I had the pleasure of dining with these guys twice in one day last Fri as I'd taken my wife for lunch to one of our favourite places for her birthday. We've had the pleasure of dining there many times before and always enjoy the good food for reasonable prices with great service. THen when my colleagues and i couldn't find anywhere for an after work catch up due to covid restrictions on numbers, i though to call them as they do operate as a wine bar, and 5 of us went back that afternoon for a great time and they even let us stay a little longer. Thanks team

What a meal, when you are looking for creative comforting and real setting the mood food just do it, come here. Ambience 10 Food 10 Creativity 10 Price 10 - you really get what you pay for We both took the Chef’s tasting menu and it a real delight, you can almost imagine what was going through the chef’s and owners mind when they were bringing this sensation simple menu together. To give you a snippet, imagine eating real wagyu steak with the balance of fat, flavours and meat this is the place. Now imagine slicing your perfect cube like pieces with a butter knife. It was a pleasure dining with you tonight and you can be sure we will be back.

Great food with attentive friendly staff We had their tasting menu and 3 had matching wines. They interestingly opted for 3 full glasses rather than matching half glasses with each course but they were well chosen. All courses were delicious and well thought out from the scallops at the beginning to the Wagyu beef to finish. Staff were friendly and attentive but unobtrusive. We were surprised at the end to not have the ability to finish with a coffee

Thank you for your kind review Tony. We are glad you enjoyed your experience with us. We have found that most people that come to our restaurant enjoy a dessert wine at the end of the night over tea or coffee. Therefore it is not a viable expense for us to have a coffee machine, train staff on the use of it or continue to purchase fresh beans when they are not being used from week to week. During the day we are able to provide coffee from our neighbouring cafe. Thanks for visiting our restaurant. We hope to see you again soon. Kind regards Vincent

We gave written feedback directly to the restaurant to give them a chance to respond but after more than 2 weeks…no communication from them. So our review is below: Our recent dinner experience at Vincent was full of promise. The menu looked good and suited our 2 vegetarian guests. But not all was perfect. The service was awkward due to the design of the high tables where plates and glasses were being passed/filled in front of other guests. Not ideal nor polite service. Bought a bottle of champagne (and I mean champagne not sparkling wine) and each glass was poured “right up to the rim” of the glasses. I can only assume that the quicker the bottle became empty, the more we would buy. Poor etiquette!! As the tables were high, at one point the server’s armpit (she was wearing a sleeveless top) hovered over our opened bottle of wine. Extremely off-putting if nothing else! The scallop dish was delicious and had many interesting elements which complimented each other. 10 out of 10. The Peking duck, however, did not seem a complete dish. The duck was tasty but lacked associated flavours to take it to the same level as the scallops. Not great and quite bland! But Wagu beef…was delicious. Gnocchi, underwhelming in flavour, have had much better and the ‘creative’ elements did not work well together i.e. gnocchi, pear and pumpkin. For the “larger plate” was not worth the price and quite a small serve. Snapper was on the menu with shitake mushrooms and bok choy which missed the mark altogether. The fish well cooked, the crunchy elements on top… great. The bok choy tough and flavourless...but where is the shitake mushroom? The broth tasted of shitake after it had been soaked to refresh a dried shitake…it this the shitake element? If so, the broth lacked depth and flavour. A very 2 dimensional dish. Have had some amazing and creative meals in Canberra but this was not one of them for the hefty price tag. Always happy to pay for good food and tip for good service…but this time didn’t not feel we had value for the money we paid and did not tip the service!

As with other reviews, I noted the dark interior and high set seating, which was comfortable (surprisingly). Staff attentive. Only provided us with one menu (for 3 diners) so had to ask for more. My counterparts had wagyu (said it was amazing) and smoked duck (said it was good). I had pork belly (it was lack lustre). We also had bread (butters were a bit weird tasting). Wine lists were a bit all over the shop - what is shown on the walls didn’t match the wine list given to us with the menus. We sampled 3 desserts and agreed the white chocolate mousse was best, followed by cheesecake and then the creme brûlée (which tasted burnt). There is no coffee or tea available in the evenings (normally sourced from cafe next door) so that was a HUGE fail and has led to my poor rating. Although the meal was ok, not sure I’d return.

I have placed this review as average for the reason that besides the fact the wagu beef option was tougher than expected but because the Dutch carrots on the side were burnt, and were so small that of the four tiny carrots presented, two were as thin as string and burnt through. I didn't eat them and made a comment to a staff member who only responded with a "sorry about that". I asked her to inform the chef I was dissatisfied with the cooking and absolutely nothing happened ... not even a reply, or a mention or application of a compensation. No one asked how the meal was, I reluctantly had to volunteer a comment. Wine was expensive. Seating was on a bar stool on a corner of a "bar" and best suited to no more than 4 for conversation purposes. For $180 for two for 2 courses, I would have expected a little more attention to detail. There was no option for a dessert that was lactose free (fair enough). On a brighter note, some staff were exceptionally attentive and helpful in particular for a lactose intolerant patron and the food in general was exceptional. Inventive gourmet combinations of ingredients, sauces and presentation. The overall experience was average to good, but not better.

Dark, small tables.. we had 8 and had to split over 2 tables. Typical nouveau french- quite small servings, lots of fat on the pork belly,. Best meal was the triple cooked chips @ $10... we had to buy these too supplement the small "large" meals. Staff very friendly and capable. Drinks very expensive...$13 for abeer and $60 for a cheap red! Really? Wouldn't go back. ..oh, no kids options either. Better off at one of the 50 restaurants in Kingston or manuka at half the price!

Arrived at Vincent Restaurant and advised I was coeliac. The waitress immediately removed one of the menus in front of us and told me there wouldn’t be a lot of choice. She advised there was only one entree and two mains which could be prepared gluten free but she would have to check with the kitchen to see if they would be “willing” to accommodate me. This was a very surprising response since the last time we ate here the gf range was excellent and the chef very accommodating. The waitress went on to say that they had recently changed the menu and “forgotten” there was gluten in soy sauce and so most of the menu was now not good for coeliacs. At this point my husband was ready to leave but we persisted and ordered entree and mains. The food was excellent even if the choice was severely limited. I am surprised that Vincent’s have turned their back on the gluten free community and further surprised that the waitress was so blunt in her delivery. It’s a shame, because we won’t be back, and if the waitress is right, neither will other coeliacs.

So this is my third review of Vincent, but as my last review was less flattering, I need to set the record straight. This restaurant is an excellent choice for anyone who appreciates good food and wine, but especially good for coeliacs. The wait staff have a good understanding of gluten free and contamination. Most items on the menu could be adapted to be coeliac and nothing is too much trouble. I was dining with a friend who is not coeliac and we were sharing all the dishes. The burrata was excellent with little pops of flavour to complement the creamy cheese. The duck breast was served with risoni which the wait staff said would be omitted from our dish. But when it came out the kitchen had prepared two separate portions - mine without the risoni, but included for my friend. This was a small thing to do but made a big impact and showed that they want all their guests to have a great experience. Vincent Restaurant is now back on our regular visit list.

We had lunch at Vincent before going to an exhibition at the National Gallery, I booked online and glad i did as It was packed when we were there. The service was great, we chose Beef Ragu Pappardelle, and the Seafood Fettuccine from the Lunch Menu, both were exceptionally good, and we were served in a reasonably quick time after ordering. We really enjoyed our lunch at Vincent and will return, as well as recommending to friends and family when they visit Canberra.

Our first experience at Vincent. Atmosphere is dark and moody. Seating is around a central service area. Great in COVID unsure how it would feel without the social distancing. Loved the ambiance and the styling. Service was friendly and excellent. Booked several weeks in advance for a lovely night out. A friend called it expensive, we didn't think it was. Obviously a personal observation based on experience. Pork belly and Portobello entrees were tasty, well cooked, good portion size and very enjoyable. We opted for the Wagyu and Lamb Shank to share. We added a side of fries on recommendation. The Lamb was flavoursome and enjoyable but wasn't falling off the bone the way we tend to love. The steak and chips was fantastic. I don't know why their chunky chips are so good, but eating them with the sauces wow. We had a lovely night, enjoyed the food and would have loved to have finished with a coffee, but they don't serve it. Dessert unfortunately does not cater to those with intolerances. A lovely night, easy to park, good food and good service. We'd eat here again.

It is very minimalist in a dark design with high seating which is not so comfy for older people. I would say it was more like a bar with people sharing food which is ok but not what we wanted. The food was ok, gnocchi tasty but the duck dish was very small.

We went for my wife's birthday which I told the restaurant well in advance. Don't bother. Their food is very innovative and well prepared. My lamb dish was perfectly cooked but I suggest they need a new butcher as the lamb fillet was too chewy. The scallops dish with nori was a stand-out. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant needs to repair their main door, It's supposed to be self-shutting but fails to shut properly, leaving a big gap through which the wind comes, right across where we were sitting. We were glad to leave as the restaurant is so noisy that my wife and I could not converse without shouting. The restaurant has a low ceiling, and all the furniture and fittings are hard and shiny. There has been no care taken in the design of the place to deaden sounds. Rather, every sound is reflected and magnified. We won't be going back.

A friend and I visited this restaurant yesterday evening. We were pleasantly surprised, a great space. The menu was really interesting, we chose the degustation option. The taste range from vegetarian, seafood and meat, was sensational. Matched with quite an interesting wine list and a service level that was attentive, timely and polite. Certainly looking forward to a return.
