Daana is a beautifully run restaurant. Food is traditional! You won't find Butter Chicken etc here. You find exquisite dishes direct from regional India. The owners/chefs Sunita and Sunjay are lovely and come out to explain the dishes, have a chat and make you feel at home.
Couldn't recommend this place more!

I attended on the 20 Mar with some friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed the South Indian Heritage Trail menu.
Not only was the food excellent (and plenty for us all), but the staff treated us to stories about the history and tradition of each dish as it was being served.
I thoroughly recommend.

We booked online and on arrival were seated immediately at 6.30pm. We got drinks and entrees quickly. However our mains, clearing plates, getting takeaway containers and paying were really delayed. Due to only two floor staff making drinks, taking orders, bringing food and clearing.
Also some confusion as we ordered the 2 course banquet but we received desserts but no tea/coffee.
Overall most of the food was really tasty. Entrees and the chickpea curry were highlights!

We took visitors there because of all the good reviews and were embarrassed by how disappointing it was. We enjoy Indian food so were expecting something special. Unfortunately, the "lamb" was just fat and gristle. A different vegetable dish was substituted for the advertised one and was mostly sauce. The roti was too thick and doughy, we couldn't eat it. And the beer was flat. Friendly service though and the manager graciously refunded some of the (expensive) cost after we told him that at least one dish was inedible.

Yes we had a bad night.. our first day of the new menu. .. regarding the meat toughness , We took the matter with our supplier and corrected action was take, and as of now the same dish has become our best seller. We take corrective actions quick and always ready to improve. We look forward to serving you soon.

My partner and I visited Daana after learning they have a new menu. The choices on offer were all tempting - this is no ordinary restaurant serving butter chicken! Sanjay offered to choose an entree and two mains for us, and his selections (lamb cutlets followed by Spatchcock in a spicy tomato based sauce and Paneer cottage cheese in a macadamia sauce) offered great variety and balance. They were all exquisite, the kind of food that simply makes you smile. Looking forward to visiting again!

Daana’s offers something a little different to the standard Indian cuisine. With a menu derived from the south east regions of India, we got to experience new tastes combined with excellent service. Well worth a visit and will certainly be returning.

We enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Daana recently and have to say the food was amazing. It encompassed the traditional flavours you expect of Indian food, and yet the addition of Australian native food lent an inventive and interesting quality. The range of vegan food was impressive and the flavours were light yet with a depth of flavour. The service by Sanjay and Bishnu was excellent and it is easy to see that Sunita and Sanjay have a passion for food and also for providing people with a wonderful experience. We will definitely go again.

Ate there last night after a friend's recommendation. As you enter there is a warm feeling about the restaurant with it's very bright wall decorations.
We received a friendly greeting and were looked after well by the waiters one of whom was the co owner Sanjay.
We thoroughly enjoyed and shared an entree of Veggie Kempu Trio, mains of chicken Biryani and Military Hotel Lamb"Chaap "Kari with a side of Garlic Paratha { as recommended by Sanjay}
We followed with desserts of Anjeer Ki Kulfi and Chitoti with Badam Kesari Milk both of which were delicious.
We look forward to coming again soon.

We had a delicious meal at Daana with impeccable service. It is unusual to get this combination in Canberra so what a delightful surprise. Not only were we welcomed as if we were old friends (this was our first visit but definitely not our last) and the dietary requirements of one of our guests were effortlessly met. Our questions were answered in a friendly manner and the sauces that accompanied the Masala Dosa explained. It was obvious that Sanjay and Sunita are justifiably proud of their cuisine and want to bring their guests along on a culinary journey. This is definitely not your "ordinary" Indian and the whole experience was excellent and we look forward to returning.

We are a couple who visited Friday 29 Jan and ate "al la carte". We took an early (5:30) booking as most other slots already booked.
Rather than the usual dishes found at most Indian restaurants, the menu at Daana was an interesting mix of traditional dishes and more creative ones that we had not previously tried. The staff were attentive but descreet and clearly wanted you to enjoy the meal and the experience.
Against a background of having lived in India and eaten at Indian restaurants in many parts of the world we found Daana to be a standout Indian restaurant. We plan to come again soon.

Where else would we take friends for a special occasion than Daana?
The food is always delicious; and the service is friendly and very good. Proper authentic Indian food.
Daana do not take tips. Rather you can leave money in a box marked for a specific charity if you are happy with your meal and service. The charities are rotated. I really like this idea.
When we dine out, it's invariably at Daana.

We were visiting from Adelaide where most of the Indian restaurants feature North Indian fare. Our son recommended this restaurant after reading online reviews and we were glad we went. It is in a very unassuming building in the suburb of Curtin and you will need a car or taxi to get there. The railway goat curry we had was excellent as was a daal dish. Once a week they do a Thali menu featuring a different region of India but you need to pre book this. Next time we visit Canberra we will return to try this - other tables had ordered it and it looked really good. The owners were onsite and very friendly and helpful.

This restaurant had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I had the weekly banquet and was not able to finish and asked for a takeaway container, which I could see on the counter next to my table. I usually get a takeaway container for most meals, and I have never been refused, even in fine dining restaurants for which this place cannot be called. They refused to give me one as they did not want to mix the food flavours. If I have paid for the food, after it leaves the kitchen, it is up to me how I eat it. They would rather throw the food out than let me have what I paid for due to their pride.
I saw the manager talking to a waiter about me and pointing to me which was extremely unprofessional. When I asked the waiter for a takeaway box as well, even for a single chicken leg that would not mix with other food, he said that the manager had told him to refuse. However, they packaged my dessert in takeaway boxes which means that they are able to give away takeaway boxes and this is not an OHS issue, they just refused to for the main meal.
I am extremely disappointed and shocked, I will not be coming here again and will be telling everyone to avoid this restaurant.

We are extremely disappointed to read such comments. Our Weekly Bhoj (for you Banquet) is a very special menu offering unlike any other menu in Australia. The menu consists of close to 15 dishes, including accompaniments and side dishes. And with all, you can eat offer. Sometimes, it can be bit much for some guests to finish. But one is ready for the entire experience at the time of booking. And it is mentioned very clearly that this Bhoj menu is Dine-in only.
You had nearly 6-8 bowls of very little food left over, and you wanted to mix it all up and take it home. If you have not realised, our team puts lots of effort into preparing each menu and as a professional chef, I refused to do so, and for your information, your menu was our 249th menu. One can only imagine what the food will taste with 8 dishes mixed together.
Once you were briefed and refused, you still tried asking other staff again. We have to brief staff about the policy so we maintain the standard, not unprofessionalism. We made a mistake in giving away the desserts as a takeaway.
We have no comments on other restaurants' takeaway policies. We wish you all the best and hope you respect other restaurants' hard work if not ours. Hope you are happy and satisfied with your efforts in posting such comments on social media without even thinking about your self-values and ethics.

Having driven past this restaurant for a number of years (it stands on it's own in suburban Curtin) we finally made a booking. There was easy and ample parking right in front, which was nice because when we visited there was inclement weather.
The restaurant has beautiful interior design/decoration. Unfortunately, it was quite cold for the entire evening and I felt a draft coming through the window we were seated next to (I wish so many of these places would turn up the heat since it unpleasant to dine in the cold.)
Now, onto the food. Our curries were EXCELLENT. However, I did not enjoy the bread or dosa quite as much. However, I don't think you can go wrong with the curries. They were sensational. Service was very good/attentive. We also ordered some delicious pickles and other accompainiments along with our meal as well as wine.
We will most certainly be coming back. This place is a gem.

We had a wonderful first time experience at Daana , amazing menu fusing traditional flavours from India and Australia.
Our meals were delicious and interesting.
The service was excellent.
No wonder Daana has won numerous awards, we would highly recommend Daana and we will be returning regularly.
