My husband & I went for our wedding anniversary. On a good note, our waiter was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, we found the food and timing a bit odd. Weirdly for a degustation menu, we found it too much food. The promo photos show beautiful,...delicate portions, this is not what we received. The first & 2nd courses were huge amounts of processed meat & stodgy sweet bread & potato. The lamb was fatty & after the lamb, there was a piece of trout (large) with soggy skin & little flavour. As well as a weird rubbery octopus bolognese. The clincher was when the bill arrived with suggestions for tip amounts already calculated - 20 & 30% tips. I don’t like giving bad reviews, and have waited several weeks to do this to consider it, however, a lot of improvements are needed to the menu & serving timings if a place like this is going to thrive into the future.More
The staff were the best thing about this restaurant, they tried but were under staffed . The food was below average, how do you charge $120 a head and first course was a sticky bun with mortadella ( Devon sandwich) and a potato scallop with...garlic butter 👎 After some other very average dishes the lamb ribs were just fatty and tasteless then came the salty Octopus bollinase with rainbow trout It was a very ordinary dish We were a table of 6 and not one of us walked out with any good comments about this place. Don’t waste your moneyMore
Set meal of many tasty dishes. I had the wine pairing, which worked well. All the dishes were very good and the service was warm and friendly. I particularly liked a Riesling that was paired with a crab and egg dish. The fish was also...very good.More
We have been here several times before and it was great but our recent visit was a let down. The food was good, but every other aspect was disappointing. It was very slow between courses and the paired wine arrived too late for every course....It ended up being a three hour visit because they were clearly so under staffed. The staff were literally running to try and keep up. For the prices they charge we expected much better.More
we have been before and it was disappointing but this time round there was no comparison. Thanks for great food and service.
The tasting menu was excellent, with a nice variety of flavour and texture in each dish. Excellent service throughout the night (thanks, Ella!), with very prompt clearing of the table and concise introductions to each dish.
Really disappointed. This was not a fine dining experience at $120 pp at all. We were seated outside and it got really cold and were never asked if we'd like to move inside even though there were lots of empty tables. Then it started raining...... still not asked if we'd like to sit inside. WE had to ask for the gas heater to be turned on and we were given a blanket. Still empty tables inside... We were asked 3 times if we had any allergies though! Then there are some waiters who only take drink orders and some who do food.... As a paying customer why should we have to remember who does what? We could never understand one of the waiters who was trying to tell us about the food because of the super thick face mask he was wearing, then our very young 19 year old waitress who seemed to only serve the food told us her life story which I don't think is necessary at a 'fine dining restaurant'. The food - massive serving of treacle butter and not enough bread. Melon and salmon salad... weird.... lamb average... Barramundi disappointing....Overpriced wine - a given! I just don't have anything positive to say even though I've heard great things. If you want true fine dining go to Aubergine at Griffith Shops... they know what they're doing! Don't waste your money at Sage.More
You will not be left disappointed or hungry - Sage was amazing! We experienced their current menu and genuinely from start to finish, every dish was fantastic! Our incredible waiter Owen took time to explain every meal and wine, in only a way that he...could, which made the night so enjoyable! The food was immaculate and every dish complemented each other but also stood apart in its own right - especially the kohlrabi dish and blood orange dessert! A special shout out to Bethany also! Even when our night was over - she came to assist me getting to our car when it was pouring rain which was very much appreciated! An wonderfully amazing night!More
The menu for lunch is extremely limited (that may be due to COVID-19 ) but the offer is very sparse. We chose from the a la carte menu instead of the tasting menu. Entrees - Kingfish (lovely) and a vego ‘salad’ (minimal) followed by mains...of Glazed Lamb ribs (nice) and Glazed Leeks which was SO DISAPPOINTING. This isn’t listed on the menu but was offered as a vegetarian alternative. Literally 4 small leaks - the whites were stringy and the green ends were charred. This may be appropriate as a side dish, but probably not. Each of the mains came with Cashew Butter but not a vegetable in sight? There was no side veg or salad on the menu. Very strange. The leeks were replaced with a fish dish which was also nice. Considering the reputation this restaurant has it was really disappointing. The wait staff were fine and v friendly. We’ve previously been for dinner which I would consider, but there are other better options for lunch. (Seriously, 4 small inedible leeks - I can’t imagine any vegetarian being happy with such a sparse offering at $65 a head)More
Oh my Lordy, what an amazing experience! The restaurant had a set menu but they provided a vegetarian lay out for me, and it was hands down one of the most delicious sets of food I’ve ever eaten! Our waitress Maddy was extremely lovely and...provided us with the best service. It may be a little pricey, but the quality of the food, service and location makes it worthwhile.More
What a great afternoon in a lovely venue- delicious meals and friendly, knowledgeable and attentive service by Owen
The attention to detail is what makes this restaurant. Or, perhaps it’s the high quality of the food. Whatever, we went for lunch to celebrate a birthday. And just loved the diverse offerings in the tasting plate menu. The service was excellent and the content...and rationale for each course was lovingly and carefully described. We both loved it. Plan on going again in the not too distant future.More
Had pretty high expectations for Sage and it didn't disappoint! Our server Owen was awesome, great drinks (I had the cocktail pairings, my friend had the wine pairings, both well worth it) and the food was amazing. Overall a fun, unpretentious dining experience in a...great setting. Will definitely be back!More
We went to Sage for lunch to celebrate our anniversary as well as a dear friend's birthday. The food was excellent - including the extra treats throughout the meal- the wine list was extensive and also of a high quality. We were served by Tia...who was extremely friendly, informative and made our day very special.More
