table. Would definitely go back, but next time I would be specific with the server about timing of meals and not being rushed.

I have had numerous 'tasting menus' at premium restaurants, and was expecting small portions, but this was ridiculous. There really shouldn't be any plurals in the menu, so where it says 'macadamias', you should expect one or less. I was still quite hungry after leaving, and each portion was minimalist. The 'matching' wines were unchallenging & uninteresting, with very, very small pours.
The food was presented in a very photogenic manner, plated artistically, and very well prepared as well as tasting nice (when we could find it on the plate).
One item had 'pickled walnuts' as an element. It took me a while, but I did eventually find it. Maybe 1/2 or 1/4 of a gram of walnut, perhaps a cubic millimetre? The menu's obfuscatory language (which isn't limited to this establishment), described the teaspoon (or less) of mashed potatoes as 'pomme puree'.
The staff seemed a bit over-stretched, although were affable and friendly. But the constant scripted barrage of requisite queries was unpleasant and unwelcome. Service was a tad slow, but they did manage to shuffle us out at the end of the 2 hours. When the staff, who repeatedly asked both of us individually, after every course, 'how did you find the ...?', I was most tempted to say 'It would have been easier with a magnifying glass', but alas, I don't think they would have understood the message.
There was only one choice of meal, and that was the 7 course tasting menu. I assume the whole restaurant had the same thing as us, and since we all had a set time-frame to eat, the kitchen was just an assembly line, as one would find in the Fiat factory, making tiny little cars, with shiny bonnets, that never seem to go very far.
Overall, quality food, extremely poor value for money even with the quality taken into account, service trying, but trained to be irritating. Very disappointing, in what was supposed to be a special event for my wife and I.
Pretentious, but this is Canberra.
