A group of 5 seniors had booked for a Wednesday night dinner. One of us had checked the web site and found out that BYOG was possible at $10 per bottle corkage, which seemed reasonable. We arrived on time at 7pm -- place was buzzing...-- a good sign. After about 10 minutes we opened 2 bottles (one red and one white). The red was an aged very expensive wine, to be then told by the waitress that BYOG was not encouraged and that it is $30 per bottle -- so we were not very happy. Chef/Manager came out and after some discussion agreed with us that some info on their web site (including $10 per BYO bottle) was some years out of date.
Thankfully, an acceptable solution was negotiated.
The meal was really excellent -- we selected one of their many banquet options, and the wait staff were great.
So be careful, I suggest you do not take your own grog, but also suggest the restaurant make their alcohol preferences more obvious on their web site to save any future issues.More
