Personal circumstances meant that we hadn't been to our favourite restaurant in many months. Our return - with a friend - showed us that Daana has become even better - if that's possible. The dishes from Bihar - where we once ran a school for...150 poor children in Parariya - were a revelation. As usual, Sanjay was the perfect host, aided by his able staff. He patiently dealt the dietary needs of our friend, who was included included at the last minute. We will be back, of course.More

Once again Daana provided a cheery, vibrant, warm, and relaxed atmosphere with delicious cuisine well above average standards. Always a delight to try the menu which varies and changes keeping the experience new each time. Excellent dietary requirement care. Thanks again Daana.

We had a lovely dinner with friends. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was very nice. Would recommend the banquet, which was very generous for four people.

We enjoyed the most amazing , spicy , tender lamb cutlets and succulent Tasmanian scallops for starters. And our mains were lamb shanks which the flavoursome lamb just fell off the bone, spicy goat curry. And delicious flatbread to soak up the wonderful curry sauce....The service was fantastic. We have already booked to go back.More

Booked on line, very easily. Was able to change numbers attending by phone also very easily. We really appreciated the menu which was clear and very informative. The food was served quite quickly and was suitably hot and very delicious. The serves were just right...for us and we were able to get a doggy bag for leftovers. Limited choice of wines, but the one Sauvignon Blanc was very drinkable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will return.More

Taking my food trail journey ahead..next on my list is Daana😍 based in Curtin, Canberra. I am sure you would have seen lot of my food reviews on North Indian cusines covered recently.. So this one is specially covering the Taste of South India..🤩 This...resturant have lovely colourful ambience depicting Indian culture and stories around it. Owners and staff members were super friendly. It was quite evident they are hear to bring the best to serve and with full passion🤗 Inframe - Starters - Thathukada Kori ‘Aval Roast'(chicken dish), and for mains - Allapuzha Thengapal Manga Curry- Prawns, basically Kerala style tangy coconut milk and green mango curry with Prawns (I just loved this dish❤️) and Daana's signature Malabar Chicken along with Parotta n mini Uthapam and Ghee rice. Along with nimbu paani and masala chaas on sides for drinks and Papadums. For Desserts we had Sahi Tukda, Kanoli and Payasam.. payasam is a sweetened pudding made with either milk or coconut milk. It was yummmm🤤 In one word if i have to specify A-M-A-Z-I-N-G😍 it surely a lovely place to explore and try some cuisine! Plus during some festival seasons they do some special cuisine.. They call it Daana Bhoj. Pls check their website for more details. Cant wait to one such occasion toward end of this month (Vishu Sadya), where food will be served on Banana leaf an authentic way of Kerela styling of eating.. specially on some occasions with serveral delicacies 💚More

Dined at Daana last night and couldn’t be more pleased with the exceptional service we received. The food is a modern take on Indian dishes and if you’re unsure, the dishes are fully explained in their menu. Standout dishes were the entree of lamb cutlets...and the spicy chicken mains. We’ll be back.More

We decided to have dinner here as the restaurant came highly recommended. However, the owner was quite rude to us, and while knowing that we were struggling to make up our minds (as it was our first time and the menu was quite large), they...didn't help us but kept rushing us. The food was good, but not as great as the hype made it out to be. Should clarify that the waiting staff was very patient and lovely. It was actually the owner who was not very good at customer service.More

Daana has a really interesting menu combing tradition Indian food with native Australian ingredients. Many of the dishes were thins I have never seen on other Indian restaurant menus. Everything we chose was fantastic, and the service was excellent. The tables are also a generous...size which is both comfortable and good in time of COVID. Definitely one of the most delightful restaurants in Canberra.More

Using Australian indigenous ingredients in many dishes and the wonderful harmony of flavours and tastes expand in the mouth. Particularly, starters and desserts we had was beautifully presented, and each element on the plates delicately made. We had great time and experience in this restaurant.

I enjoyed the bhoj/thaali experience. Daana has bit of a monopoly going in this area since no one else in Canberra does something like this - not that i mind because the hosts are lovely and the food is well researched and authentic. With the...food itself - minor considerations, like the thepla being wayyy too dry and the lapsi portion quite small with not as much ghee as is traditionally used. I would also recommend pairing a traditional drink with the bhoj going ahead like lassis, aam panna or in the case of the gujarati bhoj - a chaas or buttermilk drink. I would also recommend adding some plain rotis or puri to the bhoj because on cannot eat 6 curries with one thepla and some rice. People say the price is steep however i feel it is justified and will be even more so with the above suggestions. It is a price you pay for the authenticity and the unlimited ordering - totally worth it. Lastly apart from the food i would say the wait staff could be better trained in placing the food and the way they speak to the customers. Thankfully Mr. Daana coming to speak to us and really being so polite and gracious made out evening very memorable.More
