Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went with my partner, our kids and two other family members and we could not have been happier. The booking system was friendly and responsive via sms. They were super accommodating even when I changed the requirements just a few hours before our booking....The good was delicious and there was a huge variety. The atmosphere was fancy enough to make it feel special but friendly enough to keep it family friendly. A perfect venue Highly recommend!More

We had a fantastic night out with excellent service and delicious traditional food with generous helpings. The teriyaki eel was superb as was the pescatarian banquet with fresh sashimi and a great Bento box.

This restaurant is consistently outstanding. The quality of food is first rate and the presentation is artful. In particular, the seafood is so fresh that you would think that you were dining next to a fishing port. Service is always very good and responsive. As...an added bonus, the wine--so unusual in an Asian restaurant--is quality and fairly priced. This would have to be one of the best restaurants in Canberra--not silver service fancy but quality and good value.More

We are in Canberra? The best thing I can say about this place is you forget you are in Canberra the minute you walk through the door! Having been to Tokyo a few times... this place takes you back. The set up.. staff .. food....The whole place makes you think you are overseas having a meal. A gem of a placeMore

A group of 5 seniors had booked for a Wednesday night dinner. One of us had checked the web site and found out that BYOG was possible at $10 per bottle corkage, which seemed reasonable. We arrived on time at 7pm -- place was buzzing...-- a good sign. After about 10 minutes we opened 2 bottles (one red and one white). The red was an aged very expensive wine, to be then told by the waitress that BYOG was not encouraged and that it is $30 per bottle -- so we were not very happy. Chef/Manager came out and after some discussion agreed with us that some info on their web site (including $10 per BYO bottle) was some years out of date. Thankfully, an acceptable solution was negotiated. The meal was really excellent -- we selected one of their many banquet options, and the wait staff were great. So be careful, I suggest you do not take your own grog, but also suggest the restaurant make their alcohol preferences more obvious on their web site to save any future issues.More

We were looking forward to experience the best Japanese Restaurant in Canberra, but somewhat were disappointed. The interior feels a bit rough and ready, we opted for the top end banquet, which lacked the crispness we expected from Japanese cuisine. There is easy parking, but...note not free….which is a very Canberra thing.More

We are quite disappointed with the Wagyu beef banquet set that we have this evening. It should not name itself as fine dining because it is foodcourt standard. Everything is prepared long hours beforehand. The tempura is not crunchy. The beef is not wagyu and...is tasteless. The teriyaki chicken is way too sweet and lots of soy sauce is added. I hope the owner can improve the cook’s cooking. But if anyone don’t mind eating unauthentic Japanese meals can continue to go.More

Another visit to Iori did not disappoint: it is as good as before lockdown. The food was ultra fresh, delicious and well-prepared. The service is warm without being intrusive; although I do miss the young man with long hair from years back! Some people have...alluded to the prices here. True, this is not an inexpensive restaurant; and nor should it be given the high quality of its Australian seafood. If people want cheap ‘Japanese’, they might be more comfortable eating at the myriad ‘Japanese’ restaurants—run by non-Japanese—in Dickson and shopping malls. For my part, I am pleased to pay for quality fare at Iori.More

Where we live in regional NSW, there are no Japanese restaurants, so when we travel we seek them out. We were very glad we chose Iori and enjoyed our first night so much we booked again so we could try different dishes. First night we...had Shabu Shabu banquet (savoury version) - not our usual choice but generous and delicious. Second night we both had Nasu Dengaku - our favourite eggplant dish, then Tempura with suitably light crispy batter. The staff were attentive and helpful and it was fascinating to watch the efficient and seamless process from order to delivery. It might be fine dining, but the atmosphere is traditional and casual. Early sitting limited time or choose the later sitting for a more leisurely pace.More
