Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped here on a wine tour with 20 friends for a tasting. We were in a beautiful setting under the trees near the vines, and had a funny and charming Swiss man (I think his name was Gary!) host our tasting. He was excellent,...and made the experience so much fun. It was the most enjoyable tasting we had on the island, and everyone said they would be back to enjoy lunch there. Wines were beautiful and setting couldn’t have been better. Will be back!More

We visited Stonyridge on a hot day and were disappointed by our experience. We went for a tasting on the deck and they didn’t have a lot of tables with shade for couples, the tables with umbrellas seemed to be larger tables and there were...lots of couples forced to sit in the direct sun, it’s the only winery we’ve visited on waiheke that didn’t have appropriate shade provisions. The service was really slow and they lost one of the items we ordered, we had to chase for it and they brought it over much later. Apparently their system hadn’t registered the order despite it being placed via QR code among other items that all arrived so we were skeptical of the truth of that. It seems more likely they forgot it. They also didn’t provide napkins or knives/forks with the food, we had to request these afterwards. It also wasn’t clear where we could find water, and chilled water isn’t provided if you’re there for a tasting. There is a water dispenser where you help yourself however on a hot day it sits out in the sun so you are drinking warm water for a hot glass. The waiter that brought us our tasting was very knowledgeable and provided a nice service, the wines themselves were fine. The surrounding area is beautiful, there is a lovely view to enjoy whilst drinking your wine. While there were some positive aspects of our visit, it was a very stark contrast to the level of service that is offered at every other winery we visited in the area. In an area with a lot competition Stonyridge really lets itself down and stood out to us as the only place we wouldn’t want to revisit on our next trip to waiheke.More

I recently visited Stoneyridge Winery and, despite the breathtaking setting and delightful food and wine, the overall experience left much to be desired. The service was notably poor; some of our ordered dishes were delayed until we inquired, and we had to fetch our own...cutlery and napkins post-meal. The absence of water on the table and the self-serve station with warm water and hot cups felt out of sync with the hospitality norm on the island. The probable influx of tourists arriving in buses appeared to overwhelm the staff, impacting the service standard. While the venue itself is stunning, I hesitate to recommend it due to the marked difference in service compared to other vineyards in the area.More

This was a lovely first stop for our vineyard Explorer tour. The staff were friendly and we were offered a chair and table in the shade overlooking the valley. The wine was ok but at the price point not quite up to the hype. Nice...enough spot to spend an hour thoughMore

We’ve had many great times at Stonyridge before (including my 50th) - I have many fond memories of our times there. The building is still beautiful, the view is still fabulous, and the vibe is still very chill (and beautiful people still chopper in -...two helicopters landed in the 90 minutes at lunchtime that we were there) but it’s looking tired, the service was ordinary and the food ok but only ok. We won’t be back in a hurry (unfortunately).More

Beautiful day, but 2 hours after ordering food it still hadn’t arrived. Labour shortage certainly, which I am sympathetic to. But it is duplicitous to take a reservation and order you can’t fulfil. Manager couldn’t even manage 2 minutes to talk to us, I imagine...owing to his / her embarrassment. Waiheke is full of wonderful vineyards. I suggest you go anywhere but stoneyridge.More

We booked with Stoneyridge for tasting and lunch as a group of 13. We had to pay upfront, and our organiser had a lot of issues getting in touch even to pay. Two of our party got Covid and couldn’t make it. And although they...gave over 24h notice have had no response to their request for a refund for the meal or the tasting ($260 worth). I wouldn’t recommend Stoneyridge, when there are plenty of other good options on the island.More

Yesterday we visited the Stonyridge winery on Waiheke Island as part of a wine tasting tour. On arrival of about 35 people the winery did not appear to know we were booked to attend. All of the tour were left to stand around in the...sun for ages before a staff member attended. Eventually staff members commenced with the wine tasting on the hot stony entrance path. No invitation to sit down including many of the disabled people despite their was tables and chairs available in the top section but we were told this was not available to our tour . This contrasts with the amazing wine tasting we had at the Abbey and Mission wineries in Hastings NZ.Abbey and Mission staff did excellent wine tasting presentations. Stonyridge service was abysmal, not even offering water to freshen the glass. They provide the most stingy taste test wine amounts. Tour people had to ask for a seats some of which were eventually provided but still in the gravel entrance pathway. Also we noticed that other patrons were provided with much larger glasses. Also wineries typically provide water to allow tasters to clean their glasses, we had to ask for water. The hurried tasting was poorly managed with patrons very disappointed with the extremely poor service. Then we were left standing in the sun. We have completed wine tasting in various counties throughout the world and this was the worst we have ever experienced. Approx 35 people were totally disappointed in the wine tasting at Stonyridge. I recommend you give them a miss as there are other wineries with better service on Waikeke Island NZ JeffMore

While having something of a "tired" look about it, Stonyridge is certainly up there with food quality and presentation. Staff were few, like most places, and many wines were, oddly, unavailable, however the chardy saved the day!
