Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very busy place, no tables available so we sat outside. Fairly prompt friendly service. Ordered dry fried chilli beef. Coated in a very sweet sauce and no heat/chilli whatsoever. Pan fried dumplings were ok, quite bland and presentation was average. Would I return? No

As a fodmapper, as well as dairy and gluten free, I found I could eat some of the dishes on this menu. They were happy to change and alter some things slightly. Meals came out quickly. They were large servings. Customer service was quick and...to the point.More

I'd be fine with poor customer service if the food was cheap but it's not. Have been many times with family and friends and observed no recognition of the customer especially when it's time to pay. Food was descent but the service makes the experience...not worth supporting the business.More

There were five of us (two adults and three children) and we had reserved a table at 5-30pm on a Monday evening. All started well as we were shown to our table by the waiter and given our menus. At that stage there were only...people at two other tables. We quickly perused the menu and waited for our order to be taken. At that stage there were two staff at the front of house, a lady behind the bar taking telephone orders and the man who had showed us to our table who was busy packing take-aways. It was 15 minutes after we walked in before we were able to get his attention to come and take our orders. As we were not sure as to how hungry everyone really was we decided to order some dishes first then in need order some later. No problem said our waiter. First courses came out relatively quickly. Not so the drinks as the lady on the bar was still taking telephone orders. San choy bow was good although there were only 4 portions (as per the menu) but we had requested one portion for each of us and this had been acknowledged by the waiter. Shanghai steamed Pork buns were very good whilst the Pork and Chive Dumplings were just OK. The steamed combination buns were a mixed bag. The pork and chicken were OK but fairly dry whilst none of us found the beef to our liking. People in the group were still hungry so we decided to order some more dishes. By this stage (just after 6-00pm) the restaurant had become quite crowded and the way the tables were laid out, the two chairs on either side of our table were hard up against the chairs at the other tables on either side of us, so it was difficult to move around. No Covid spacing here. We noticed another two staff members had joined the fray at this stage but with a constant stream of take-aways being packed and patrons still arriving, they were overwhelmed. I eventually went up to one of the staff and asked if they could take our order. She did come down to us after packing a few more take-aways. We ordered English spinach with garlic sauce which would have been better termed Garlic sauce with spinach. We also ordered Peking duck with pancakes. The spinach came out within about 5 minutes. Not so the Peking Duck. The Duck had still not arrived 25 minutes after the spinach. If we had of been on our own without our grandchildren we would have just left before then as there were no staff even appearing at our end of the restaurant. Service was so non-existent that we heard the people at the table opposite us talking and assumed that you had to go up to the counter to order - which they did! Eventually I went and asked a lady packing take-aways could she please find out were our Peking duck dish was. About 5 minutes later the dish came to the table. There were 8 very small slices of duck which were cold. The pancakes were not light and thin, more the texture of wraps. There were only 5 slices of spring onions and 4 of what looked like shredded cucumber. A very disappointig dish and not worth the wait. We went to the bar to pay and left. We will try a different dumpling house next time. One that focuses on their inhouse customers rather than treating them as a captive audience and giving priority to take-aways.More

Last minute decision to dine here and were impressed. We shared Prawn Dumplings, Duck Spring Rolls, and Boneless Crispy Fried Duck with Plum Sauce. All of the meals were delicious and fresh. Service was faultless.

Alarmed at finding this steel wool obviously from a scouring pad in our food! Worse still the restaurant refuses to return a complain call or pass on managers email.

Yum!! Came here for dinner mid-week and while the place lacked a little ambience, we loved our food. Staff were always on hand for when we needed them and had kids bowls, cutlery and highchairs which our kids loved! We had some pork and chive...dumplings which came in a big portion. You need that many cause they're yum and our kids demolished them! I also ordered duck and cabbage vermicelli noodles and beef stir fried noodles. Both were super delicious, flavour packed and loved by all. A tad greasy though... We loved our meal, all good food, well priced (especially when using the Entertainment Card) and quick service. A little lacking in atmosphere and a bit too much oil, but would still recommend!More

Yat Bun Tong calls it self a Dumpling House and they do it well. One can watch the ladies making the dumplings in the front window. Generous serves arrive in steaming bamboo baskets. However this restaurants also offer full meals and they are delicious. We...sampled a basket of dumplings, plus three meals and they were all way above average. The crispy fried chilli beef was a standout. Not often available in other estaurants this dish is my favourite. If you are looking for top quality Chinese fare with a different menu drop by. There are two branches. We went to the Lonsdale street one.More

This restaurant provides good food - nothing brilliant but good and affordable. But the ridiculous situation of not being able to split a bill is taken to a new level. What was, until it came time to pay, a nice dinner with three friends turned...into a nightmare when they refused to allow individuals to split the bill - not pay for what they ate - but an even split of the bill coupled with demands to pay cash. It's 2020 people - there's no additional cost to you to provide convenience to your customers and who carries cash any more? They refused to call the Manager who was 'unavailable" and threatened to call the police - despite repeated attempts to pay with cards. If they follow through on that threat I'm sure the police are sick of hearing from this ridiculous restaurant - police have real issues to deal with people. Is it even legal to refuse to take cards?I was about to book a work function there for 12 people, but not now. And it makes me wonder why the pressure to pay cash? Are staff being paid in cash - at Award rates? Probably not! Never again. probably won't survive long anywayMore
