A lovely French restaurant. Superb food, staff & wine. Exceeded all expectations-one of the best French restaurants we have been too…including restaurants we have been to in France itself. Highly recommend.

We got through the 7-course degustation menu - just! Excellent service, excellent food, excellent wine matching. The stand out dish was the caramelised onion consommé, followed by the Jindabyne rainbow trout. The restaurant was a bit hard to locate for us as visitors to Canberra,...but once you step through the door you are met with a lovely decor - with a few too many curtains.😉More
Our dinner at Les Bistronomes was truly a treat, a perfect blend of excellent food and great service. The dishes were crafted with creativity and passion, combining traditional elements with fresh, innovative touches. A standout was the Beef Wellington, tender, full of flavours, and simply...delicious and the Soup of Day , oh my Just divine ! The staff were very attentive and friendly, always ready to assist and offer advice about the menu. Their enthusiasm added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. Thanks!More
We went with two friends for my husband's birthday -- ordered the $120 set menu and the matching $120 wines. Save for one course which none of us terribly liked everything was fantastic. The bread and butter were standout. The rillettes, Boursin, and duck liver...parfait were excellent starters and we could have made an entire meal out of just these. The French onion soup was out of this world and the accompanying onion tart was outstanding (and I am not an onion tart fan usually). The leek ash salmon was VERY good. The beef cheek bourguignon was incredibly tasty and surprisingly light considering the dish and the ingredients. The palate cleanser was a standout course as well. Dessert (chocolate tart) was very good -- though I didn't finish mine as the rich ingredients would have kept me awake later (but my dining companions happily finished off my leftovers!) Overall, an amazing night out with good friends and great food. The staff without exception were friendly, professional, and attentive.More
Seeking to impress a visitor from WA, I took them to lunch here on Friday. Needless to say, they were impressed. From the authentic French interiors to the delightful service, it was a pleasurable experience. We had a three course lunch, and were very satisfied...with the fine detail of the presentation of every dish. Tiny micro herbs and flowers were used to their best effect. Gorgeous.More
Beautiful meal and terrific service. The a la carte menu is a good choice - great variety and good-sized portions. The chateaubriand was perfectly cooked and to be recommended. I chose cheese for dessert but by that stage of the meal, couldn’t do it justice....I was too full!More
this is definitely one of Canberra's best restaurants.Traditional French cuisine at its very best.Worth the trip to Campbell.
The quality was not consistent. Amuse- bouche were beautiful, as was the mushroom cappuccino. The salmon was beautifully cooked, but a little overwhelmed by citrus. My salmon had a full bone, and a small sliver of bone. The terrine was lovely, as was the lamb...(although I had a small piece of bone in that too). The palate cleanser was very strongly flavoured, with a strongly alcohol foam accompanying. Dessert was very disappointing. The coconut sorbet was delicious, but the chili explosion was unpleasant, and very large to have to go into your mouth intact. The souffle was well executed, but far too sweet (even for a sugar-phile like myself). Our water glasses were often empty, and waiting - including after a wine top-up. Not returning, sadly.More
Great place to entertain business guest or a romantic dinner. Excellent food and service, with great choice of wines. The best place in Canberra. Thanks to the friendly staff
We had three courses from the à la carte menu. Bread and an amuse bouche was complimentary. Each dish was delicious. Service was friendly and professional.
This was our first visit to the restaurant. We had the 6-course degustation. From the first mouthful of the amuse bouche, we were in heaven! Every dish was beautifully crafted and presented, and delicious! The staff were friendly and professional and the ambience was lovely....So unexpected in its location. We'll definitely be back!More
Les Bistronomes was doing two sittings for New Years Eve and we opted for the second sitting and were glad we did. Still home by midnight, but no rush, great service and brilliant food and wine. It was a set menu for food with encouragement...to mention allergies and intolerances which were properly catered for. We also opted for matching wines and the staff did a brilliant job of matching wines to our food including when I received different food due to my allergies.More
Had two great meals here. Dessert to die for. My only suggestion would be some more creative vegetarian food. Service great first visit, a little slow second. Keep up the good work!
Beautiful hidden gem. Don’t be put off by the suburban location. Amazing French cuisine in a nice stylish setting, and the most charming service. We were a group of 5 and chose the 6-course degustation menu. Amazing value! Every single course was superb - gorgeous...presentation and beautiful flavour. The duck liver pate was a piece of art. And the dessert soufflé was so incredibly delicious! Wow. Perfect way to round out the meal. Excellent wine list too, and very reasonably priced too. We had a delicious French rosè which was so good. Highly recommend.More
What a fabulous meal! We hadn’t been to Les Bistronomes before, but next time we’re in Canberra we will certainly return. We had the 3-course meal and enjoyed every bite. Our chateaubriand was cooked perfectly. A highlight was the palate cleanser of mandarin sorbet with...vodka foam, shaped to look like a bee. The service was impeccable, with pleasant, knowledgeable staff. There were a good number of waiters, so even though the restaurant was busy on a Thursday night, the service never lagged. What a wonderful experienceMore
