the food is average tourist food, but great thematic place to spend the afternoon, but don't miss desert because if your a flan lover, it doesn't get much better than this!

San Juan Cosala is a very, very popular Lake Chapala restaurant.Lake Chapala is the largest lake here in Mexico.I have lived here now 22 years after living on Maui for 23 years until it became very crowded visitor destination.I then moved here to Ajijic.Like many of us searching for a beautiful, tranquil, uncrowded place to live and I found Lake Chapala. It has been... Food and scenery are excellent. The palappas are cute and overlook the lake. Fast service and the food was great. We had the molcajete for one and shared it. Way too much good for 2 The flan is amazing.

There was almost no one there on a Friday night. That should have told us something. The first few tables we tried were dirty. There are no menus in English. The staff really doesn't speak English. The food was overcooked. There was no dessert. The waiter lowered a cover to completely block our view of the lake, which was beautiful.... More

The food was good, staff helpful and the place is nice and in a good location. The live music was a nice touch too. You wonder now why score it so low? Well after a nice lunch we walked to the exit when we noticed a few cages behind the kitchen. It was hot already but behind the kitchen it... More

A bit pricey at 420 pesos but excellent! Innovatively stuffed with fruit (yes I know it sounds odd) its 5 star class. Depending on where you are seated, it may be a bit noisy when there is music but overall a pleasant time.

Found this place, being on a day-long van tour of the Chapala area. The tour was supposed to drop us off for "lunch" (I was picked up at 9:30am) but "lunch" was not until 3:30pm. If I hadn't had a very large breakfast, I'd have been starving by the time we got to "lunch." Very hungry when we got there.... More

I recommend coming here for lunch. The views are gorgeous, there's live music and it's fun for kids. The molcajete de camaron is amazing, and like everything in the Ajijic area, the prices are ridiculously low.
