Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have been to this restaurant many times over the years and had good experiences. Last night was my 74th birthday. We were greeted by an Indian Gentleman - a surprise and I assume that it has changed hands. It went downhill from there. The...Entree said prawns and scallops - plural. I got one of each well past their prime and it was impossible to taste the 'button-size' burnt scallop. For the main I got a 'fish-finger' size of Blue Eye Cod and a few peas for $44. My wife ordered Duck Breast and it was served cold and raw. We had to send it back to be cooked. This place we will never go back to. We paid up and we're happy to leave for good.More

This is without doubt our favourite restaurant in Canberra. We have enjoyed a lot of good ones but Rubicon excels in food and service with a nice quiet ambience. Not in one of the hot spots of Canberra but certainly worth the effort to find...it and enjoy everything it offers. The Menu offers a good variety and the food is perfectly cooked and presented…. With a flourish. Wine list is extensive and covers the best regions in the world. We have been before and will be back. Rubicon is a must for us. Bookings are a must.More

WE ate here with friends from Sydney and we all enjoyed our meals and the friendly and very helpful service. This restaurant is not cheap, but it is definitely worth it. It is excellent for a special celebration or joining special friends.

We booked Rubicon as a special treat for my daughter’s 21st. It was absolutely perfect. We had the 5 course degustation menu and every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The wait staff were engaging, polite and efficient. There was even a glass of champagne...and small birthday cake my daughter. My family are still talking about our beautiful evening at Rubicon. Thank you.More

The meals where good, however just getting back from NZ where we experienced 5 star and magnificent meals and at reasonable prices. I found this to be over priced for what we had. Especially the wine list knowing the cellar door prices and what they...charged was exorbitant by about 300% as the price for meals. Yes profit is not a dirty word but extortion is, just because it’s Canberra it’s no reason to rip people off,More

A slightly hidden approach opens into a series of rooms with a somewhat Middle Eastern feeling, but in fact a nice modern Australian menu, and a very extensive wine list. The Langlois sparkling was excellent. Prompt and attentive service, both knowledgeable and with a sense...of humour. Very good food, up there with the best that could be found in inner Sydney. An amazing find, and already recommended to friends travelling this way.More

We visited for my husband and son's birthdays. The atmosphere was lovely, the food excellent and the service was warm & friendly. My husband wears hearing aids and it was great for him to be able to hold a normal conversation without noise interference. The...seating is comfortable with plenty of space between tables. We had a very enjoyable night and I would recommend Rubicon to anyone looking for a more fine dinning experience. We will definitely return.More

A lovely setting with a comfortable, spacious and quiet room. Food however was average, except for the steamed vegetables side which was excellent. Entrees were small servings with underwhelming natural flavours and were over salted. Mains were solid, but again average considering this is supposed...to be a higher end restaurant. If however you want a large choice in good wines, the 32 page wine list will impress. Prices are reasonable. Service is good. Overall, a good experience, but not because of the food.More

We found the food, wine selection and service to be excellent. Costs commensurate with the quality of all three. Not a large menu but one that would provide something for most tastes. Smaller selection usually means better preparation and flavours. At the completion of our...meal, we considered the Duck may have been slightly over salted, (Capers?) but there were none of the usual effects of an over salted meal, ie thirst. The vegetable accompaniments really enhanced the taste of the meat. The zucchini flowers (entrees) were exceptional. The most noticeable consideration were the background sounds - or lack of them. The acoustics were amazing. A table conversation could be conducted at normal volumes and everybody hearing. No loud conversations from other tables were discernible. The sound deadening fit out exceptional. All in all a very pleasant evening.More

The food was good but the duck was too salty and the beef too large. Perhaps the beef could be reduced to 200 gms and reduce the price.. I don't believe in a restaurant like this you should be asked to pay $4.00 for one...slice of bread. Service was too efficient. Our waiter was not warm or personal. The restaurant seemed to be driven from the kitchen not the front of house so this misses the chance of personalising the experience for guests.More
