Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We tried to eat at the deli, but it was closed with signs pointing people over to the Yavapai Lodge Tavern instead. I know this place for coming to the Canyon for decades. It is basically the local grocery store for people living within the park, and you get the benefit of that if you come here. Get snacks and drinks for your room or for the trail or the road and pay real-world prices instead of on the rim concession prices. They do have some grab and go sandwiches, but we skipped them. We did get some drinks, breakfast food, and snacks. Ver good beer selection here with them being sold as singles. Great gift shop with a huge selection compared to the stores directly on the rim.

In a desperate search for food while staying at the Grand Canyon with limited options right now, we tried the Market Deli a couple times. As one might expect, the food quality was pretty average at best. Pizza was a safe bet and it was okay but a bit ridiculous at $27 for a 3 topping pizza. On a more positive note, there is a full grocery store on site with anything you might need.

This place is open for Breakfast and lunch and does a great job with the food. They have a similar menu as the place across the parking lot at the Lodge that was serving dinner only. We tried several things from the chicken wrap to the burgers. Nothing disappointed other than the attitude of the staff. Not one person working seemed like they wanted to be there and were a little on the rude side.

Last weekend my husband and I traveled to Grand Canyon National Park for the first time. We were shocked by our incredibly disappointing experience on September 12 - 13, 2020 at the deli register inside Canyon Village Market & Deli. Here's what happened: My husband and I were so pleased with the beautiful market, selection of groceries and souvenirs that we decided to purchase a few things. The gentleman ringing up our items at the register was polite and courteous. We then went to the deli counter around 12:00PM and that's when our experience changed. The woman working the register was rude and extremely unprofessional. She acted annoyed that we were standing there waiting to be helped. She didn't say "I'll be with you in a moment, or give me one minute please." She just stared at us with a scowl on her face. She finally helped us, but continued to act annoyed that we were there and she had to take our order. In my head I tried to figure out why she was being so rude to us. We were both wearing proper face coverings and we were patiently waiting for her to help us. Was it because my husband is Hispanic and we are an interracial couple? Maybe she was just having a bad day? However, a bad day is no excuse for the treatment we experienced from her. Another concerning thing to see was that she was not wearing her face covering properly, it was below her nose almost with her mouth exposed. We watched her handle food, touch her mask, and then interact with employees and customers. We went back the next day around 11:15AM to redeem our complimentary coffee vouchers from Yavapai Lodge and she was working the register again. Let's give this a second chance I thought to myself. The second interaction at the deli register was unfortunately worse than the previous day. We handed her the vouchers and she looked at us as though we were an imposition and for a moment I thought she was not going to serve us at all. As we waited for our coffees, she walked into the back employee area and as she walked back to her register she turned her head and stared at my husband in an obvious way as if he had no business being there. We have dealt with poor customer service and discrimination before, but this was just embarrassing and it has bothered me enough to write this review and mail a letter to the manager of the store. This is not acceptable, especially in a National Park with this reputation and atmosphere. I certainly hope that some kind of staff change or other uncommon occurrence is to blame.

The worse deli ever. After visiting Grand Canyon in the AM, I wanted to grab a deli sandwich before heading back to Phoenix. How can 6 people working in the deli not be able to handle a steady stream of customers? The wait after ordering was over 1/2 hour to get 1 sandwich and 1 beverage. The deli sandwich person was repeating the order to the person helping making the sandwich. There were 2 people packing up the sandwiches and 2 more people at the register and beverages. I ordered a roast beef sandwich and this was not roast beef or did not taste like roast beef but more like ham. Then what deli uses the crust for a sandwich that costs over 9 dollars. The wait was too long, the production line was not productive and needs training to work as a team, and stop using crusts to make the sandwiches! Jus a big disappointment.

We came by here to pick up some dinner after encountering long lines at Yavapai Tavern (and it was only 4:30 pm!). The market doesn’t have a lot of take-out options (sandwiches and bean burritos). The deli closes at 5 pm (why???), so I guess we were lucky to get an order in for pizza just before they closed, but the pizza was really awful. I highly recommend packing a cooler with food and bringing it with you to the Grand Canyon, rather than dealing with the frustration of trying to find food here.

My husband and I shopped at the Market Place and ordered carry out from the deli. I bought a couple souvenirs from the market as they had a huge selection. We split a chicken breast sandwich and an order of chili and the cost was $21. We took it back to the room and ate since we were staying inside the park. Both the sandwich and the chili were good!

Eating options, especially economical eating options are a bit limited in Grand Canyon. Particularly in this time of COVID. We decided to get something at the Market to take back to our room. First, the deli is closed. But in the Market we could find an array of sandwiches, chips, and drinks (yes and beer and wine) for dinner. In addition to our food needs, the Market had lots of other things too. Great Grand Canyon resource.

This is a review of the deli. Service was rude. Oatmeal was good and came with brown sugar and dried cranberries. I asked for extra brown sugar but they gave me extra cranberries instead. Coffee was good but there was no sugar available so I had to go back and ask the rude cashier and she was rude again. My companions breakfast bagel was ok.

Dropped by for something to drink and ended up having donner here. The pizza and hot dog sandwich was excellent. Price was reasonable. The supermarket was very well stocked with groceries and souvenirs and also fresh produce. We were even able to buy stamps. Parking was readily.available.

I was at the Yavapai Lodge Tavern Grand Canyon restaurant on Sunday, September 4, 2022. The food was good, the prices were good, but the attention of the cashier was terrible, her name is Christine #466897, she does not know how to treat customers , is rude and despotic to deal with. I didn't like how he treated us. I filed a report with one of the managers, I hope they correct this type of behavior and put more friendly people at the service of customers.

My family needed a quick bite to eat before heading to Zion National Park that evening. The pizza was decent and the hot dogs were good. The burgers were bland though. It seemed that this was the only place to order food for miles around since the main restaurant was closed for service because of covid. Service was great, food was average.

The store has a small souvenir section with a nice variety of reasonably priced souvenirs. Their prices were lower than what I was expecting and the quality of the merchandise was good. They had shirts, mugs, and magnets to name a few things.

We stopped here late one night after riding around the Grand Canyon after sunset for some sandwiches. They were out of a lot of their listed sandwiches but we settled on a generic deli sandwich and it was filling. The staff were very polite.

Had an ok lunch here. I kind of expected more but it’s really just a fast food type deli. The ingredients did seem fresh but really overall nothing too special. Had the hot turkey bacon avocado wrap. They were generous with avocado.
