Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely experience in this nice restaurant. Really a very good all-rounder. Nice cocktails, food was lovely and properly cooked (steaks were just right). Coffee and dessert also very enjoyable. Particularly impressed with the service. Both our initial waitress (unfortunately we didn’t get her name) and...the waiter Tim were very helpful, professional, patient and friendly. For example, after we finished our food my friend and I were still deep in conversation. Instead of rushing us out, Tim came back a number of times to helpfully refill our waters. He was very patient made no effort to rush us out. We were able to have a good talk and really appreciated that. Can definitely recommend you give it a try :).More

Great restaurant! Great food, so delicious that I wanted more but could not eat anymore. Nicely decorated with very attentive and professional waiting staff that makes the visit a lot more pleasant, but the food is glorious! It was heaven on earth! For mains, we...had the Rangers Valley waygu strip loin (times two), the comfit duck leg, the lamb cutlets (times two), for entrées salmon carpaccio, zucchini and fetta cheese fritters, Balmain bug, and duck ravioli and for desserts we had sekerpare (times two), chocolate mouse cake, passion fruit cheesecake, and a crème Brulée. We had a selection of cocktails that were so delicious and flavoursome and for the mains a good bottle of the 2017 Four Winds Shiraz that was the perfect match for the strip loin steaks! Parking can be an issue but if you walk a bit the food, the atmosphere and the service will make you forget about that in no time. The price is worth the visit and I have no complaints but compliments for the whole crew running the restaurant, many thanks for everything!More

Visiting here from Sydney. Wanted to have a beautiful experience in Canberra. The food was amazing. Nothing to fault. Entrees of Moreton Bay bugs and Duck Ravioli was delicious. Mains outstanding. Wine selection excellent Service was unfriendly and stand offish. Who walks into an upmarket...restaurant to be pointed to their table and not escorted? Small thing but first impressions count. No help with menu, cold attitude and no small talk. Was intending on ordering pre dinner champagne but thought better of it. If you don’t mind unfriendly attitude but excellent food then it’s ok.More

For me, the banquet is the best food & best value in Canb - a great range of perfectly cooked & presented dishes & ambience++

Great service and delicious food. We got the banquet menu, where every dish was great. The staff were super welcoming and friendly - very professional and knew their stuff. The food and wine came quickly, and were all very tasty.

Completely contrary to all the recent reviews, we had an excellent experience. The room is divided into relatively small areas that add to the intimacy and ensure you don't get to hear loud patrons. The decor is suitably subdued, so don't expect loud music and...stimulating colours. Others have complained that the menu doesn't change - this one of the Restaurant's strengths. It is clearly not chasing the "next big new thing" for those with poor attention spans. The portions are bigger than what you might have to accept elsewhere. My wife had three mushrooms for an entree - it would have been large enough for a main. My main was two portions of duck - superbly cooked and the best I've had for a long time. My wife's fish was exactly what she appreciated. As I wrote in 2016 - a must try in the desserts is the SEKERPARE, which is Almond, Semolina pastry soaked with honey syrup, served with Tahini Helva & Cardomon icecream. Outstanding - still. The place was full in the early evening, so that says a lot about the consistency of place. Service was attentive and appropriate. One good sign was that the chef (from Istanbul) was greeting customers by name on their way out. Highly recommended.More

Food OK, service sterile to icy. We went for dinner, the food as per menu, very tasty, somewhere between pub and fine dining in quality. BUT, I don't whether they are understaffed on the floor or what, but the service was brusque, sterile, icy, and...perhaps the least interactive I have experienced in years. It spoiled the evening experience. A busy yet quite noisy place.More

Drab and dated decor, prompt but impersonal wait staff, every good food. We were expecting a great dining experience to celebrate my wife's birthday. Unfortunately, despite the food the other elements weren't there. We gained the impression they couldn't get us through the meal quickly...enough. We won't be returning.More

Lovely dining experience with exceptional service and great food. Generous main of duck confit and side of kipfler potatoes. Good wine selection including local offerings at reasonable prices. Ambience was spot on.

We recently found ourselves heading back to Pomegranate - having insisted a few years ago that it was over-rated and that we wouldn't rush back. And nothing's changed. To be fair, the atmosphere is good and the service was pretty good. But from a food...perspective, the menu never changes and there is never the hint of a special. From the same menu that has existed for years, we ordered the duck and the spatchcock and, even though some people might say "what's the problem?", we both agreed there was just too much duck (two Marylands) and spatchcock, and not enough else not he plate to share with the protein. Sorry - but still overrated in a city with so many good dining options.More

As recent visitors to Canberra we found our favourite restaurant had closed, so decided on Pomegranate after reading the reviews. It did not disappoint & we had a wonderful evening. Service was efficient & friendly, food was delicious ( particularly duck ravioli ) & lovely...ambiance . A new favourite when visiting Canberra…highly recommended.More

We have reviewed this restaurant previously, was surprised at the scarce recent reviews so decided to post. Have eaten at the restaurant many times over the years: consistency has been the key to their success. So too last night, a lovely meal across all the...dishes. We opted for the banquet which was a very reasonable $79. The dips, zucchini puffs and prawn entrees were standouts. In the means the fish and chicken were particularly good. The wine list is very reasonably priced, we had a Spanish Tempranillo for $48 a bottle. A nice change from the offerings in other wine lists where similar quality wines are priced at $75+. Table service was a little clunky, we had to request water glasses to be refilled throughout the meal but it was a busy service and it did not detract from a very enjoyable evening. Happy to report the consistent high quality dining continues.More

A consistently exceptional restaurant in terms of its ambience, service and particularly food. The whole Pomegranate experience is first class yet laid back leaving you relaxed and pampered while treated to food readily comparable to the very best Sydney or Melbourne restaurants. We've been here...several times and it's always a great experience.More
