Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lantern Rooms is a favourite of ours for the simple reason it is consistently excellent. Last night (Saturday) was no exception. The busiest night of the week, a full restaurant, and nobody missed a beat. We selected from the "share" menu, for two people this...meant three entrees, two mains, and complimentary rice, vegetables and dessert. Our entrees were two dumpling dishes and Tom Yum prawns. For mains we selected the Chargrilled chicken satay with peanut sambal and, slow cooked Black Angus Rendang. Every dish was delicious: tasty, well seasoned and well presented. We had some regret for not ordering the barramundi as it looked fabulous and it received lots of positive comments from nearby tables. We resolved to order it next time. We were seated in the atrium area. It was light and airy and very comfortable. There was good separation of tables and we would ask to be seated here again. Staff were trademark "Chairman Group": trained to a very high standard, attentive, discrete, knowledgeable and there when you need them. This was one of the best meals we have had for ages and we would have given six stars if the rating system allowed it. Well done to the whole team. Two very happy customers.More

We had some international visitors with short notice and were looking for somewhere with great food and ambience, somewhere with easy parking. We hadn’t been here before and booked based on the reviews and the online menus..it was a great decision. The reviews really helped...so here’s another one. We drove ourselves, and found the parking super easy along Constitution Avenue. From the warm welcome at the door to the lovely warm room, the gentle ambience ( highly conducive to talking and catching up with old or new friends) and the delicious, fresh food we had the most enjoyable evening. The food was absolutely fabulous. We had the $90 per head set menu, and there were four of us. This allowed us to choose 3 out of 5 options for entree and main, with a single dessert option. There was something for everyone, and the hardest part was making the decision about what to have! One of our party had a walnut allergy and the staff and kitchen could not have been more genuinely careful about this. The service was excellent with friendly, knowledgeable and discreet serving staff, the wine and cocktail list good and the seating and lighting etc comfortable. Thoroughly recommend the seafood dumplings (entree) and whole barramundi in particular. The serving sizes are generous, so much so we struggled to finish! Dessert of white chocolate mousse with coconut flakes and passion fruit was the perfect end. Our friends were so impressed and enjoyed the food immensely. Recommend a visit, we will be back.More

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal - service and food was amazing. Just be wary of the staff’s attentiveness to keeping wine glass full, especially if you are driving. Highly recommend this venue.

Nice restaurant with great ambience but this is not truly a Malaysian Nyonya restaurant. I’ve been to a lot of Malaysian Nyonya and this does not come close. This restaurant boasts to be fusion, and I can confirm that the food is tasty for local...palates.More

Excellent and creative “Asian fusion cuisine” (not certain I have the right words to describe, all you need to know is that it is delicious) with refined meals and delicate flavours. Degustation menu comes with two mains that are normal size servings (good if you...are usually hungry after a typical degustation menu :) Service and staff are extraordinarily competent and friendly. Adrien is definitely passionate about what he does! Definitely recommend to the foodies out there.More

Great setting and atmosphere, fabulous staff and exceptional food. The manager Adrian is superb and has made all of our visits special. Special mention for both choices of dumplings and the whole fish. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Canberra 👍

We were originally going to be a group of 15 and Adrian was very helpful in organising a table for us on relatively short notice. The ambiance is very nice and the food excellent; we were all very impressed. Wine list is very good, as...was the service. Highly recommended.More

Elegant Asian fusion restaurant with Thai influences - highlights of the degustation were Tom Yum prawns and wonton dumplings in a tomato consume. Oysters were good but tamarind sauce perhaps a little overpowering. Tea smoked duck a little salty. A green curry of shellfish was...mixed - mussels and clams were fabulous as was the green curry sauce, but the medley was served on bed of soggy noodles - and the dish was served with rice as well. Beef cheek was super - but also served with rice - a bit too much rice. Desert sorbet was great, fig chocolate brownie was spongy and didn’t really work.More

The Lanterne Rooms is often cited as a great Canberra restaurant. I have enjoyed fabulous food at this restaurant in the past. Last night I was excited to go again and check out the Campbell venue. I have to say that I was disappointed. The...food was ok but not great and not particularly interesting. I felt it was more cafe style than high quality dining. This may be the result of offering only a set menu …. …regardless, it was not Lanterne Rooms I remember!More

An outstanding meal, beautifully balanced and superbly cooked. We opted for Banquet A. The meal began with three tasty starters: pork rolls, tom yum infused prawns and tea-smoked duck breast. Then followed tandoori chicken, Panang style beef short ribs with rice and stir fried green...beans. We finished with a refreshing rice custard dessert. The stand out dish was the smoked duck. Four delightfully presented portions of breast meat, the skin was dark and rendered of fat, the succulent meat was moist and smokey as promised in the description. It was one of the best duck dishes we have eaten. Superbly executed, a very sophisticated dish. The service staff were outstanding: attentive, knowledgeable about the food, engaged. A wonderful meal, can’t wait to go back. The Chairman group continues to set very high standards across their three restaurants (Chairman and Yip, Lantern Rooms, Lilotang).More

Had a banquet with 7 others and did not feel that there was enough interest in some dishes to justify the cost. Main barramundi fish dish lovely, but others a little pedestrian. Was a request for plant-based and seafood, but I do not think that...the chef would have been greatly excited by what was produced.More
