It's in a nice setting with all the boats. The place itself is very nice in side and out. The food is pretty decant (home cooked). We are vegan and there are many options. And most importantly they are dog friendly inside aswell

Popped into the Jolly Sailor without booking but was pleasantly surprised. They had a woman singer performing (who was excellent) and the food was also great - we all had the pie and thoroughly enjoyed it - great ambiance and great food made this a...very enjoyable day out.More

Well what a fabulous visit, I stopped off here on my cycle. I popped in to grab a drink and some lunch, it wasn’t overly busy but the staff were very friendly and the venue looked fantastic and really suited the location. I imagine on...the sunshine it would be amazing. Beer was great - helped that one of my Favourites was available. The food was great, and such value for money.More

Came here for a drink and some food after a walk and the food was nice and came quickly, drinks were in plastic cups which wasn’t as nice as drinking out a glass especially with wine and gin. Younger staff seemed nice and friendly, however,...the older lady behind the ice cream station was very rude and not friendly. Nice spot to stop at though.More

We would not recommend this place. We went to use the toilet and got struck by a very unfriendly older staff, it should be called the moody sailor. Not jolly at all. Chips were ok. Drinks were in plastic cups which wasn’t great.

visited this pub on bank holiday sunday for impromptu lunch, got a lovely table outside on the decking area, the service was outstanding (Angelina went out of her way to make our lunch feel special). the menu was full of delicious options, and the best...vegan/vegetarian choices ive come across locally as well as the traditional favourites too! our party of 3 picked all different dishes and all were superb, really cant rate the whole experience highly enough, all the staff were lovely and so helpful, we will definitely come back :-)More

Considering the tough time we have all had, especially hospitality, hats off to the Landlady and her staff. Whilst on a two night stay at The Shack, we ate at the Jolly Sailor both evenings, service and food great. A big thank you to the...Landlady, who went all out and offered to drive our group back to The Shack following our lunch. What a gesture. Will definitely revisit.More

Another lovely meal at The Jolly Sailor. We sat in the covered patio area. Seafood is so fresh and delicious and a steak and ale pie made in the traditional way was delicious. The service at this waterside pub was excellent not forced but pleasant...and friendly. A sunset photo to finish.More

Went for a last minute dinner with my parents. Rang ahead with 10 minutes notice and they happily prepared a table for us in their lovely garden. The staff were all really welcoming and attentive you couldn't fault their service. We ordered fish and chips...and steak and all our meals were delicious. We are local to Maldon but It was the first time visiting the pub and we will definitely be returning.More

We arrived late because we went to the wrong pub. Staff could not have been more accommodating. Just moved to Witham and took my Nephew and his Fiancée hear for lunch. Staff were very friendly, food was delicious. Felt very comfortable being there. We also...had 2 dogs and nothing was too much trouble. Customer service at its highest. Will definitely be going back there even just for a drink with the dog.More
