Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A friend recommended this place, and my partner and I fell in love! As others have mentioned, the inside is filled with cute little Polish items, the food is beautiful and authentic, and the range of Polish beers are amazing! The staff, especially at the bar, are so knowledgeable and passionate, it was such a pleasure to be here. The people who come to this place range from uni students, to families, to couples...It is awesome. I Love love LOVE this place.

We had a lovely night. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We were having a family gathering and were kindly given a private room, complete with high chair and kid toys for the littlies. We struggled to decide what we wanted so we tried savory pierogies, goulasch (a favorite), hunter stew, schnitzel, cabbage rolls, cheese cake, pav and sweet pierogies. Everything was yum. Just sad we didn't manage to time it with a band night.

This club's small rooms get a lot of people even during the week and get very noisy. My parents mistakenly thought today was pierogi & pint night and got four plates of pierogi. Didn't seem like a lot for the price - the mains I saw seemed better value. The pierogi were ok, nicely chewy and well packed, but seemed blander than I've had elsewhere - it was hard to tell the ten different types apart. There's a good selection of Polish beer in bottles at prices that seem pretty good given the sizes and alcohol content.

A very big disappointment to me. I was there for the first time and will be my last. This was going to be celebration of my wedding anniversary with my husband. I am Polish, so I know how the food should test, look and cook properly. Unfortunately Zurek was more like water than this type of soup. No potatoes to see, few thin slices of carrots , 2 little slices of some sort of sausage, testless and half of egg. This soup had completely no typical smell of zurek. And the bread was very old, probably at least 4 days old, stale. For that soup I had to pay $16. As a second dish I order Bigos, arrived to the table completely cold. I had to call the cook and show her this. She took it away and after few minutes brought back new plate, but still the bigos was only lukewarm. Again the same stale bread was served with it. Bigos should be piping hot. Test of it was ok, but not fantastic. $28 for this was a bit too pricy. Forget to have any deserts. Little piece of cheese cake or apple slice for $14 is definitely too much. We won't recommend this restaurant to my friends.

Its a eat early, eat quick, and get out sort of place. Tasty, but not dinning. Apparently according to those in the know its very polish in approach.

The building is designed by the Italian architect Enrico Taglietti. Indeed, it could do with a coat of paint inside and outside. The dining room is adorned by a mish mash of 1970s furniture - vinyl chairs and laminex top tables - with hanging macrame pot plants, a shaggy burnt orange blanket thing, and kitschy Polish paintings and photographs (is that the Polish Pope over there)? But crowded into this daggy interior is a bunch of appreciative vocal restaurant goers - some in their black metallic t-shirts here for the live act next door, some obviously nerdy uni students, and some like me and my group ... all just wanting a bit of Polonia for dinner. My favourite - the veal schnitzel - is consistently good, and my friends attest to the pierogi, including the vegetarian perogi. Wash it all down with some Polish beer, or even vodka! If you have a chance get to the morning market which starts around 11am and has a queue that would make Poles proud. There you can pick up all sorts of Polish wares including .... Polish poppy seed cake, cheese cake and paczki (Polish donuts).

Another great evening in the White Eagle. Great food and drinks from the bar. Its such a welcoming place in the cold of the Canberra night. Probably make a booking if coming in a group as the place goes off. And rocks!!!

Babcia is Polish for grandma. The furniture is an assortment of tables and chairs. Probably brought in by members when they no longer needed them. The walls are adorned with Polish artworks. Timber, ceramic, tapestries, etc. The venue is a number of rooms. One room is a library. It is really like going to Babcia’s place for dinner. Meals are home style. Rustic and tasty. All made in house from scratch. The bar has more beer varieties than one could drink in a month of Sunday’s. And eclectic. Beers one does not see in a bottle shop. Staff are super accommodating. 6 stars out of 5

Visited twice now, mainly for dinner at the Polo Restaurant and drink from the bar. One night was for the Wednesday night special of tasty pierogi (they have a good and interesting variety of these specialty dumplings with appropriate toppings) and drink. Place was popular, often with a queue to place an order. Order and pay at food counter where you receive a buzzer. Help yourself to cutlery etc. and go to the bar for drinks. Quite basic but fun. Eclectic décor with Polish culture theme. On second visit the stuffed cabbage leaves were good and the veal schnitzel pretty standard. Was quite noisy in the main bar area as it was a Saturday night after footy. Better in the main dining room area for conversation over a meal.

What the? Here I am in front of my favourite Polo dish of veal schnitzel and a bottle of unpronounceable Polish beer surrounded by a massive crowd of restaurant goers. My hidden gem is no longer! The secret is out! Finished off my meal with an excellent honey and ginger cake in apple compot and fresh cream. Well done Polo!

Country of Study for CWA this year Poland and in Canberra for Seminar - where to eat? Delightful small club with great food and a well stocked bar - dumplings of course and quite a choice with some in-house specials. Delicious.

Visited with the kids for dinner. Relaxed friendly vibe, attentive service and we were treated to a great value feast with all meals interesting and tasty. A real homemade, down to earth dining experience that’s hard to find. Great to sample a unique cuisine that isn’t found everywhere, unlike the staple Aussie or Asian or pub food places that are on every corner in every town or city. A great night out overall!

The food here is amazing. We had the cabbage rolls & schnitzel with mash & sauerkraut, and pierogi for starters. Had the donuts for dessert. All washed down with different Polish lagers & pilsners, this place was heaven. Very basic decor, almost old fashioned, but adds to the mood. The pork knuckle looks amazing but you need to order it in advance which we didn't know about. Ah well, next time we will
