Absolutely lovely. A quiet Sunday night chilling with friends from the UK. Amazing food and service. Every course was explained to us and it was all lovely. I had the pumpkin ravioli and it was the best I have ever hard. My pepper steak was...perfect with a sauce if not a little rich. Wonderful experience and will return.More

The food and service were exceptional, just perfect for a beautiful night out in Canberra. The creme caramel was a delicious finish to the meal,

Went to Otis first time. Wanted to try the $135 degustation offer. However since one person in the party does not eat beef we asked the staff what replacement dishes the chef would offer. The staff member didn’t return back with an answer so we...ordered the three course meal instead. Food was excellent- scallops, pepper steak and chocolate tart. Would go back just for the tart - so good. There was also delays in the staff filling glasses for water and taking further orders. For example we would have ordered some more wine but gave up since we could not attract the attention of staff. In summary excellent food. Room for improvement in looking after patrons on the tables.More

Visiting friends in Canberra and came here for dinner - had the three courses with paired wines - I thought it was really great value - interesting well executed menu options paired with mostly local wines. Service was great with particular credit to the sommelier...who was very knowledgeable but also really relaxed enough that it didn’t feel intimating being a group that doesn’t have an massive knowledge of wine (despite liking to drink it).I did find an apple based dessert I had a bit confused in concept and flavor but the rest of the dishes were pretty pitch perfect - will definitely be backMore

The food was outstanding. We had the three course set menu however the diabetic in our group was disappointed that the desserts were so sweet and there was no alternative. The pepper steak melted in your mouth. The wines however are outrageously priced. We buy...wines from many places and know the online prices. The wines at Otis are marked up by an extraordinary amount. Hence we only bought one wine by the glass and not a bottle or two as we usually would. That was disappointing!More

Overall. We enjoyed the 3 course degustation menu for dinner. The $50 deposit per head was deducted from my credit card at the time of booking and we obtained a confirmation receipt prior to dining. Entrée: The scallops and kangaroo tataki were delicious. Main course:...We can recommend the roast duck. Dessert. The crème caramel and poached apple were both excellent. Ambience: Subdued lighting, smooth wood panelling on the wall, the old bar adds extra character. Wine pairing. One of our group had the wine pairing and was delighted by it. Wait staff: Friendly, helpful, but disorganised, for example, the drinks for the paired tasting arrived some time after the first course. The wait staff are energetic and busy but an experienced maître d' might more effectively focus their energy into an en pointe wait service. Toilets: Male and female, the male restroom is well ventilated, assisted by a missing window pane. Comfort: A wet night but we were warm and comfortable inside.More

We attend the restaurant with high hopes, we were paying to have the degustation menu & paired wines. Whilst we are aware that the portions are not meant to be big, we found the portions a bit small. we have been to other degustations &...found the portions good. The time between courses was not good either, I accept that they were busy with a full restaurant but by the time we got the food to match the wine the wine was drank. The wine portions were not great either, again I realise it is only a tasting but on occasions it was not a good sample. Would we go back, no !More

I’d heard the food was good and it really was. The scallops for entree were very tender and perfectly cooked in a sauce that I could have bathed in, it was so tasty. For main I had the Cowra lamb rump which was outstanding. There...was this smoky aspect to it that was magical. Tender and perfectly cooked. My wife had the pepper steak and it too was outstanding. Tender, full of flavor without assaulting your taste buds. The seasonal vegetables that came with it were simple yet brilliant. The portions of all were good. I commented to my wife that they should allow you to select two entrees instead of a dessert. That was before the dessert came. We had a marquis and a baviour (sic). They were just awesome. And certainly earned their spot on the menu. The wine selection was great, as was the service. The ambiance was lower key than other fine dining places I’ve eaten at but it was really pleasant and relaxed. The staff were good too, with chef Damian Brabender a constant positive and friendly presence amongst the diners. I totally recommend Otis dining hall. It was just awesome.More

It started with great service and just got better. The lamb back strap with caramelized carrot was the best I have ever had. The scallops were faultless and you could cut the steak with a butter knife. The wine list was extensive although suffering a...little from price creep. Only fault was that noise travels with so much timber. Having two large groups did not help.More

Another faultless dining experience at OTIS. The quality produce and attention to detail is a telling feature. The staff are very attentive and informative across the food and drink menus and are warmly efficient, something that is most welcome. James, in particular, is a credit...to the restaurant and the industry itself, with a fine command of local wines too. James also has a depth of experience and a broad knowledge that is admirable and endearing. The food is some of the best I have experienced and the matching wines are impressive. Compliments to the chef indeed and in no doubt we will return to OTIS again and again.More

4 people and we all had a different entree, main and dessert...we all had a taste of each other's and still couldn't decide who's was the best! Again, James was fantastic helping us choose the ideal wines to go with every dish.

Both. Can get busy but you can get a corner table or nook around near the front door which is quiet and cosy. Light music, nice light, not echoey like other eateries.
