Lunch was well cooked. Tasted good but not enough of it for the money. But then that's what you get in a tourist area. Place was clean. Staff friendly. Free on site parking. Food didn't take too long to arrive.

Things have really improved in the last couple of years. The food was always pretty good but now it's served by smart youngsters who've got an idea about customer service. Some great lunch dishes, always generous portions and served quickly. We keep going back.
Stopped in at the Sportsman for a bit of lunch before heading into the Lakes. Being a Sunday they had a full Sunday lunch menu as well as the normal Pub grub as well as a choose of sitting in the Bar or the Restaurant if you wanted a view with your Sunday roast. Staff was friendly, service was quick... More
The wife and I were holidaying at the Lake District and decided to take a drive with our dogs (Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Mini Jack Russell) and come across this Beautiful looking Pub, after parking up and seeing it was dog friendly we decided to go in and have something to eat, OMG I'd go back tomorrow, the staff are very friendly... My hubby and I visited The Sportsmans last weekend after a day at Keswick. We'd visited a couple of years before. The bar and restaurant were empty but we decided to eat at the bar. The bar stsff were polite but more interested in talking to the local drinking at the bar. We ordered at sunday roast and the sausage... More
Dropped by for lunch after a journey up from North Wales. Great food! Had a burger, which came with delicious chunky chips. Proper chips! The burger was made from fantastic quality meat, and the ciabatta bun was fresh and soft too. Also served with a nice salad, coleslaw and relish. Beautiful and idilic location, and the pub is just as... More
We were staying in the area and wanted an evening meal. We popped in on the off chance as we had only just arrived in the area. We were seen to immediately and seated next to one of the windows looking out over a fantastic view. My wife had the steak and ale pie, my son had chicken fajitas and... More
We called in for lunch when passing as we hadn't been there for maybe 20 years. Went for the 2 course option. Food and service were good. The only thing that lets it down are the number of flies, we counted 10 on one window. Highlighted this to be told "There is nothing we can do about them".
Lovely place.Great food and attentive staff.Goats cheese tart made with homemade pastry was lovely.Sea bream fillet was excellent.

I'm very concerned to read the dismissive, unapologetic and often disrespectful tone of many of the Owner's responses to customers who have been disappointed with their meals at the Sportsman's Inn. Can any regular visitors assure me that a visit to eat here would be worth my while?
